EP78: Behind Enemy Lines with @Dale21M

(Pushing this one out quickly for those making the trek to Beechworth. Have a great weekend)    Those of you that pay attention (or those that attended the last bush bash at Murrurundi) will recognise Dale from there, but for those that don’t, we wanted to have him on the pod to give us an insight into the incentives at play in shitcoin land, working behind enemy lines for a shitcoin publication.    Dale is a South African who has lived in Australia for 5 years. His background is in law and political philosophy, which he credits with his ability to think critically. As Wiz would say, he’s “found his tribe” in Bitcoin.    We discuss:  His path to Bitcoin only  Challenges of visas in Australia, regional living and covid restrictions  The difficulties of “working in Bitcoin”  Revenue streams (adverts, affiliates, paid articles etc) and the machine behind media  Learning to think like a normie  The race to the bottom (CumRocket)  NFTs  The sophistication (or lack thereof) of readers  The dangers of AI  Commercial real estate  UFC  Gaming  The potential for a shitcoin casino sting  What is exciting us in Bitcoin right now   South Africa    Pod Shout-outs  www.twitter.com/BTCBrisket  www.twitter.com/bitcoinbushbash   www.twitter.com/PrestonPysh   www.twitter.com/SimonDixonTwitt   www.twitter.com/MartyBent   www.twitter.com/LynAldenContact   www.twitter.com/parkeralewis   www.twitter.com/jameslavish   www.twitter.com/case4bitcoin   www.twitter.com/MMFlint   www.twitter.com/rjames_BTC   www.twitter.com/dunworth_peter       Npubs Hats: npub1evkn6h4dgkk6ey8mqy90spv2fmfnnzgj8u3h8dgqyql32gs9tywqhdruxp  Brendo: npub1jsauhxc6hjyk5th86qc5z02c9f0cfc7dwszzlj7e9s8wt54w490q4kglr9    Contact Us  www.2bitidiots.com

EP77: Crazy Numbers with @dunworth_peter

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Please listen til the end as Pete will blow your tiny mind. We spoke with Pete just a few short weeks ago (EP70) about what high-net-worth clients think of Bitcoin. You liked him. Actually, you liked him a lot. A lot of you tuned in... thank you.  We got nowhere near the end of that conversation, as we also wanted to talk to him about inheritance planning. So, he kindly agreed to go again. Settle in and pour yourself a coffee, this is a long one!  If you’re a connoisseur of bullish price valuation models, this one is also for you. He gets more bullish as we go, and we can’t fault any of his logic.    We discuss:  What is a family office. Generational wealth, legal structures, preservation of capital.  Systemic risk in “risk free” bonds.  Credit Suisse, bank runs and what’s happening in trad fi markets right now.  Interest rates and mortgage pain.  Why everyone focuses on the US.  Are US regulators starting to take a more pro Bitcoin stance.  Legal entities for holding your assets.  The importance of a will or testamentary trust.  Multi-sig security with clients  Time locking Bitcoin  Element zero at absolute zero  The first triple point quantum asset.  Solving bond duration risk with Bitcoin  Bitcoin valuations for those who love “crazy numbers”    Pod Shout-outs  www.twitter.com/MichaelDunwort1  www.twitter.com/saylor   www.twitter.com/stephanlivera  www.twitter.com/knutsvanholm   Couldn’t find the timelock article, but start here for great content  www.knutsvanholm.com   www.twitter.com/juniorwaugh349  www.twitter.com/FossGregfoss  www.twitter.com/luke_broyles   www.twitter.com/BitcoinAlive  www.twitter.com/bitcoinbushbash    Npubs – cya Twitter  Hats: npub1evkn6h4dgkk6ey8mqy90spv2fmfnnzgj8u3h8dgqyql32gs9tywqhdruxp  Brendo: npub1jsauhxc6hjyk5th86qc5z02c9f0cfc7dwszzlj7e9s8wt54w490q4kglr9    Contact Us  www.2bitidiots.com

There’s nothing a bitcoiner enjoys more than bursting a mainstream narrative. If we really are “bOiLinG tHE oCEans”, why is it that Simon and his colleagues at www.Stackr.co.nz  are Bitcoin mining with renewable energy and providing stability to the electricity grid in New Zealand’s South Island.  It really is a head scratcher, isn’t it. EP75: Empty Passenger Seat with @JoeMartinMusic

Bitcoiners branching out into other industries is great, but what I really want to see is people in other industries adopting Bitcoin. I’m particularly keen for musicians, athletes and sports teams to figure this out (shout out to Perth Heat for leading by example).  That's why I was very excited to discover Joe Martin. Joe is a singer-songwriter who is a musician first but also a bitcoiner. He gets it, and the best bit...he’s good! We want Joe to be able to take a message to his friends in the music industry, so we’re passing on all donations (streams, boosts etc) from value-for-value enabled podcasting apps. Have a listen to Joe's story and his current single / title track from his new album. If you like what you hear, please send a few sats his way. We discuss: His backstory as Country/Americana artist Crafting story-based songs and the creative process of making an album What it means to be a professional (completely independent) musician today Generating a revenue from gigs and merchandise. When we last spoke in mid-December (EP67) they had just announced the event and location, but tickets hadn’t been released and speakers hadn’t been confirmed. Less than 3 months on (which I’m sure has felt like 3 days to them), we thought it was time for an update for those of you that know you’re attending and others that might still be on the fence. EP72: Talking the Corn with @GazLarking

I finally stepped out of Brendo’s shadow and did one of these interview thingies by myself. Turns out the tech side is way easier than he makes it sound! The problem though, is that Gary (Gaz) and I can talk the corn! I think it was 3 hours 53 minutes to be precise, but don’t worry we only recorded an hour or so. Gaz is as bullish on Bitcoin as the rest of us, but his knowledge and life experience also gives him a perspective on risk that many of those that have recently been rekt by leverage could learn from.  You don’t need to risk the farm; you just need to get off zero. EP71: Can I Speak to Your Manager - Hats and Brendo

It’s easy to talk a big game.  Backing it up is harder.  However, what we’ve found over the last 7 years, is that the closer you align yourself with Bitcoin, the better things turn out. The list of large-scale Bitcoin only events is growing all over the world, but we didn’t have one in Australia.  Until now.  Quick Links Twitter @BitcoinAlive @dylanhashmurray @lungdoge Website www.bitcoinalive.io Frustrated by the time and expense required to attend the conferences overseas, Chris, Dylan and Jess have decided to put that right. On Saturday, 15th of April 2023, Bitcoin Alive will make its debut.  A single day conference at the Roundhouse, Sydney ( www.arc.unsw.edu.au/roundhouse ), Bitcoin Alive will “bring together Australia’s Bitcoin community for a day of the highest quality Bitcoin content from the best minds in Bitcoin from both Australia and overseas”. We sat down with Chris and Dylan to find out more about their motivations and plans for the day.  We discussed: Why we need a Bitcoin conference in Australia Who the event is pitched at Event management experience The value of meeting bitcoiners face-to-face Providing a platform for the bitcoiner talent in Australia Date, Location, Venue Capacity, 20+ Speakers 900-seat main stage, keynote presentations, VIP area, breakout rooms, panels, fireside chats and beer garden Fitting in to the circuit of global Bitcoin events and adding an Aussie spin with satellite events Risks involved and work required Timescales for announcement of Speakers and Costs (sign up for Presale Tickets) Swell reports from Coogee Beach Support from and giving back to the Bitcoin community Sponsorship and maintaining your integrity while staying Bitcoin Only Positive/negative feedback and being judged on their Proof of Work Not looking at the Bitcoin price for a year (and guessing where we are now) Pod Shout-outs www.twitter.com/the_Bowdog www.twitter.com/saylor www.twitter.com/jackmallers www.twitter.com/TheGuySwann www.twitter.com/JeffBooth www.twitter.com/BTCSchellingPt www.twitter.com/stephanlivera www.twitter.com/pacificbitcoin www.twitter.com/AdoptingBTC www.twitter.com/knutsvanholm www.twitter.com/gregzaj1 www.twitter.com/FossGregfoss Contact us: www.2bitidiots.com

