38 - Why We Do It
Ever wonder why we sit and stand and kneel so much? Or why the things are on the altar that are on the altar? Or why we carry the gospels so high down the aisle? There are a lot of questions to be answered about our liturgy and we’re here for it. Join us as we walk through the Sunday service and tell you all about why we do the things we do! But first, it’s been 28 years since the last podcast, so we spend some time catching up. Thanks for listening! Make sure to submit questions and comments for future episodes to afterthelikeness@gmail.com!

37 - The Life of Father Eric
Don’t worry! This is not an obituary! Matt asked Father Eric once about how he became a priest and what led him to that decision. But, Matt, being Matt and all, has forgotten most of it because this was discussed during a Saints game. So today, Father Eric tells Matt and all of you how about his life and how all this fun began! It’s a heck of a story. Thanks for listening! Make sure to submit questions and comments for future episodes to afterthelikeness@gmail.com!

36 - Predensity. I mean… Predestiny.
Holy Week is over but Easter is still here! Have you ever been asked by a barista what Episcopalians believe about salvation and had no idea what to say to sound like you have any idea what you’re talking about? Matt has! And that’s what we talk about first! After that we dive into predestination and how Episcopalians see this topic. Thanks for listening! Make sure to submit questions and comments for future episodes to afterthelikeness@gmail.com!

Thanks for listening! Make sure to submit questions and comments for future episodes to afterthelikeness@gmail.com!

34 - Max Episcopalian
We’re back! I wonder how many times I’ve typed that in the tenure of this podcast now. After an unintended hiatus, we have returned to discuss what it means to be Max Episcopalian. Or maybe a 9th degree Episcopalian? I recently concussed Father Eric reveals all the secrets he learned about reaching peak Episcopalianism during his out of mind out of body state. Or maybe some stuff he picked up during seminary and his personal faith journey. But either way, tune in! Thanks for listening! Make sure to submit questions and comments for future episodes to afterthelikeness@gmail.com!

33 - The First Interview - Rev. Dr. Nathan Jennings (Extended Episode)
Our first interview on ATL! Today we welcome the Rev. Dr. Nathan Jennings to discuss an assortment of topics. The Rev. Dr. Nathan Jennings is the Milton Richardson Associate Professor of Liturgics and Anglican Studies at the Seminary of the Southwest. A native of Austin, Professor Jennings returned to his hometown when he joined the faculty of Seminary of the Southwest in 2005. Jennings has also served as the Director of the Anglican Studies Program at Seminary of the Southwest since 2008. Jennings is interested in liturgical theology, dogmatic theology, ascetical theology, theological hermeneutics and the way these disciplines intersect and inform one another. Most importantly, he was/is Father Eric's favorite professor! Join us for a great conversation, and also WE MET C.S. LEWIS! Tune in to hear about that. Merry Christmas, everyone!!!

32 - Becoming Episcopalian
So we’ve talked so much about Episcopalian ideas and what it means to be an Episcopalian, but how does one even become an Episcopalian? What does it take to be as cool as Matt and Father Eric? Okay, scratch that. How does one do what we do and yet hopefully be way cooler than us while they do it? Tune in and find out! Also, we introduce a new segment: From the Mouths of Babes. Thanks for listening! Make sure to submit questions and comments for future episodes to afterthelikeness@gmail.com!

Make sure to submit questions and comments for future episodes to afterthelikeness@gmail.com!

30 - Prayer (Livin’ on a?)
We’re back! After a six week break (Narnia Fatigue), we’re here to discuss prayer. What is prayer? How do other faiths and worldviews see it? And how do we pray? 29 - Narnia: Part Trois: We Actually Finish the Book

28 - Narnia: Part Deux: We Actually Talk About the Book

Make sure to submit questions for future episodes to afterthelikeness@gmail.com!

27 - Narnia: Episcopal Lit is Lit
We’re back for season 2! Father Eric’s dreams come true this episode. We finally discuss C.S. Lewis. And, unfortunately, we recorded this same episode two weeks ago but it has been lost forever as Matt’s computer died at the end of recording and nothing saved. Insert sad face here. BUT here we are to make up for it, and hey, maybe it’s even better this time! We talk about the significance of literature in Christianity and specifically in the Anglican tradition, and we have our another Stump-the-Priest question (Thanks Sam)! Make sure to submit questions for future episodes to afterthelikeness@gmail.com!

26 - The Sabbath (Not Black)
Time to kick back, relax, and Sabbath it up to this episode. We talk about where the Sabbath began, how it’s been historically practiced, and what you can do to practice it today. Don’t forget to send us your Stump-the-Priest questions to afterthelikeness@gmail.com. Enjoy!

Round 3! We’re in our twenties! Woot woot! Who likes tea and crumpets? Apparently Matt does! As like as “crumpets” just means “delicious cookies.” And yeah, he’ll drink some tea if it’s an obstacle in the way of the cookies. Oh, and also, we talk about pastoral charisms: Encouragement, Helps, Hospitality, Mercy, and Pastoring. Which one(s) might you have? If it’s hospitality, please send more cookie crumpets.
