S4 E1: FEAR NOT | Turning Away From Social Fear
In a world of fear based influencers and influence, it's time to turn away from social fear. Learn more in this week's episode.
Psalm 46:2 -- Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
Psalm 91:5 -- You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
Proverbs 3:7 -- Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.
Isaiah 8:11-13 --
11 This is what the Lord says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people:
12“Do not call conspiracy
everything this people calls a conspiracy;
do not fear what they fear,
and do not dread it.
13The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy,
he is the one you are to fear,
he is the one you are to dread.
Isaiah 41:10 -- So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 51:6-8
Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke,
the earth will wear out like a garment
and its inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation will last forever,
my righteousness will never fail.
7
“Hear me, you who know what is right,
you people who have taken my instruction to heart:
Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals
or be terrified by their insults.
8
For the moth will eat them up like a garment;
the worm will devour them like wool.
But my righteousness will last forever,
my salvation through all generations.”
JOHN 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

S3E7: Non-Linear Healthcare | What You Should Know to Heal Your Body
When something is wrong with our body, we often goto a doctor. But healthcare isn't linear. In fact, there are specialists like chiropractors and pelvic floor specialists that can help you heal things a regular doctor knows nothing about. In this episode I talk about my personal experience with recent specialists, and how we can get back to understanding basic human anatomy by using non-linear healthcare.

S3 E6: Embracing Homesteading Sub-Communities + The "Poverty" Mindset
Homesteading is a currently a major movement in America and beyond. And while the greater homesteading description is "to live a more sustainable life", there are sub communities of homesteaders within that greater homesteading movement. Today we're going over what some of those communities are, some of the stereotypes around them, and maybe discover which community you fit into. Plus, we're talking about the poverty mindset around homestead—do you have to be rich or poor to homestead? Or neither!? Find out in this episode of the Choosing Simple podcast.

S3 E5: Herbs You Need for the "End of the World"
In this episode we talk about a list of 20 or so herbs that you absolutely need in your apothecary for an "end of the world" scenario. What do you do when you can't get to the hospital. What if the medical system doesn't exist anymore? Or maybe more simply, what happens if you have something you need to treat and there's no time to get to a medical facility? Grab a notebook and pencil, you'll want to write this info down.

S3 E3: The Episode About Kids | At the Pace of the Children

S3 E2: Did God REALLY Say That? | The Story of Adam and Eve
Modern theologians and christians like to state that Eve "usurped" her role as a woman and wife when it comes to the serpent and the fruit. But the reality is that we don't actually know what the Bible says. Coincidentally, Eve also found herself in that situation when the serpent questioned her, "Did God REALLY say that?" And it begs the question, do we really know what the Bible says in general? In this episode we use this example of Adam and Eve, and how Eve was deceived because she didn't know the truths of God.

S3 E1: When God Speaks to Us | The Story of Our New House
Do you believe that God still speaks to us through His Holy Spirit? In this episode, I talk about how we found our brand new homestead, and how intricately God was in it all. How He led us away from one home, to find this home. How He gave me a dream about our future daughter, and more. God still speaks to us, we just have to be willing to listen.

S2 E6: Is Herbalism Witchcraft? And Other Christian Herb Questions
I get this all the time—herbalism is witchcraft, or, if it's not, it will send you down that path. If it's not that statement, then it's "if you believe in herbalism then you aren't relying on God." In this episode we debunk a lot of this doctrine and unbiblical theory, and show exactly why herbalism is biblical, and normally isn't due to witchcraft.

S2 E4: The Gardener's Apprentice | When the Garden Teaches
We have been constantly trying to get back to "the garden" ever since we were banished from Eden. But what we may not realize is that God still speaks to us through the garden. In this episode, I'm sharing with you what God has been teaching me through the garden recently.

S2 E3: How America Gets the Proverbs 31 Woman Wrong
Westernized culture often leads women to believe that they should be barefoot, at home, quiet, and oppressed in many situations. I hear it often, "women shouldn't speak in church, women shouldn't lead, women shouldn't.....". Often times, churches will use the Proverbs 31 woman to back up their mentality. But the Proverbs 31 woman just proves their mentality wrong. In this episode, we're going through Proverbs 31, Galatians, and even some of the most popular women in the Bible, to prove just how wrong the "oppressed wife" mindset really is.

What is God doing in the midst of all the rioting, virus outbreak, hatred, and calamity? Today I dive into what God has been pulling me to say for a few weeks now after learning about a Christian friend who recently lost some contracts with businesses because of who he is and what he believes. S1 E20: At the Pace of the Children
Have you ever felt like being a parent is inconvenient? We always have other things to do—clean the house, get work done. Whatever it is, sometimes, as parents, we feel like we're just trudging along at a pace we're not ok with. But what is the standard pace as a parent, after all? In today's podcast we break down a few scriptures, and we learn just what Jacob meant when he said in Genesis that he would walk at the pace of the children and livestock. Because in real life, as a parent, it's all about the pace of the least of these. And sometimes we'll find that when we slow down to their pace, life gets a little less overwhelming.

S1 E16: Choosing Simple in the Midst of Adversity & Chaos | Searching for a King
In 1 Samuel, Israel pleaded Samuel for a King. They wanted someone who could protect them, simple because they suddenly became fearful of a neighboring nation. What they had forgotten is that God had gone before them and fought every battle before they went into battle. Could we be like Israel in the United States? Could the chaos, adversity, riots, disease and more simply be a people group demanding a king? In the midst of it all, how do we choose to be simple people? In this episode, we're going over it all.

S1 E5 : The Burden of "Looking Pretty"
In a society filled with pressures and burdens, the last thing you need as a woman and mama is to have the burden of "looking pretty". In this episode, Amy talks about something she recently experienced, and how the judgements of other women can weigh heavy. We take a look at 1 Peter 3, and what God has to say about true beauty. We encourage one another to do what makes us happy, not what burdens us in this lifestyle of beauty. If "making" yourself beautiful is something you love doing, that's great! If you don't want to wear makeup, that's ok too! But at no time should it ever be a burden to you.
IN THIS EPISODE --
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves." [ 1 Peter 3:3-5 NIV ]

S1 E4: How Do You Find Joy in the Midst of the Chaos?
An instagram follower recently asked me how I find time to sit and enjoy life in the midst of the everyday chaos, so I decided to answer her in this week's podcast. The reality is that there are several different ways to find joy, but the ultimate key is choosing and creating joy. Listen to some stories I share in this week's episode, and maybe even carve some time to find your own joy today.

"Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." -- 2 Corinthians 12:6-10