We live in the sticks.  We’re happy living in the sticks.  You couldn’t pay us enough (even sats!) to live in the city.  The problem with living in the sticks, however, is that you may be the only bitcoiner. We’ve found another Maxi and he has a friend too!  4 of us.  IN THE STICKS!  More Bitcoin Maxis than Post Offices.  We’re winning, and each one of you is the reason why.  Here’s his story: Running core in 2011, but turning it off to not waste his sister’s electricity Always stacking Getting burned in shitcoins and learning not to spend time thinking about them When does a scam become a scam The progress of the Lightning network and what’s still required Maintaining your passion for your fiat life and what comes next Hallucinogens and the mixing of the senses Rights, freedoms and your political opinions through a Bitcoin filter Getting paid in Bitcoin Validation Misconceptions around Bitcoin meetups What does the “fight you” stage look like Real estate. EP65: Murra Roundup

This is our light-hearted take on the Bitcoin Bush Bash in Murrurundi, NSW. It was just as expected.  A few words that spring to mind: Welcoming.  Old friends.  New friends.  Honest (sometimes brutally).  Intellectually Stimulating.  Steak.  Beers.  Art.  Proof of Work.  Growing.  Committed.  Humble.  Curious.  Family.  Fun. That was our third and certainly not our last.  We’d love to make it to QLD, VIC and WA to attend theirs someday.  Let’s see. Most importantly.  If you haven’t yet been to a bush bash and you’re wondering whether to come, please do.  You’ll certainly be made welcome.  Better yet, start your own and send us all an invitation. Thank you to all those that didn’t want to be thanked!  Bitcoin for the win. EP62: While We Wait with @danWilcz

Bitcoin is a game of patience.  Daniel has been here a while and has shown more patience than most. Founder of HardBlock.com.au – Australia's oldest Bitcoin only exchange – he's stayed true to his principles since finding Bitcoin in 2013.  There have been hurdles and challenges along the way.  Brendo and I sat down with him to hear his story and seek his advice.  It left us with plenty to consider.  We discuss: What it’s like being in Bitcoin full-time for 9 years Starting a Bitcoin business 4 months after discovering Bitcoin Jumping in on the 2013 price spike, and being underwater for 2 years Coming from a computer system engineering and economics background His rapid fall down the rabbit hole Never really having a “real job” Seeing a Bitcoin therapist Being part of a social revolution Managing risk in a Bitcoin business Being de-banked more than 20 times Building a service you’re happy to recommend to family and friends Encouraging customers to self-custody Shitcoin casinos Can you build a Bitcoin only business and why Industry bodies The ethics of advertising How you reach decisions Can a business outperform Bitcoin Local not global Pod Shout-outs www.twitter.com/HardBlockBTC www.twitter.com/AusBitcoinPod www.twitter.com/BitcoinAdelaide www.twitter.com/AusBTCIndBody www.twitter.com/aantonop www.twitter.com/bitcoinbushbash Contact Us www.2bitidiots.com www.twitter.com/StackingHats www.twitter.com/BitcoinBrendo

EP61: Back Again with @beefbackbetter

It’s great having new guests on to tell us how they found their way to Bitcoin or explaining what they are doing in the Bitcoin ecosystem, but it’s also interesting to follow a story and see the progress over time. Owen is an example of the latter.  We first met at the OG Bitcoin Bush Bash in Murrurundi in 2020, then we travelled to his farm in northern NSW to check out his beef operation (EP22).  We spoke again as he went over to El Salvador on a scouting mission to see if it really was somewhere he thought he could live (EP43) and now we catch up with him as he’s finding his feet in San Salvador.  He’s not a talker...he’s a doer!  He’s also a good talker...we discuss: Being top of the 2 Bit league Making the decision to sell the farm and leave Australia Living next door to the President’s mum Making friends in San Salvador The general cost of living (rent, fuel, food, quality beef, motorcycles) Travel restrictions Where’s Jordy Nomad or Expat Optimising tax status The perfect San Salvador climate Paying in Bitcoin/Lightning Problems with payments generally Where is the most chilled out Bitcoin conference Using the local health system Gringos having an edge No scamming or woke culture, completely safe and much less regulation Business ideas Adopting Bitcoin Lightning Summit, Nov 15-17 https://adoptingbitcoin.org Bitcoin Landing Spot https://twitter.com/BTCLandingSpot Visas. Even if we get Morpheus himself, these 2 will always be our favourite guests. Today, we welcome Itty and Bitty (our daughters) onto the pod to tell us what they know about Bitcoin, how annoying Bitcoin dads are and to give a kid's perspective on all these things we keep going on about. I think they surprised themselves with how much they know, and it just proves that if kids can ‘get it’ there’s no excuse for anyone else not to. Plus, it’s a doxx fest, so it’s gonna cost us! EP56: Bitcoin 4 India with @AbhilashNair11

We were wrong. We keep doing pods with plebs from all over the world looking for how things are different where they are.  And the answer is always...they’re not.  Brendo even broke into “We Are the World” (sorry). This week it was our pleasure to chat with Abhilash Nair (Abi) from Hexa Wallet (hexawallet.io) the first product from BitHyve.  A fully remote team, predominantly based in India, the conversation focussed on Abi’s personal journey, the parallel journey of the Hexa Wallet and the Bitcoin 4 India conference on November 5th and 6th in Goa.  We also touch on: Accents changing every 20km, language changing every 100km. Educating 1.3 billion people in India. NO CONNECTION TO HEX COIN (please avoid) Simplifying Hexa Wallet for ease of use, and the introduction of “Pledge” (fundraising) and “Keeper” (storage) to be released in a couple of months. EP50: Becoming Antifragile with @Talej

There are bitcoiners who are made, and there are bitcoiners who are born.  The former are to be respected.  They have a different perspective on life, but when presented with new information, they change their mind.  Totally logical, but all too rare.  However, the latter have always been bitcoiners.  They’ve had a Bitcoin mindset forever; Bitcoin just didn’t exist. Michael – @Talej – is definitely in the second group, and his recent article in Bitcoin Magazine proves it. https://bitcoinmagazine.com/culture/becoming-antifragile-with-bitcoin-and-beyond In this conversation we dig deeper into each section of the article to find out how and why Michael lives the way he does, what motivates him, and the process of making himself Antifragile.  We discuss: Food Health and Fitness Income and Finances Community Skills/Knowledge Development Dependency and Mindset We also go on to talk about what he’s creating at www.voltpay.app  - a point of sale solution for merchants wanting to accept Bitcoin via the Lightning Network.  Find out how it could help you, or how you could help it.  Team member 2 could be you! EP49: Haggis is Back!

