I loved meeting and talking with Jessica Harris. I am so glad that her publisher, Baker Books, reached out to me about her new book called, Quenched. I wanted to take some time and read a couple of passages from Scripture as we enter into Christmas weekend. I read from Isaiah 9:6-7 and Luke 2. I pray that each one of you will take time to take time to remember the real reason for this season that our Savior was born to fulfill God's plan here on Earth. He was born as the perfect Son of God, to take our sins away so we can spend eternity with Him. She reminds each of us to keep what is first, first. I learned a lot from this conversation with Steven T. Collis. I first heard about him when I received a copy of his newest book, Praying with the Enemy, from his publisher. Although I am not great with the names of the gentleman this book is based off of, their story is one that will positively influence everyone who reads it. Hearing the story of two men put into an impossible situation who help each other survive during the Korean War was very intriguing to me because I had 2 grandfathers who were stationed in Germany during the war. We also talk about something I never talk about, which is politics. I met Amy Brady through the Dreamers Summit that I attended a couple of years back through Horacio Printing. When I met Kelly Lester at the NRB Convention in March, I knew I had to have her on the podcast! At that time, I only knew one part of her story. It was only the beginning! Today's guest is someone I have been online friends with for many years, but finally got to meet her in person in March of this year at the NRB conference. Micah Hanson is such a beautiful person inside and out, who has been in the trenches covered in dirt and has fought to the other side with God at the helm. She has battled from co-dependency and people pleasing, through a toxic relationship and illness to finally understand and walk in what God has planned for her life. So this week, I decided to drop a 2nd episode! Today's discussion is with George A. Wood. He is the co-author of "The Uncovery," which comes on July 26th. George understands the broken, the addicted, and the "lost" because he was one of them. I loved this interview with Andrea Polnaszek!!  We met and chatted at the NRB conference in Nashville in March, and I couldn't wait to continue it on the podcast.  Her story is unique because of where she started and where she has ended up.  Andrea is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has spent her clinical career helping children and their families communicate their feelings. She earned her Bachelors degree in Social work at Gordon College, a Master’s in Social Work and a Certificate in Theology from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Andrea provides clinical services to individuals and families suffering from trauma in The Chippewa Valley of Wisconsin. She is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy and as a Family Trauma Specialist. Andrea employs creative intervention: art, narrative, and play in her practice. She also equips parents with skills to understand and enjoy their children’s unique learning styles. She is a sought after speaker for organizations and churches across the United States. Andrea believes that everyone struggles to maintain balance as a whole person: mentally, physically and spiritually. It has been a joy for her to share the story of struggle and trump through screenwriting. My guest is Pastor Brad Hoefs and this conversation is filled with ways that we, as Christians, can help those with mental illness. Hoefs’ life took a dramatic turn in the spring of 1995 due to a manic episode which became public and ended his role as the senior pastor of one of the nation’s fastest-growing churches. At that time, the people of Community of Grace Lutheran Church surrounded the Hoefs family and provided a safe place for them to heal and find hope again as they found a way forward – a philosophy that has been at the core of the DNA of Fresh Hope for Mental Health since its conception. This episode was 100% a God appointment!  I received an email the night after the first day of the NRB Convention from Cameron Arnett's company asking if I would like to interview him.  I had one of two times available on the last day of the Convention and obviously it worked out!  He is such an amazing man of God and I am so excited for you to hear his heart behind the work he does, and also about the beautiful relationship he has with his wife, BJ.   Cameron Arnett is an award-winning actor in television, film, and theater hailing from Port-Au-Prince Haiti. He is also an author, speaker, film director, and producer. Cameron has appeared on just about every major network. I met Rachel Bruno at the NRB Convention at the beginning of March.  I heard her story and had all of the feelings!  I knew she needed to come on the podcast to tell her story.  This is a longer episode, but it is such an important story for everyone to hear.  There was another very similar case that happened in the last few weeks and I didn't realize how big of a problem this is. Rachel is a wife to her husband of 19 years, and a mom of two boys. As a business and communication specialist, her goals were to start a business, and become financially independent so she could start a family. Things drastically changed in the summer of 2015, shortly after the birth of her second child. Rachel’s faith carried her through the unimaginable. Her 7-week-old baby and toddler son were seized by Child Protective Services when her newborn sustained critical cranial injuries while in the care of a nanny. She was evicted from her own home and had to endure an arduous court case to prove her innocence. Rachel is now an author and public speaker. Her focus is to educate families while being a voice for those victimized by the unconstitutional clutches of Family Court and Child Protective Services. Through the pain of her experience, she came to the realization of her calling: to fearlessly proclaim the role of women in the family and the gift that comes with it. Cassie is the founder of On Purpose Consulting Group, a nonprofit designed to help people live their lives on purpose, for purpose, and with purpose. She is a nurse, wife, mother, and community activist. She focuses on holistic leadership strategy, coaching, content, and community. She is bi-vocational and has been serving her community for the past 16 years as an R.N. serving in different fields including seven years of oncology nursing, one year ER, and eight years of Home Care. I am pleased to welcome Janelle Renshaw to the podcast this week!  She is a daughter of the King.  Her heart belongs first to Jesus and second to her husband Craig of 3 years.  She refers to God as “Papa” after He took her from death to life after her husband of 27 years blindsided her and left.  She currently attends Bethel School of Supernatural Ministries with her husband Craig. As an author and seasoned public speaker Jane “Goldie” has had extensive experience speaking on a variety of topics which were born out of her own life story: “Rainbow in the Night: A Journey of Redemption.” Her book which was published in December 2019 and took 20 years to complete! She can speak to her own struggles with depression, physical and emotional abuse, hippie lifestyle in the early 1970’s, healing after abortion, marital challenges, loss of hopes and dreams, and a dramatic conversion experience as a Jewish woman coming to believe and accept Yeshua (Jesus) as her personal Lord and Savior in 1974. Vanessa Carlson's passion for health and fitness began in high school where she played basketball, and participated in dance, gymnastics, and track & field with the pole vault. At Temple University she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Physical Therapy. During her time at Temple University, Vanessa also became certified through AAAI and began teaching group exercise classes like Pilates, Spin, Core and More and Strength & Conditioning at various facilities, clubs, and gyms. Upon her completion of studies at Temple University and receiving her certification as a Licensed Massage Therapist, Vanessa became more immersed and experienced working with a very diverse clientele and population from all ages, levels, and backgrounds. After her experience working with many types of clients, she obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton in 2011. In 2013 she competed in Figure Bodybuilding and received additional education as a personal trainer through NASM. Jill Sullivan is a wife, mom, prison chaplain, and the founder / director of Gwen’s House. Gwen’s House is a 501(c)(3) faith based nonprofit organization established to help women transitioning back to Stark County after prison with housing, jobs, sober support and mentoring. She has a passion to help incarcerated women after finding herself incarcerated in 2001. Jill received Christ as her personal savior during this incarceration and witnessed radical life change by the application of God's Word and staying connected to her local church, Faith Family Church. She went to school to become a prison chaplain and worked for Ohio prisons for 3 years.  She then founded Gwen’s House and is the executive director.
