Join us this week for an awesome conversation about Primary Care Guilt! Many low income and underrepresented students have very little exposure to health care as a career, the exception being exposure to primary care physicians and/or emergency medicine physicians. Beyond that, it is hard to comprehend other types of specialities and see them as a viable career choice. Additionally, many students from underrepresented backgrounds feel a strong sense of obligation to care for their communities. Since the only exposure we have to physicians is PCPs, we assume that that is the only way to properly serve our communities. Primary care is a WONDERFUL speciality that impacts so many lives and can be fulfilling for so many providers. However, it is grossly underpaid! And, it is not the only way to help and serve your community!