One of the things I’m enjoying the most about doing the pod, is that we are starting to develop a little community of like-minded, no-nonsense bitcoiners.  So, it’s great to have one of them back for another chat, to see where things have changed since we last spoke, what we got right and what we got wrong. Scotland has given the world many things, from the TV and telephone to the fridge and the toaster, but none of it is better than Haggis.  So, if you need a good Bitcoin twitter handle, @HaggisHODL is it. In this one we talk about: Drunken DM’s Scottish football A new bet and meme-ing bitcoin onto the balance sheet of our teams St Mirren not Helen Mirren The new little chip is born. EP48: The Brendo and Daz Show

Brendo doesn’t have many good ideas, but every now and then he surprises us all.  I hope you enjoy the intro. He appears on podcasts more often than Nic Carter shills a shitcoin, but since Brendo was eating his steak (not a euphemism) it seemed only fair that we have @dazbea1 back on to tell us where we’re going wrong in life. Strangely though, for a Queenslander, the more you dig with Daz the more interesting he becomes...and it turns out...Brendo can sing, so it really just begs the question, what exactly do I offer the plebs.  You judge.  I know you will, and I love you for it bitcoiner. EP46: Bond to Unbind – Bitcoin and El Salvador with @Iam_Satoshi

EP46: Bond to Unbind – Bitcoin and El Salvador with @Iam_Satoshi

We all talk about Bitcoin in El Salvador, but what do we really know? Brendo and I speak to “Bond to Unbind” Director and Producer Tomer Kantor, who wanted to know the answer to that question, so he bought a plane ticket, picked up his camera and went to find out for himself. We found the documentary to be an honest portrayal of how Tomer found it.  No hype, no hopium, just a real representation of the opinions of Salvadorans less than a year after President Bukele announced the Central American country would be the first in the world to recognise Bitcoin as legal tender. The conversation led us to discuss: The film-making process, and how a project like this comes together The benefit of not having a pre-determined story to tell...no confirmation bias The skill of listening and allowing people to speak The interesting content that surprises you whilst editing The willingness of Salvadorans to appear on film, and how welcoming local people were What Salvadorans really think of Bitcoin (good and bad) The political backdrop in El Salvador and lack of opposition to the President Willingness of businesses to accept Bitcoin as payment Bitcoin being blamed by some for inflation The need for education (everywhere, not just in El Salvador) and how that should be done The Bitcoin national diploma International businesses opening offices in El Salvador How taxi drivers spent their $30 of Bitcoin from the government The documentary being seen as honest by local people and the analytics showing that it’s being watched by Salvadorans Will people relocate to El Salvador because of Bitcoin? We highly recommend you watch the documentary yourself, follow @Iam_Satoshi and look out for his future work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx-QWOHuug0 Other Documentaries by Tomer Kantor (twitter.com/Iam_Satoshi) https://www.youtube.com/c/SatoshiPollenIamSatoshiDocumentary Pod Shout-outs https://twitter.com/beefbackbetter https://twitter.com/LakeBitcoin https://twitter.com/IBEX_Mercado https://twitter.com/Bitcoinbeach https://twitter.com/MyfirstBitcoin_ https://twitter.com/OpenNode https://twitter.com/Strike Brisket’s Doxx Jar Hats 3900 Sats Brendo 6300 Sats Daz 300 Sats – paid!

EP43: On the ground in El Salvador with @beefbackbetter

Don’t Trust. Verify. That’s the oft repeated mantra in Bitcoin circles. But how many of us practice what we preach? We first met Owen at the inaugural @BitcoinBushBash in Murrurundi, and subsequently travelled to his farm in northern NSW to learn why a Bitcoin maximalist would move into regenerative organic beef production (EP22). So, when we heard that he had gone to El Salvador to judge for himself what is really happening there, we wanted to hear all about it. In this conversation we discuss: Taking the opportunity to leave the country after the lockdowns What it’s like meeting bitcoiners every day in El Zonte (and for some people the first time they’ve met another bitcoiner ever) Paying for (nearly) everything in Bitcoin Hope House Bond to Unbind - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx-QWOHuug0&t=2s Bukele being a bitcoiner for a long time Zero tolerance for shitcoiners The Chivo wallet has given some people a bad first impression of Bitcoin Supermarkets having 1 aisle or 1 person who understands Bitcoin Learning through doing Is relocating to El Salvador a good option Informal Bitcoin meetups every day Surfer, bitcoiner (or both) Some people blame Bitcoin for rising prices Healthy scepticism of Bukele and Bitcoin Gang arrests, state of emergency and covid lockdowns Goods and services still priced in USD Opportunities (particularly farming) in El Salvador and working with local growers Foreign investment, residency and citizenship Buying land with Bitcoin Pod Shout-outs https://twitter.com/bitcoinbushbash https://twitter.com/HopeHousesv https://twitter.com/Bitcoinbeach https://twitter.com/GaloyMoney https://twitter.com/LakeBitcoin https://twitter.com/IBEX_Mercado https://twitter.com/bluewalletio https://twitter.com/MuunWallet https://twitter.com/johnkvallis Contact Us www.2bitidiots.com www.twitter.com/StackingHats www.twitter.com/BitcoinBrendo

How do you convince friends and family that Bitcoin is the solution?  First, they must understand the problem. Fortunately, Daz and Seb have you covered.  Through www.lookingglasseducation.com they have created their first FREE course entitled Debt, Inflation and the Bigger Picture. The course is written in a way that makes it accessible to all and presents Bitcoin as an option (the best option) to protect your financial security.  However, it in no way forces that on the student and simply offers the information and tools that allow you to think for yourself. Don’t Trust, Verify. EP41: Bitcoin Might Tank (but where else are you going to go?) - Hats and Brendo

Let’s address the elephant in the room.  Bitcoin is tanking.  I mean, I’ve seen worse, but it’s not fun.  In these situations, you must keep asking yourself “where else am I going to go?”. We encourage you to look for alternatives.  But once you have, and have evaluated them objectively, you’ll be back stacking sats and feeling grateful you get the chance to do it so cheaply. In this episode we discuss: Tanking shitcoins Halving humpday A long time thinking nothing has happened, but then the perspective you get when you summarise the last year. Africa leapfrogging straight to Lightning Fountain splits $6.5 trillion in US treasury bonds due to mature in the next 12 months. EP40: Knut Svanholm - Lure Out the Beast

“Imagine, everything there is and everything that will ever be, divided by 21 million” @knutsvanholm I’m going to do something a bit different with these show notes.  I’m giving you the questions we had for Knut, to let you be the judge of whether we stuck to the script.  I hope the answer is “somewhat”, but I also hope you enjoy the off-script chat as well: Q1. Are you still a pleb? Q2. What was the lightbulb moment for you in the Infinity / 21m idea? Q3. What is toxic maximalism? (The shitcoiner term for the truth) and should we all try to be more pragmatic? Q4. If countries are just ideas, what is the future of countries on a Bitcoin standard? Q5. Are our fiat rulers ignorant or wilfully deceptive? Q6. Politicians are great at kicking the can down the road.  How much further can they kick it? Q7. As you’ve become more well known in the Bitcoin world, has that restricted you or changed any of your behaviours? Q8. What is your opinion of fractional reserve exchanges? Q9. First El Salvador, now the Central African Republic.  Who next? Q10. What’s next for you? Knut has been a huge influence in my thoughts and conviction around Bitcoin.  I would strongly recommend you pick up his books: Bitcoin: Sovereignty Through Mathematics - https://amzn.to/3ktOywc Bitcoin: Independence Reimagined - https://amzn.to/3vvGHV8 Bitcoin: Everything Divided by 21 Million - https://amzn.to/3KyUXke and read the articles he’s written for Citadel 21.  Specifically: Deeper Down the Rabbit Hole (Volume 5) https://www.citadel21.com/deeper-down-the-rabbit-hole Imagine Reimagined (Volume 8) https://www.citadel21.com/imagine-reimagined Pod Shout-outs https://twitter.com/JeffBooth https://twitter.com/gregzaj1 https://twitter.com/FractalEncrypt https://twitter.com/hodlonaut https://twitter.com/TheGuySwann https://twitter.com/IoniAppelberg https://twitter.com/camilacampton https://twitter.com/SusieBdds https://twitter.com/PrinceySOV Thanks to our Wise Furry Yoda.

