Deep Dark Secrets Podcast and True Crime Fest with LaDonna Humphrey
LaDonna Humphrey lives in Northwest Arkansas and is the host of the Deep Dark Secrets podcast. She is the co-founder of True Crime Fest NWA, which is in its first year and will take place in Rogers, Arkansas on May 20, 2023. ARKAST will be making a presentation at the event. She tells us what we can expect this year and her plans to grow the event in the future.
Humphrey has dedicated her life to helping victims of crime and has spent years working on the unsolved murder case of Melissa Whitt. She is releasing a documentary on the case at the festival.
Humphrey is also a private investigator and an author. Her passions include advocating for missing adults, children in foster care, and women in recovery. She is also the co-founder of All the Lost Girls, a group dedicated to finding justice for female strangulation cold cases in the United States.

Building Your Podcast with Karen Steward
Our first guest is Karen Tricot Steward, who owns a podcast production company called Power of Pod. She also worked at the NPR affiliate in Little Rock, KUAR, for a number of years as a reporter, anchor, and Content Development Director. She’s created civics education podcasts for the Arkansas Supreme Court. And, she has her own podcast, a true crime podcast called Burden.
I asked her to give us some tips on how to launch and market a podcast. When it was all said and done, she was so excited about the ARKAST podcast and interviewing Arkansas podcasters that she’s since jumped on as a co-host, starting in Episode 2.
