Apanayana Mudra Meditation
The Apanayana Mudra Meditation comes from Jospeh and Lilian Le Page's Mudras: For Healing and Transformation. This Mudra helps to direct breath, awareness and energy to the reproductive, urinary, and eliminatory systems to help reduce stress, instill a sense of balance and conservation of energy. It cultivates tranquility and stability of mind, alleviating worry and anxiety. It enables us to experience greater balance attuning us to our true nature-equanimity.

Point-to-Point Breathing
Today's episode is based on Rolf Sovik's book entitled Moving Inward: The Journey to Meditation. Point-to-Point Breathing creates balance in the Vayus, improves concentration and leaves the body totally refreshed.

Yoga Nidra is a deeply relaxing guided meditation that is practiced entirely while lying in savasana. The practice will take you on a progressive journey through your five layers of being (the five Koshas). This practice can be done any time of the day and is especially helpful at bedtime.

Le Page states, "As waves of relaxation flow through my being, I rest in complete serenity."

Chapter One: Breathing in a Quiet Place

Three Part Breathing
Three Part Breathing (Dirga Pranayama) is a Pranayama technique (breathing practice) in yoga. You first completely fill your lungs with air, as though you are breathing into your belly, ribcage, and upper chest. Then you exhale completely, reversing the flow. Three-Part Breathing is one of the most calming and grounding breathing practices you can do. It helps oxygenate your blood and nourish your entire body. Also more oxygen flows to the brain helping you focus.

Loving-Kindness Meditation
This episode is on Loving-Kindness. Loving-Kindness is also known as Metta in Sanskrit. Metta means benevolence, friendliness, and good-will. Ahimsa Reading
This episode is from Nicolai Bachman's The Path of the Yoga Sutras. The first limb of the Eight-Limb Path of Yoga as explained in the Sutras are the Yama-s (ethical observances). The Yama-s are further broken down into five categories, one of which is Ahimsa (nonviolence, compassion, non-harming).

Hot Air Ballon Meditation
I have had this short meditation in my "go to" teaching binder for years. Unfortunately, I do not remember its original source. It is a meditation on letting go of what no longer serves you. It seems like a simple task but, as we all know, letting go of limiting beliefs and ruminations is a difficult task.

Softening Pain Meditation
This episode is a meditation by Stephen Levine. Levine wrote several meditations on bringing awareness to pain, showing ourselves mercy and letting our bodies find peace. I have used this meditation with clients dealing with chronic pain such as arthritis and fibromyalgia. My hope is the meditation will also bring relief and comfort to others dealing with pain.

Soham Mantra Meditation
The Soham (pronounced "So Hum") Mantra is found in the Isha Upanishad. It literally translates to “I am that.” It is the natural vibration of the SELF. It helps you connect your SELF with the universe/ultimate reality. Thus, repeating the phrase helps to center you into a feeling of interconnectedness. According Swami Sivananda, "Meditation on Soham is same as meditation on OM. Soham is only OM. Delete the consonants S and H. You get OM."
This meditation was adapted and shortened from Yoga International's version.

Pala Mudra Meditation
Today's meditation comes from Mudras For Healing and Transformation by Joseph and Lilian Le Page. The Pala Mudra can be used to ease anxiety and stress. It instills a sense of trust and non-attachment. It is helpful for muscle tension, reducing blood pressure and aids a healthy digestive system. The Pala Mudra creates a calm relaxed space between all the thoughts running through your mind. Le Page states, "With greater tranquility, we are able to witness fearful thoughts and feelings rather than identifying with them so completely."