We love the internet.  We love Bitcoin.  But we also love the real world, and there’s nothing better than hanging out with proper bitcoiners in meatspace. *WARNING* This one gets messy.  Fozz arrived armed with beer and port, I may have chipped in with one of the good whiskies (I give the cheap stuff to the normies), and Brendo contributed nothing and stacked sats instead (not true, he now has his own beer shelf in my fridge!)  The language gets colourful, and the slurs get worse as we go. EP36: Are You Ready for a Bitcoin Holiday with @bitcoin_hostel?

Hats: “I know nothing about audio mate, have you got that covered?” Brendo: “Sure.  I’m your man” Hats: *facepalm emoji [Apologies (particularly to Albert) for the sound quality on this one, but the content is good.] You may have seen Albert (@bitcoin_hostel) go viral recently, with his “We are building a Bitcoin Hostel at one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe” tweet. We wanted to get him on the pod to tell you the full story.  It’s exciting, and what’s more, you can be part of making it happen.  In the pod we discuss: His first touch point with Bitcoin was in school but fell down the rabbit hole in 2016/17. He’s an architect by profession and has seen first-hand the frustrations of contracting to government organisations. Why governments need to get out of the way, and why building the Bitcoin economy is the peaceful alternative. The struggles of being unvaccinated and working in Germany, and the pressures of home working. Building a Bitcoin hostel combines his (and his girlfriends) interests in travel, architecture, interior design, meeting diverse people and of course Bitcoin. Going viral on Twitter and being shocked by the positivity and support. Inspiration from El Salvador. Inflation creeping into the conversation globally. Why Portugal?  (Culture/Nature, Price and Low Taxation) Why it’s possible to find free land. Making the connections needed to make the project a success.  A Bitcoin grassroots project. Architectural competition to design the hostel. Stimulating an economy with pro-Bitcoin regulation, and the need for certainty in the regulatory environment. Elon Musk building a factory in Berlin without building permits. Red tape can be cut if there is the will (see the situation with Ukrainian refugees). Hostel stories. (Would make a great podcast!) EP30: Your Sat Count is your Score, with your Favourite Assassin @BitcoinSampo

Interview time again, and this week I’m out of my depth, while Brendo shines!  I know...who’d have guessed?! Our guest is @BitcoinSampo, and we’re delighted to go international again.  We want to hear perspectives from all over the world and get out of our own echo chamber.  So, we’re (virtually) off to Finland. Despite sounding like an assassin, Sampo is a prolific Twitter poster about both Bitcoin and human rights.  An English teacher by profession, he currently operates a small business that offers translating services, most recently in the gaming industry. He – like many – are class of 2017, but really put in the work in 2018 to “discover the beauty of Bitcoin”, and for the last 3 years has been Bitcoin only. In the pod we discuss: The importance of study Book recommendation: The Bitcoin Standard by Saifedean Ammous https://amzn.to/3Azt1YE Why the March 2020 crash wasn’t as concerning as November 2018. Real entrepreneurs have times of great cash flow and then times of poor cash flow, and how Bitcoin can become your “savings account” for those tougher times. Tax law being not fit for purpose. The dollar value is short time preference, and the Sats you accumulate is your score. Being privacy conscious before Bitcoin and controlling your personal information. Living in a high tax society. Integrating Bitcoin/Sats into gaming. Integrated with CS Go. Could Bitcoin make different games interoperable. Product placement in games. EP29: Sats on the Beach – Hats and Brendo

Hat’s and Brendo episode tonight guys...switch off now if you hate these ones. Kidding, of course, and thanks for coming on this journey with us. As usual, it’s just the 2 of us riffing on the current news stories and how they affect Bitcoin...or should that be how Bitcoin affects them. We cover: The “hot asian chick who wants to know how our trade is going”. EP28: Despair, Depression, Hope and Purpose. Psychology meets Bitcoin with @mission_bitcoin

EP28: Despair, Depression, Hope and Purpose. Psychology meets Bitcoin with @mission_bitcoin

Justin is the education, content and privacy lead at HardBlock (the oldest Bitcoin only exchange in Australia), helping no-coiners become bitcoiners and bitcoiners become self-sovereign and privacy conscious. But – perhaps more importantly – he is a psychologist who is bringing those skills into the Bitcoin economy. We’ve been wanting to do pod about depression/hope/desperation/purpose for a while now, but (understandably) no one has wanted to come on the pod to open themselves up to that. So, the next best thing is to look at those issues from a professional perspective and Justin knocks this one out of the park. We cover loads of different angles, but here’s a summary of the topics we discussed. We genuinely hope it helps someone. Justin’s journey into Bitcoin through psychology, through his interest in privacy and government overreach. How the current system prevents psychology from being a confidential service, and how implementing Bitcoin (and privacy tools) into a practice could improve the service to the client. Looking at the world though a Bitcoin lens and realising that it’s solving the problem of corrupt/broken money. How you can see the misallocation of fiat in healthcare, nutrition, farming practices, the education system, science...the list goes on. Society being robbed of Zero to One moments. The Price of Tomorrow, Jeff Booth - https://amzn.to/3j0r8y2 The Bitcoin Standard, Saifedean Ammous - https://amzn.to/3Azt1YE Mastering Bitcoin, Andreas Antonopolous - https://amzn.to/3BfF1Ao Increase in lack of meaning, emptiness and cognitive dissonance, despite leading a “full” life. General free-floating stress and anxiety. Emotional regulation systems. Enjoyment, Achievement and Soothing. Turning off the stress system. Understanding that you are not the cause of the negative things you are observing in the world. Balancing delayed gratification with foregoing the present. Shitcoins being fractional reserve banking on steroids (but we like familiarity) Eclipse attacks. The most successful orange-pill technique starts with, “How is Bitcoin relevant to you, and what concerns you?” The HardBlock story. Being a customer and liking the ethics before joining the team. Thinking of Bitcoin as a savings account. Turning down offers to shitcoin. No deposit (auto buy) or trade fees, withdrawal (auto send) just 99 sats! Make money purely from the spread. Complexity being abstracted away. Building trust and engaging with local businesses. EP27: In a Land of Liars the Truth-Teller is the King – Hats and Brendo

We squeezed in a quick Hats and Brendo before we spoke to @DazBea1. We discuss: Rogan (190 million downloads a month) and free speech.  Why is he being cancelled now?  The vast majority of people are afraid, and that fear is being exploited. Removing your content from Spotify purely for engagement. The ongoing saga with Bitbo. Brendo’s low time preference chest freezer for Hats the cow (resilience), dryer and using as much energy as he can. Next up a Bitcoin miner. 2 Bit Idiots is (almost) available on Fountain app. How we make the pod. Why I dress up as Robin on the weekends. Cancel culture and the outrage loop. EP26: @dazbea1 – The Venn diagram of a bitcoiner

