Good Morning Basics! It’s another wonderful Saturday! This is part two from last week’s episode so if you didn’t listen to last week their may be a reference or two that you don’t quite catch but drink another mimosa and it will all make sense. Because it’s part two this is an evening coffee, caffeine fueled coffeecast. Chelsie has been on the hunt for the perfect Airbnb in Denver and we hear all about the cannabis-friendly houses; you have to listen to the description she reads from Chris the marijuana fairy. Travis is getting on board with some Gen Z trends and we learned Amy can stop watching the finale of You, Season 3 in the middle of the episode and go to bed. (broken.) Hey Basics! It's another table for two with Chelsie and Travis. Amy maybe has been fired permanently and we are announcing it here first. Okay, we're totally kidding but we miss her and demand her immediate return. We get very history oriented for a bit while Travis describes his favorite parts of 1500s English history while Chelsie is starting a brewery in a backyard and telling us all about her near death experience at the dentist. Things are going well.

In the Basic Brunchcast's first Not So Basic Brunchcast we have a guest with us today, Amanda. She and a group of mothers wrote an open letter to their black sons and Amanda is sharing that letter here with us. We discuss the topic of race, interracial relationships, navigating the daily fear surrounding the potential that your partner may not come home and much more. The Basic Brunchcast doesn't just believe in being "not racist". We believe the only way to not BE racist is to be anti-racist. We will continue to speak up and speak out and share, remembering it is not people of color's responsibility to fix racism, it is our responsibility to fix this. We hope that you will listen with an open mind and an open heart. We look forward to bringing more stories to you surrounding many diverse topics.

Lastly Basics, as you may know, it is still partial quarantine and while at times we may take some cute photos together we have still been recording outside. As a surprise to no one, 2020 is the year of the largest cicada emergence in 17 years. We removed their singing as much as we could but we apologize in advance for any forest ambiance you may hear in the background as we were among giant oak trees that are apparently the home to many a creature.
