In 2013, she and architect Ryan Palibroda founded ALLELES with the vision of giving people with a missing upper or lower limb a unique way to show some style. Over time, ALLELES has gained national and international recognition for its custom pieces made of FDA-grade ABS plastic, a material that allows for further modification and customization based on each individual’s need. Margarita de Guzman is one of very few female archaeologist entrepreneurs in Canada. She is the Founder of Circle CRM Group Inc. and has over 20 years of extensive archaeological experience and knowledge in all fields related to historical resource consulting. Throughout her career, she has managed many large scale projects and recorded numerous historic resources sites. Recognizing that the archaeological work she and her team perform involves artifacts from distinct and unique Indigenous cultures, Margarita is dedicated to inclusion and collaboration with Indigenous partners in the field, and has created an Indigenous Inclusion Strategy. Most recently, Margarita launched The Fair Field Foundation, a program created to champion and celebrate female archaeologists by providing women-led engagement opportunities.

Philippe Lucas PhD is a psychedelic and cannabis researcher and President of SABI Mind, a clinic group providing access to psychedelic-assisted therapy in the treatment of mental health, pain and problematic substance use. Philippe was founder and Executive Director of the Vancouver Island Compassion Society, one of Canada’s first medical cannabis dispensaries, a founding Board member of the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies Canada, and co-founder of the Victoria Association of Psychedelic Studies. More recently, he worked as VP, Global Patient Research & Access at Tigray, where he oversaw a comprehensive international clinical and observational cannabis research program. Philippe has received a number of accolades for his patient research and advocacy, including the Americans for Safe Access Researcher of the Year Award 2021, the Cannabis Council of Canada Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Shashi Behl is the Founder and CEO of Joydrop Inc., a Canadian jewelry company that has expanded stores across Canada. Her business is built on the craft of female entrepreneurs, local, national and international, and she particularly enjoys sharing each unique creator story. She is extremely passionate about supporting female entrepreneurs and advocating for women in business. Most recently, she was named the 2022 Independent Retail Ambassador of the Year by the Retail Council of Canada, an award that recognizes contributions of a local independent retailer to his or her community. After a series of singles, Kaeyae recently released her first EP, titled 17times (which after listening to the podcast you’ll come to understand has significant meaning). At 13 minutes, the EP feels like a poetic reflection – which it is – but it’s only a fraction of the depth of Kaeyae, which I learned through her story in this month’s podcast.

Jeff Neufeld is the shareholder and president of Neuhoff Capital Corporation, a long-term value investment company that owns a number of operating businesses involved in manufacturing metal construction products and industrial racking and shelving, alongside private and public investments in logistics, infrastructure, insurance, technology, humans, and community. He began his investment career in grade 8 with the purchase of 2 Union Pacific shares and founded Neuhoff in 2010 with the purchase of a small Calgary manufacturing operation. In the last decade, NCC has expanded operations from being Calgary-centric to operating across Western Canada, employs about 50 people (from 2!) and has tripled the revenue. Jeff has thoroughly enjoyed the transition to business after a first career as a concert artist, has a family that he loves being around, and community involvement that brings him tremendous joy.