If you could pick a skill set to hit the ground running in Bitcoin, you’d struggle to be ‘luckier’ than Daz.  A sparky by trade, with a science degree in engineering, experience in marketing, an interest in macroeconomics, an ability to communicate (written and spoken) and an all-round good bloke...he’s a Venn diagram of a bitcoiner. He started stacking in March 2020 – coming from the value investing angle (ht Preston Pysh) and has contributed lots already since he spends “most of my waking time” on Bitcoin.  Read some (all!) of his work at: www.dazbe4.medium.com As always, our pod’s completely lack structure, focus and we drift all over the place.  Sorry (not sorry).  We hit on some important topics (and some not so) in this one, so take from it what you will and direct all criticism at Brendo.  We discuss: Why all you need to survive the virus is a caravan and an oodie How it helps you have your wife on-side (tip: have a spreadsheet with your personal net worth that you can screenshot and send to them in a raging bull market) How to find the intrinsic value of stocks, and why almost everything is over-valued: https://amzn.to/3snra76 - The Warren Buffett Accounting Book – Stig Brodersen & Preston Pysh Fiats Gains versus Changing the World Writing for friends and family and just making it more widely available How institutions will flush out your Bitcoin leveraged longs Do not trade, just DCA (or should it be called Mining Cost Average) Home mining checklist (including safety concerns) How to source home miners and the value of non-KYC sats If you can dial into your modem, you can mine Merger of all of the loves Bitcoin mining becoming the demand of last (or first) resort on the grid Why stranded energy and Bitcoin are a match made in heaven Writing a financial literacy course that’s accessible for everyone (hopefully in time for Bitcoin ‘22 conference) Death by PowerPoint, and What Is Money? EP25: Is Anyone a Bitcoin Maximalist? - Hats and Brendo

Feels like a while since we’ve done a Hats and Brendo.  Let’s be honest, the guest shows are better, BUT these are the ones where we just muck about, say whatever garbage comes into our heads and see if we can trigger each other.  It’s a lot of fun. We can’t even promise it’s always going to be Bitcoin related (even though everything is if you try hard enough).  In this we discuss: Water parks, CrossFit, old-man injuries and the noise you make getting into a bean bag. Brutal honesty. Why Star Trek is shit. Avoiding talking about Bitcoin Testing Brendo’s knowledge of currencies What are shitcoiners thinking when their shitcoin is tanking Why the mission is greater than the money Why humans take the easy option Podcast 2.0 and Brendo’s sympathy sats. EP24: Don't Listen if You’re Hungry with @BTCBrisket

This one is an open riff with a fellow pleb.  There was no agenda and no list of questions to get through. Brisket is a beef maximalist.  He was a bitcoiner waiting for Bitcoin, when he was introduced via the Human Performance Outliers Podcast with Shawn Baker, Zach Bitter with Saifedean Ammous and Michael Goldstein as guests (Episode 28). As a self-described “fat bastard” we talk about his 10-year journey trying to figure out his best diet and how carnivore was the last one he tried and the one that’s had the most impact. He tells us of the health benefits from his dietary changes, particularly additional strength in his joints. We discuss: Why there is no money in providing good dietary advice (more broken incentives), and why switching to carnivore does cost more for quality meat and set-up, but less if you remove all the supplements you’re taking. Why Gold is so hard to own. Brendo and Brisket get into BBQ porn.  Listen to their little exited voices. 😉 Being able to see and appreciate value everywhere when you look through a Bitcoin lens. Tolerating the legacy bullshit, compared to the swear limit on 2BitIdiots. Spending your whole life fitting in, and how Bitcoin allows him to be his weird self. Also taking the fear out of losing your job. The implications of growing up in a migrant community. The need for diversity of ideas. Why he loves it when bitcoiners say something controversial. Are countries even relevant anymore, the need for tribes and his quest for land. “Don’t question the sCIencE” Brisket, Brisket, Brisket, Skittles The number of people that are bitcoiners but just don’t know it yet. Why humans become unpredictable when they start looking out for your best interest. The shift in mindset when you do something you value that’s not for the profit. EP23: Hard Money with Richard James

EP23: Hard Money with Richard James

Richard James (@rjames_BTC) is best known in Bitcoin circles as the creator of the films Hard Money, Petrodollars and Anatomy of the State, but he’s also a small business owner from Melbourne, Australia who holds his balance sheet in Bitcoin.  He’s a proper bitcoiner! We first met Richard at the Murrurundi Bitcoin Bush Bash, where unfortunately Brendo let us all down with his audio skills 😉 and the quality was just not good enough to include in the roundup.  So, we wanted to make up for it and sit-down with Richard long-form and discuss his Bitcoin story and his thoughts as to what comes next. We jump around a lot on this one (that’s on me, sorry), but it was a great back and forward with someone who brings an interest and knowledge in diverse areas such as, small business, travel, history, Austrian economics, government and money but who also has the ability to story-tell in a manner that’s approachable to the average person.  Seriously...watch the films (and share with a friend)! [ Links available from Richard’s Twitter profile: www.twitter.com/rjames_BTC ] We also discuss: His decision to take his travel business onto a Bitcoin Standard and how that decision insulated it from the negative effects of the Covid response. How he thinks about the management of a business that holds its treasury in Bitcoin. How Bitcoin has changed his outlook on life, politics and becoming involved in a community that views the world differently. Our mutual love/hate relationship with Twitter. The need to write and create to get your thoughts about Bitcoin straight in your own head and being able to share it with others being a secondary concern. The gap for quality video content at the time of creating Hard Money but doing it without any Bitcoin contacts at all. Telling a story about Bitcoin, without mentioning Bitcoin. The hidden tax of inflation, and why Bitcoin solves the problem. Reaching out to bitcoiners and the positive response to cold DM’s. The future for governments on a Bitcoin Standard...do we try and fix the current model, or just build an alternate system. Making the distinction between government itself and a government employee. Localism, local self-determination and the El Salvador case study. Coming to the end of multiple cycles. Which countries will be next to adopt Bitcoin. EP22: If You Want to Eat Beef in the Future, You'd Better Own Some Bitcoin with Owen

EP22: If You Want to Eat Beef in the Future, You'd Better Own Some Bitcoin with Owen

Owen is a bitcoiner and cattle farmer who we first met at the Bitcoin Bush Bash in 2020.  He gave a Bitcoin for Beginners presentation then and followed that with a Regenerative Agriculture presentation in 2021. There’s no better way to learn about something than to see it for yourself, so Brendo and I jumped in the car and headed north to visit the farm and see his farming philosophy in action. We met his Mum, Jordy the dog (named after Jordan Peterson) and the cows.  If lunch is anything to go by, his methods work! You might not immediately see the connection between Bitcoin and farming, but as Owen explains it’s all about proof of work, time preference and mimicking nature. He talks us through: His career up to now in organic farming certification and regulation on and off for the last 20 years, in Australia, South-East Asia and the Pacific Islands. How his work and travels introduced him to the problems of devaluing currencies (people carrying shopping bags full of cash), credit systems and currency exchange. Organic and regenerative farming processes and producing good beef. Why the money is the underlying cause of so many of the world’s problems, and why farming is the ultimate low time preference activity. His self-taught journey in economics, and how he’s now teaching people locally about Bitcoin (What, Why, When and How) We tour the farm; hear about Owen’s thoughts about diet; see the tree planting (agri-forestry) project (assisted by the local community); Regenereggs; Beef Back Better; cell grazing; keyline ploughing to improve water retention; cattle supplements trailer with a back rubber; exponential grass growth; the negative feedback loop of set stocking; local farmers helping each other out and bartering produce; and advice for the consumer. Why incentives are misaligned for farmers which leads to misallocation of capital. The important of private property rights. Teaching people the importance of holding your private keys and not to be distracted by scams. Why DCA is the way. Where are all the smart thinkers in the modern age? People losing faith in the institutions and why the positivity in Bitcoin will win. If you’d like to connect with Owen please search for the Beef Back Better telegram group. EP20: Why We Are All Still Shitcoiners - Hats & Brendo

