#22 Beau Hanlon: Bike 4 Burns

#22 Beau Hanlon: Bike 4 Burns

Today on the podcast, I was joined by none other than Heau Banlon, better known as Beau Hanlon before his FB page was hacked. A rotary enthusiast, drifting supporter, firefighter, cyclist and man on a mission with Bike for Burns

A sensational human and a wonderful conversation. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

If you want to kick in a few dollarydoos to support burns research and help us add $5k to make Beau ride the equivalent of summiting Everest, (in addition to the ride from Gladstone to Brisbane) follow this link. If it's $1 or $1000, it all helps. You can also donate old pushbikes to Heau Banlon, he will do them up, sell them on marketplace and donate the proceeds. https://fundraise.childrens.org.au/.../beauhanlon/bike4burns

#018 Maggie Ngyuen: Cafe O-Mai

#018 Maggie Ngyuen: Cafe O-Mai

The daughter of a Vietnamese immigrant, Maggie grew up in western Sydney. This was only after her mother came to Australia in a boat her uncles made in secret to flee as refugees. Moving to Brisbane as an adult, she opened a restaurant in the valley with her brother. Having trained and practiced as a chiropractor prior to this, it was a pretty wild change of course. However, in her mind was still her perfect vision of a place yet to be brought to life. Maggie reflects on the journey that takes us back 11 years, when she created this vision in a side street of Annerley with her mother Kim.

#015 Alex Lawton & Tyler Hood: Vector Etch

#015 Alex Lawton & Tyler Hood: Vector Etch

Alex Lawton and Tyler Hood are a couple that could best be described as a creative powerhouse. As co-owners of Vector Etch, they run a business that specialises in laser cutting for jewelry makers and designers.

However, their creative endeavors only start there. Alex creates brooches, earrings, and other jewelry and has gone on to create Laser Design School, to allow others to learn the craft. She runs multiple other events under TheMonday for specialty coffee brewing, workshops through Lazer Unicorn, as well as other events and creative mornings.

Tyler cut his teeth in agency land as an Art Director and is also a co-owner of Vector Etch. In his spare time, he's plays with an indie band called Dad's Fastest Swimmers, loves film photography, and has questionable automotive choices that he has turned into the SLOW car meetups.

You can follow their many adventures via the links below.

You've got to load up a system to find the limits. The point of failure. The opportunity to improve.

#005 Most people are full of ideas. Lots of talk and no action.

It's the doing that matters. You might have the best idea in the world, but if you fail to take action, you fail to move forward.

#004 A little side note today about pre-production.

I'm all about video production and over the years, I've picked up a few things. One of the biggest is time spent in pre-production. Spending time on the planning makes all the difference. Took me a while to really appreciate that fact!
