Pride Edition 2022
Pride has grown and evolved considerably since its origin as a riot against Police brutality at The Stonewall Inn in 1969 New York. It’s the time when the queer community as at its most visible, a monthly focal point for us to come together and celebrate the accomplishments that we have made as well as the found family we have forged.
But our fight is not over. Queer and especially trans people are under attack both in the U.S. where 240+ anti-queer bills have been passed in 2022 alone, and in the U.K. where trans people are continually fighting for equal rights and healthcare. That is why this week we are bringing you a special #5Things episode that dives into the meaning of Pride, how we can practice allyship to the queer community, and where Pride evolves from now.
Tommy Boyce speaks with Graham Nolan, Bee Pahnke and Asad Shaykh about #5Things you should be thinking about during Pride month this year:
- Why do we have Pride campaigns?
- How has Pride changed?
- How do we discuss and practice allyship?
- How should Pride evolve?
- What does Pride mean to you?
Host: Tommy Boyce (Grey NY)
Panel: Graham Nolan (Do the WeRQ), Bee Pahnke (Grey London) and Asad Shaykh (Grey London and Pride in London)