We lied to you.  We said we would do interview/us/interview/us and it’s been all interviews recently.  It’s hard to say no to people though, and it’s great to get other people’s perspectives to help you refine your own.  We hope you’ve enjoyed them too. This week, however, it’s back to just the 2 idiots in the garage, with very little preparation, just spit-balling about Bitcoin.  You could say that the lack of preparation was lazy (and you’d be right), but it also means you get our genuine opinions, as we have them, and that’s all too rare in the censored world we live in.  If you like it, great.  If we offend, we’re sorry, that is never the intention. Anyway, this week’s topics include: More than 90% of Bitcoin has been mined. My worse analogy ever...it involves eggs. Microstrategy having purchased 23% of all newly mined Bitcoin since they entered. Jack Dorsey’s next moves. Orange-pilling your 70-year-old gamer neighbour and asking a 95-year-old to have a 5-year plan. Why you shouldn’t get a haircut and just stack sats. What makes people willing to hear the Bitcoin story. NFT’s, and why they are a bullshit sales pitch. Property is being sold for Bitcoin in Dubai. Why we are all still shitcoiners. EP19: Perth Heat Go All In on Bitcoin – with @CBO_21

Once you truly see the potential in Bitcoin, you go all in, and don’t look back. This week, we learn from THE Bitcoin Baseball team’s CBO (Chief Bitcoin Officer) Patrick O’Sullivan, that the first movers are Perth Heat. www.bitcoinperthheat.com We go right back to the start of Patrick’s Bitcoin story – the first Christmas lunch orange-pilling – all the way to his appointment as CBO, and what that means for the team. We discuss: His research, self-directed education and conscious decision to share his knowledge in the most impactful way. Conversations that started with Steve Nelkovski (CEO) in late 2019, and the work that has gone in since to transition to a Bitcoin standard organisation.  To hold it on the balance sheet, to pay players and staff and have Bitcoin embedded in the stadium (even buying a beer). The “fun side-project” of becoming a better Bitcoin advocate. Building the infrastructure to make it possible and using Bitcoin tools to take away the pain points (and costs) of the legacy system. How it’s easier as a nimble organisation that can start from a blank slate, and how competitive athletes instinctively ‘get it’. We talk about the streamlining the processes with players (particularly ones that move countries to play), the leadership, the board and future ambitions. Patrick relates Bitcoin’s proof of work to the energy required of an athlete to be elite.  Will humans continue to unlock energy reserves in the future.  If we do, Bitcoin wins. The positivity of responses from supporters, players, the media and other organisations. How long can Perth Heat’s competitors wait to not adopt a Bitcoin standard. Custody setup for corporate Bitcoin. How it feels to be the Chief Bitcoin Officer. Thanks Patrick.  I’m off to order a hat. EP18: Bitcoin Bush Bash Round Up

The weekend was awesome, the audio is appalling.  As I frequently remind him, Brendo is responsible for the audio, so please direct complaints his way. I’ll not doxx anyone here, but just summarise to say 40-50 bitcoiners rocked up to Murrurundi (rural New South Wales) for the 4th bush bash.  It’s the first time we’ve returned to a town, and we’ll definitely be back.  There are also ‘bashes’ in Beechworth (VIC) and Yeppoon (QLD).  We’d love to see TAS, SA, WA, ACT and NT events as well. Special mention to @hodloncomrades and @BTCSchellingPt for all the work they put in to make the event such a laid-back success. Great to meet so many solid bitcoiners, with not a scammer in sight. EP17: We Have a Troll with BowDog - @philip_bowman

Actually no, that’s not strictly true... Brendo has a troll.  Call us naïve, but what better way to engage than to invite him on the pod.  And it turns out, we all got on well.  Why?  Because we’re all bitcoiners, that’s why. Frankly, I wish Brendo had got a harder time, but apart from a few sly digs, BowDog let him off easy. 😉 This was a fun one for us.  We spoke about: How we all come in from different angles (BowDog came the Austrian economics route) but arrive at the same place. Remembering the time when the Bitcoin epiphany struck? The sheer volume of information you consume once you start going down the rabbit hole, and how much learning you have to do to find your conviction. Housing and the generational divide. Whether normies have to been burnt by shitcoins to learn. Enjoying the bear markets. EP16: There’s No Such Thing as a Bitcoiner with @BTCSchellingPt

The giants of Bitcoin Australia just keep showing up on the 2-Bit Idiots pod, and there is no better than WizardofAus. I’m also pleased to say it was our first meatspace interview, as Wiz joined us for a BBQ (before the mics were turned on) and whisky (while they were on). The pod had 2 main topics - Security and the Bitcoin Bush Bash: Security Security is a journey. Having Bitcoin is better than not having Bitcoin. You don’t need to be running a 3 of 5 multi-sig, with multiple hardware devices on day 1. You just need to work towards it. The path a lot of bitcoiners follow is generally: Exchange Custodial/Hot/Mobile Wallet Collaborative Custody Wallet Single-Signature Hardware Wallet Multi-Signature Hardware Wallet(s) (with 3rd party) Multi-Signature Hardware Wallet(s) Bitcoin Bush Bash www.bitcoinbushbash.info Next event 4th and 5th December in Murrurundi, NSW. EP15: Brendo’s Tattoo and all the Dongs - Hats & Brendo

EP15: Brendo’s Tattoo and all the Dongs - Hats & Brendo

Hats and Brendo shoot the shit about all things Bitcoin.  This week we cover: Elon Musk, THAT Twitter poll, unrealised capital gains and could he be selling stock to buy Bitcoin.  Are FAANG stocks becoming yesterday’s news. Tim Cook is now holding Bitcoin (and eTh) but Apple has no plans to purchase. We talk about when that will change and whether it’ll be company led, or shareholder forced. Hats says that Laser Eyes are a shitcoin, and it didn’t go down well. Why wildly swinging markets are your opportunity, if you put the effort into learning and building your conviction. Hint: www.bitcoin-first.com/learn but why they will decrease over time. Australian Houses Priced in Bitcoin. You think the value of your house is going up, @hodloncomrades proves you wrong (even when property prices in Noosa are rising $6000 per week). Why you need to find a Bitcoin maxi and hold on to them tight. Why you need to be buying on Lolli and paying with your Fold card. “Zimbabwe government consulting private sector on legalising Bitcoin”. Why the next great meme is the domino meme with flags instead of dominos. We talk about the terrible ‘official’ 6.2% CPI rate out of the US and why it’s way worse than that. Just look at the increase in Disney and Netflix subscriptions.  Biden is even trying to say that the money printer on steroids will correct the inflations problems (it won’t). EP14: Free Bitcoin Rewards with Lolli’s Matt Senter

