HHK Runner Profiles - Traci Falbo
Traci is a 51-year-old mother of 2 and a full-time pediatric physical therapist, and an accomplished American ultra runner. Her accomplishments are many, but most notably, she has run a marathon in every state and has won over 22 marathons. She’s been on Team USA on the 24-hour team 3 different times and was a member of the USA 100k team in 2016. She completed the grand slam of ultra running in 2013 which is Western States, Vermont, Leadville and Wasatch 100s all in the same year. She was the American record for a 48-hour indoor track event when she ran 242 miles. She ran 14:45 at Tunnel Hill 100 miler and set a new American Trail Record in 2014, which she held for a period of time. She’s been several Team USAs for different events and distances where she has earned bronze, silver and gold medals as a member of those teams. Traci is sponsored by Squirrel’s Nut Butter, Running Skirts, Nathan, Drymax Socks, and Epsom-It. And somehow, she’d done all of this living and training in the flat lands of Indiana while she’s raised a family and balanced a full-time job.

HHK Runner Profiles - Alondra Moody
Alondra Moody is a 46-year-old mother of four that currently works in physical therapy. She’s also a personal trainer and running coach primarily focused on ultra-runners and makes her home in Knoxville, TN. Alondra is an ambassador for Xoskin and runs for her local running store, the Long Haul. She has a long list of wins among the ladies, including the Iron Mountain 40 miler three times, Chattanooga Mountain Stage Race, Black Toe 12-hour Run twice, Yamacraw 50k twice, Norris Dam Hard Trail Race 4 times, the Georgia Jewel 50 Miler, and Cumberland trail 50k twice and many more wins. Alondra finished the Western States 100 miler in 2017 and has five Hellgate 100k finishes. Most notably, she was the overall winner at the No Business 100 miler and one of her wins at the Norris Dam Hard Trail Race was also the outright win as well. Alondra set FKT's for the SCAR, Pitchell, and Foothills trails. . She has 41 wins and 10 additional podium finishes out of 60 races on Ultrasignup.com. She’s done all of this in the past 10 years, when she began running at the age of 36 while working and raising a family.

HHK 2023 Runner Profile: Dan Green
Dan Green is a Pennsylvania native and Marshall grad that now makes his home in Huntington, where he works for Robert’s Running and Walking Shop. After being the runner-up at the Rim to River 100 in 2021, he won the race in 2022 and set a course record of 15:34. He has wins at Yamacraw 50k and Dark Sky 50 miler and a top ten finish at the highly competitive Black Canyon 100k in Arizona. Dan is coming back for the second year of the Hurricane Hundred K and is eager to race for the money against top-level talent.

The Hurricane Hundred K is a 100k trail race/run in Hurricane, West Virginia. It's the first race of its kind in West Virginia and will take place in September 2022. The race is hosted by Meeks Mountain Trials and the Meeks Mountain Trail Alliance. In this mini-series, we talk to a variety of runners who plan to run the 100k in September.
Air Force Reserve Lt. Col. (Dr.) Mark Cucuzzella is a Professor at West Virginia University School of Medicine. He is designing programs to promote healthier and better running in the military with the USAF Efficient Running Project. Mark has presented running workshops on over 50 military bases in the last 10 years and continues to teach through Healthy Running. A competitive runner for over 35 years -with more than 100 marathon and ultramarathon finishes - and continues to compete as a national-level Masters runner. He has won the Air Force Marathon twice. He is the race director of Freedom's Run race series in West Virginia and director of the Natural Running Center, an education portal designed to teach healthier running . Mark is also the owner of Two Rivers Treads - A Center for Natural Running and Walking in his hometown of Ranson, W.Va.

Hurricane 100k Racer Profile. Alex Minor is a 24-year-old salesman at Robert Running Shop in West Virginia. His best pitch is "buy these shoes and you'll be fast like me." Alex hails from Morgantown, West Virginia, and currently lives in Huntington. He attended University High School and Marshall University. At Marshall, Alex was a 2-time all-conference runner and holds the course record in the Yamacraw 50k (4:19 in 2021) as well as the Cabin Fever 50k (3:43). For those of you at home trying to do the math, that's a 7:12 pace on the trails for a 50k. The Hurricane Hundred K is a 100k trail race/run in Hurricane, West Virginia. Caleb is 28 years old and currently the assistant Cross Country/Track Coach at Marshall University.
Caleb attended Hurricane High School and went on to attend Marshall University. Caleb is a 2-time Rim to River Champion, 3-time KT 50k Champion, and was the 1st West Virginian to participate in the Boston Marathon (2019).
His PR's include: Marathon: 2:32, 50k: 3:57:41, 40-Mile: 5:01:53, 50-Mile: 6:55:07, 100-Mile:-15:37:05.
Caleb is originally from Hurricane, WV, and now resides in Huntington.

HollyAnn Swann is an Ultrarunner originally from Blountsville, AL, and makes her home currently in Huntington, WV.
HollyAnn ran Cross Country at Auburn University at Montgomery for 4 years and then 1 year at Marshall University in both indoor and outdoor track and field. HollyAnn is the current record holder of all distances at Auburn Montgomery and Marshall University Track and Field record holder at the 5k, 10k, and distance medley relay distances. HollyAnn was the 2021 Women’s Champion at WV’s Rim to River 100 miler in a smoking fast 19:00:37 where she was 4th overall and was an 1:40 ahead of the next closest lady in the field. PLUS, she is the inaugural Cabin Fever 50k women’s champ in 4:17 and was the 7th place overall finish in a very competitive field.

Champions of Foster Care with Mission WV
May is National Foster Care Month and to celebrate, Episode 6 of 3880 features Kelly Thompson and Rachel Kinder of Mission WV. The show explores the current climate of Foster Care in West Virginia and provides information on ways to support the growing number of children in need of a home.
If you've ever considered foster care or adoption, now is the time to take some action! Over 7000 children in West Virginia and over 400,000 kids in the United States (source: adoptuskids.org) are in need of a home. Mission WV is a great place to start. If foster care isn't for you, you can still support by donating to a great organization making a difference in the lives of kids and families around the state.
Mission WV changes the lives of youth and families through promoting positive futures by recruiting foster families, providing life skills education, and creating community connections. They are active in supporting foster/adopt families from all over West Virginia and provide support and education programs to achieve their visions - to provide every child with a loving family and the knowledge to make positive choices for a healthier future.

Refugee Highway Part 3 - The Front Lines
In this final installment (Part 3) in a series called The Refugee Highway, Joe Dunn and I talk about our experiences Greece - From working in a drop-in center in Thessaloniki to the literal front line of this crisis on the island of Lesvos (at Camp Moria) - We talk through the harsh realities that refugee families face when deciding to flee tyranny and oppression. Thousands are leaving in search of peace, safety, and shelter but arrive to find conditions that are unimaginable.

The Refugee Highway Part 2 - Places, Faces & Conversations
This is part 2 of a series called The Refugee Highway. I spent 2 weeks in Europe (Netherlands, Germany, and Greece) with Joe Dunn of Great Commission Europe/Reliant traveling to refugee camps, visiting with refugee families, and working alongside those who have been impacted by this crisis.
In Episode 4, Part 2, Joe and I recount our trip through Amsterdam, Germany, and Greece and discuss the different living conditions (Refugee Camps) and situations faced by refugees - Debates, cultural challenges, and real people struggling through this crisis. We also talk about the different refugee families and groups that we met along the way and conversations that took place.