EP14: Free Bitcoin Rewards with Lolli’s Matt Senter

Quick fire pods this week, and this time our guest is @MattSenter, CTO, Co-Founder of Lolli.com and Jason Mamoa lookalike. Mostly based in North Carolina and launched in 2018, Lolli is a service which requires no technical skills, but allows people to earn Bitcoin rewards whilst shopping online, without having to buy it directly. Through their browser extensions (Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari), iOS app (with Android beta testing shortly) or website, Lolli generates leads for a retailer, for which they receive a commission, and they pass on the lion’s share to the shopper in Bitcoin. The business model does not require them to collect and sell personal information, and the customer can withdraw their rewards (in BTC or USD) once they’ve earned $15. We speak to Matt about: Lolli the Business - Being able to demonstrate competent management of customer assets is good from an investment perspective. Launched in a bear market but were still having terrific growth. US only for now, but the next obvious stops would be the English-speaking countries, with the first stop being Canada, subject to regulatory hurdles. 20 remote staff, plus contractors as required. Lolli Merchants – More than 1000. How they build relationships with retailers. Discuss the little effort required from the retailer “minutes to set up if they are on a supported platform”. The challenges of onboarding larger brands as they are more wary of jumping into Bitcoin and may be pursuing other strategies. Customers – Estimates 60-70% are first time bitcoiners, and 20-25% are female, goal to educate about “not your keys, not your coins”. All website activity increases when Bitcoin moons. Customers posting screen shots of gains, with some effectively getting their purchases for free. Thanks Matt. EP13: Football, Politics, Bitcoin and Haggis Maximalism with @haggishodl

EP13: Football, Politics, Bitcoin and Haggis Maximalism with @haggishodl

When you sit down with a Scotsman to talk Bitcoin, the conversation inevitably turns to freedom. We start with a shout-out to Haggis’ meatspace mate @anaveragesalmon who helped his transition from “buying Bitcoin to speculate in a myth” to becoming a “freedom coin stacker”. Haggis tells us how during the first lockdown in Scotland he turned to Bitcoin education (multi-tasking with podcasts and being one of the plebs on Twitter) day and night to learn “what Bitcoin is, what it can do and what it plans to do...and how it’s going to change the world...because the only two finite things are time and Bitcoin”.  During that time, he realised he had to get his savings into a safer store of value. We discuss how The Bitcoin Standard gives you a whole new understanding of what money is, and how most of us have never really had to consider if the current system is fit for purpose. Haggis highlights the school building program in El Salvador, and how Bitcoin is genuinely saving lives, which makes him see the Bitcoin project and his contribution in a whole new light, and how he enjoys the reactions of friends and family when he tells them these stories. We talk orange-pilling your friends and how good it makes you feel to know you’re protecting them, when you’ve done the work and they trust your opinion, and how having 2 people helps you convince others. We talk Scottish football (soccer) and how putting a little Bitcoin on the balance sheet of your local sports team or club could level the playing field or even change balances of power completely, or at the very least ensure survival. We even see the Bitcoin virus infect PSV Eindhoven, Watford and Southampton. We delve into the thorny issues of politics, political oppression, Brexit and Scottish independence, but Haggis tells us he’s come to realise that politics in general is all just theatre and that the idea of a nation state is just that, an idea. Was great to outnumber Brendo. Thanks Haggis. EP12: Titanic or Bitcoin – Time to Choose - Hats & Brendo

We have a couple of guests over the weekend, so thought we’d squeeze in an extra ‘Hats and Brendo’ episode for you. We riff on: The Commonwealth Bank (Australia’s biggest bank with 15.9 million customers) announcing they are adding ‘digital assets’ to their banking app, and why that’s a good and a bad thing. Why no one likes a guy without a cake. Coinbase adding up to $1m Bitcoin collateralised loans.  We discuss why that brings the Michael Saylor speculative attack opportunity to everyone. Why fiat currency exchange is now dead in a world with Bitcoin. Why the greatest act of charity you can perform is dying with your Bitcoin. How many coins have been lost or haven’t moved in years. Why you shouldn’t wish your life away, and why slow adoption of Bitcoin is far better (but won’t be what happens). Hats analogy: Why buying Bitcoin now is saving you from going down on the Titanic. EP11: Why Crematoriums will be the new Singapore - Hats & Brendo

EP11: Why Crematoriums will be the new Singapore - Hats & Brendo

Hats and Brendo riff on all things that have caught their attention this week in Bitcoin. Why technology is difficult, and why that’s no different in Bitcoin. If you find it easy, you must become the go-to person in your friend and family group. Toxic Brendo trends on Twitter Business and Finance and tells us why he looks through all financial advice books for mentions of Bitcoin, and why most of the content is crap. If you want a list of good Bitcoin books, go to www.bitcoin-first.com/learn We discuss whether crematoriums should be fitted with a Bitcoin miner, to donate your body to the network. Find out what Lionel Richie and Homer Simpson have in common. Why do we trust politicians and bankers on money, when we don’t trust them on anything else? Max Keiser and David McWilliams discuss why Gresham’s Law suggests Bitcoin is a bad thing. Why Hats thinks there will be another cycle, but why he should be wrong. The narrative shift in the last 6 months on Bitcoin mining. When do whales start buying failing companies.  Who will be the first bitcoiners to own an airline, and how many businesses (including Bitcoin businesses) will outperform Bitcoin. What would you sell Bitcoin for? Preston Pysh and John Vallis talk about 1 Bitcoin being worth 100 salaries. We also touch on conspiracy theories around power shortages. EP10: Hope – Straight Outta Campton with @camilacampton

EP10: Hope – Straight Outta Campton with @camilacampton

Camila Campton, the Swan Force lead at Swan Bitcoin, joins us to discuss what makes all of us willing to talk about Bitcoin 24/7. A self-described newbie with a willingness to learn, Camila is crushing it with Swan, who first approached her to work on their social media but is now also presenting the Bitcoin En Espanol show with Javier Bastardo @criptobastardo from Venezuela. She sees herself as an educator and describes how Bitcoin makes you more selfless and loves building a toolbox of resources to help people learn. She first started learning about Bitcoin with her husband following the March 2020 market correction by listening to podcasts by Citizen Bitcoin, Stephan Livera, Matt Odell and Marty Bent. She describes it as a guilt-free addiction (and now job) that gives you hope, compared to a pessimistic outlook on life outside of Bitcoin. She sees it as important to speak to friends, family and Swan users about Bitcoin at a level they can understand, using all social channels and connecting on a human level to help them get off zero and start accumulating Satoshis. But also, the importance of establishing yourself as the Bitcoin person in your community, and letting people come to you when they are ready. We discussed how Bitcoin is viewed in Latin America (particularly Colombia) and how people still have more faith in the USD as a savings vehicle, and that both Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces have thriving Spanish speaking Bitcoin communities. Camila tells us her thoughts and experience of being a woman in Bitcoin. The only pushback was whether she was in Bitcoin for clout and attention, but she has proven her intentions through her work: “If you’re comfortable with your intent, keep doing you.” She feels she’s always had a lower time preference than her peers, but Bitcoin has allowed her to flex her savings muscle and find her people. Finally, we talk about bitcoiners being the toughest critics of Bitcoin, and how people who work for Bitcoin will have their time and effort respected. All Swan staff work from home, and although they could form a basketball team, none of us will ever be on it! All Camila’s social accounts are @camilacampton Do yourself a favour. EP9: How to Escape Inflation in Turkey (and everywhere else) with @efecini

EP9: How to Escape Inflation in Turkey (and everywhere else) with @efecini

The Turkish Lira is in freefall and the central bank just cut interest rates by 2 percentage points, making things significantly worse for Turkish people. This week we are joined by Efe - twitter.com/efecini - a Turkish Bitcoin maximalist, who tells us what it's really like. Efe was the translator of the Bitcoin Whitepaper into Turkish on bitcoin.org.  He's also just about to start a Bitcoin podcast and newsletter that translates useful Bitcoin resources into Turkish, for Turkish people. Check out twitter.com/BitcoinVeDiger (translates as “Bitcoin and Other Things”) Although Efe was getting a 10% annual increase in salary as a software engineer, he realised he was not keeping up with inflation. Published figures of 19% CPI are not accurate and although unique to the individual, Efe puts his own inflation rate at 40-45% per annum! He knew he needed to own something, so in 2017 he started his journey through shitcoin trading to Bitcoin maximalism. We discuss how friends were put off 'crypto' because they lost out to shitcoin trading in 2017.  He tells us that Turkish people are fully aware that inflation is there (far better than people who live in ‘strong’ currency countries), but because food prices can go up 10% every month, this makes their behaviour understandably high time-preference.  We learn how Turkish people currently hedge against inflation using the USD and gold, and even how it is traditional to receive gold at your wedding and never sell it. We also discuss how Bitcoin is portrayed in Turkey by politicians, bankers and the fiat news, and why their personal incentives make them opposed to Bitcoin. There is a great need for a Bitcoin only exchange in Turkey. The conversation then switches to his podcasting plans, and the experience we have had so far with 2BitIdiots, where we talk practicalities, analytics and platforms. Thanks Efe.  Great chat. EP8: Stay Humble Stack Yachts - Why Fat Lazy Brendo Won't Clean His Pool - Hats & Brendo

In this episode we talk Bitcoin freestyle. No plan, just see where it takes us. We end up talking about: The housing ‘boom’.  Why you think you’re getting rich but aren’t. Hats love for Jeff Booth, and why the ‘growth forever’ system is unsustainable. Skirting around the ‘C’ word. Inflation and why the CPI metric looks bad but doesn’t even tell the whole bad story. Depression, and how Bitcoin can help you regain hope. Also, being “overwhelmed” by all the people you can’t save. Domains, and how we’re not just stacking sats. Elon Musk talking shit, but still owning Bitcoin, owning stackingsats.com and moving Telsa to the Bitcoin capital of the world, Austin. Hats meets Jagger and Brendo meets Thor. Murrayfield is a stadium and not someone from the Wiggles. Taking 20 years for 1.8m Salvadorans to be banked, and 20 days for 2.2m Salvadorans to have a Bitcoin wallet. Why Bitcoiners are not pumping their own bags. Why the bottom 55% of the population might only have 6348 sats. Why Bitcoin is not included in The Big Picture report! EP6: Do You Want Free Bitcoin? - Hats & Brendo

Of course you do! Does that title seem a bit spammy?  It does, yes.  But, it is possible, and this pod will tell you how. Many people still think you must buy a whole Bitcoin, and at around AUD65k a coin you’d be forgiven for thinking that it’s out of reach for the everyday person. However, this is not true.  In the same way as $1 is made up of 100 cents, 1 Bitcoin is made up of 100,000,000 sats (short for Satoshis).  So, each Satoshi only costs around $0.0006.  Everyone can afford that! @BitcoinBrendo and @StackingHats sit down to talk about the various ways you can get free sats or even earn sats: https://use.foldapp.com/r/ALTHXAUK https://www.lolli.com https://thndr.games (Bitcoin Bounce and Turbo 84) https://thesunexchange.com We also touch on fiat rewards programmes, how many sats the average person has in the future and using Bitcoin as collateral. EP4: DCA your Self-Managed Super Fund with @AP_Bitcoin

‘Andy ∞/21M’ is from England and now lives in Australia.  He started looking around for answers about money and savings around the time of the COVID crash, and has in a short time, become a Bitcoin maxi and Self-Managed Super Fund DCAer. In this episode we dig into his fall down the rabbit hole, to help us understand why he considers Bitcoin his long-term savings solution to ensure his own financial security and that of his family. He tells us how he has changed from a more “hand-to-mouth" existence, to someone with a low time preference. He talks us through the process he followed, going from no-coiner to SMSF bitcoiner in 18 months, and the FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) that he received from the legacy financial system about his decision and how you must consider your personal risk tolerance to ride the volatility that comes with being a Bitcoin hodler. EP3: Central Banks, Fiat Mining, Coconut Shells and Sex Dungeons - Hats & Brendo

Welcome back and thanks for sticking with us. In this episode Hats gives us an idiot’s guide to Central Banking and why it is their policies and actions that are making you, and almost everyone else, poorer. Using a simple analogy (and if Hats can come up with it, it must be) we guarantee you will understand the problem and why Bitcoin is the solution. We also discuss the idea of Fiat Mining, what it is, and why it may be the best thing you can do right now. Brendo gives us an exclusive on his kinetic energy Bitcoin mining watch (you gotta hear this), and we hear how Hats breaks chairs and abandons them in sex dungeons. EP2: Daniel Prince: The (Not So) Toxic Bitcoin Maxi

EP2: Daniel Prince: The (Not So) Toxic Bitcoin Maxi

I (Hats) had a DM exchange with Daniel a bit over a year ago, but other than that, we didn’t know each other. So, when we released our first episode (and had a few podcasting issues) I decided to reach out again to ask for some advice. Daniel’s podcast Once Bitten, is one of our go-to pods for all things Bitcoin, and in the last couple of years he’s really established himself as not only a great host and interviewer, but as a source of reliable content. There was no need for him to help us, but not only did he do that, he offered to come on as our first guest. Now, we’re not necessarily going after Bitcoin royalty as guests, but we weren’t going to refuse, and it was great to sit and chat about his journey so far.  Oh, and we got to meet Lauren so that’s also a highlight for us. We’re still learning about the audio side of things, so bear with us, but we hope you enjoy the rip. Please check out Daniel's Once Bitten podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/once-bitten/id1497540130 https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9hbmNob3IuZm0vcy8xMzQ2ZjllOC9wb2RjYXN0L3Jzcw== And his book: Choose Life: The Tools, Tricks and Hacks of Long-Term Family Travellers, Worldschoolers and Digital Nomads https://amzn.to/3k1MaO3 If you'd like to contact us, please do so via Twitter: https://twitter.com/2BitIdiots Or visit our website: https://www.bitcoin-first.com

EP1: Back Story - Hats & Brendo

EP1: Back Story - Hats & Brendo

A first attempt at a Bitcoin podcast (or any podcast) by @StackingHats and @BitcoinBrendo.   The purpose of the pod is to introduce Bitcoin to listeners in a way that is not filled with jargon and is approachable for the everyday person. Along the way, we hope to bring on guests that will either teach us something about Bitcoin, or just tell us the story of how and why they got involved. If that sounds appealing to you, and you'd like to have your voice heard, please make contact on Twitter via the @2BitIdiots account. Bitcoin can be simple or incredibly complex, depending on how far down the rabbit hole you want to go.  We also have bitcoin-first.com that is split into 4 main sections, that can help you start your journey wherever suits you: Learn Earn Buy  Play The podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Anchor, Breaker, Pocket Casts, and Radio Public. Thanks for listening.
