02.09 Don't Let Hard Times Harden Your Hearts
📚Bible Study Notes on Proverbs 11:1, 24-26 and James 4:7
Hard times can harden our hearts. 🖤Everyone is suffering in business one way or another because of the COVID pandemic and the government's lacking response to help businesses. These conditions can make business owners not only cut costs but also cut corners to survive.
For any business owners reading this, have you been tempted to do this? Let me warn you that if you fall into the trap of cutting corners to stay alive, it will not be worth it in the end because you could end up losing trust and credibility with your clients and suppliers.
And when you do it once, here's what happens to your heart:
1. It becomes hardened because deep inside you will feel guilty for cutting corners at your customers' expense. And if no one calls you out on it, you'll think you've gotten away with it and your heart hardens just a little more.
2. Eventually, you will be a business person who may be successful financially, but deep down you are guilty of cheating others. The guilt you try to bury will eat away at your soul. And that is a sad predicament.
✨So don't let these hard economic times harden your heart.
I was encouraged by Proverbs 11 verse 1 and verses 24-26 the other day. I was reminded that while I am in this worldly economy, as a Christ-follower, I am also in God's economy. These ancient words of wisdom remind me that when I am generous even when it's hard to give, it can also be the most fulfilling I can do. When the act of giving costs you something, it is true sacrificial giving.
It's an act of trust and expression of faith - trusting that my God can provide for me when I give to others who really need it. I think that at the core, being grateful for more than the material things that we have allows us to be in a heart position to give either with grace or financial help to those who really need it. When we are reminded that there are a lot of people doing worse off than us, we cancel our own pity party and start to looking outward at ways we can practically help others.
I have my own personal testimonies of how God has come through when I give even when it's hard, not just when business is slow, but when suppliers or customers take advantage or outrightly cheat. Lots of lessons and experiences revealing my own heart through it all. It would have been very easy for me to harden my heart and be cynical over the years. Doing business is challenging in any season, but it's been a tough couple of years, hasn't it! It's been a long tough season, but I continue to see His goodness through it all.

02.08 Doing the Impossible with God: Crossing the Jordan at Flood Stage
📚Bible Study Notes on Joshua 3, Joshua 4 and Psalm 50
Crossing the Jordan at flood stage isn't just hard, but it's impossible. Impossible indeed for man but not for God. In Joshua 3, we see the miracle of God stopping the flood waters, so that the Israelites led by Joshua would be able to cross on dry land. In Joshua 4, we learn why God told the 12 representatives of the tribes to carry out large stones to make an altar for Him. I share two major lessons I've gleaned from these two chapters and close with encouragement from Psalm 50.
I've been blessed to still share my Bible study notes pretty regularly. With the kids at home, things get a little trickier. So, you will see a special appearance by my 8 year-old and husband in this video too!

02.07 Five Ways to Maintain a Clean Heart
📚Bible Study Notes on Leviticus 11 and Mark 7:1-23
Originally published on https://youtu.be/_9H9XaDnpfA
In Leviticus 11, God gives the Israelites a list of clean and unclean animals to preserve and protect the. In Mark 7:1-23, Jesus declares that all foods are clean. Is God contradicting Himself?
From my Bible study notes, I share how I learned that Jesus cares more about what comes out of a man than what goes in. It is the things that we consume through our eyes and minds that defiles our hearts, and consequently, from that unclean heart, we exude the aroma of the world more than the aroma of Christ. I share five ways to maintain a clean heart so that we can spread the aroma of Christ to the world and draw people to Him.

02.03 Good Friday: Jesus Paid My Sin Debt
Wanted to do something a little different today to share my reflection on Good Friday and how I am so grateful for Jesus Christ, my Redeemer. He paid for my sins, for all our sins on that cross.
Romans 5:6-10: "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!"

02.02 Let Your Good Work Flow From Your Worth in Christ
To live a life of purpose and fulfillment, it's so vital to know that your worth is not found in your work, but in who you are. You are valued and loved by God your Creator. Your good work overflows from experiencing how much you are loved by Him.
✨ Happy International Women’s Day! Ladies, may we continue to remind each other of our worth and of how much we are loved. I appreciate each and everyone of those whom I call sisters...those who bless my soul and encourage me by their lives. 🙏🏼💖 There are so many women who still don’t recognize or appreciate how precious and valuable they are and so make so many wrong choices believing they don’t deserve any better. 💖 Tell them the truth that they are precious, valued and loved.

In this episode of BCDC Essential Conversations, I had an enriching time talking with Dave Gilchrist, whom I regard as my big brother in Christ.
Dave expresses God’s heart for the lost by sharing the gospel in word and deed. The overarching theme of our conversation was edification and evangelism and what that looks like in everyday life. We also talk about the cost of discipleship as we move from former worldviews into new life in Christ. Be blessed by the insights that Dave shares.
Dave Gilchrist was born and educated in South Africa. He accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Saviour in 1992 and was involved in door to door ministry to muslims within the Johannesburg area from 2004 to 2011. He is married to Taryn and has two daughters Charis and Gabby. He has worked in different Marketing roles within the fast moving consumer goods sector from 1999 to 2015, which included a relocation to Bangkok within a South East Asia regional role from 2011 - 2015. /////// 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐞 5: Matthew Miller
When we truly encounter Jesus, our lives are transformed. My guest in this episode is Matt Miller.
As a young man, Matt had pursued the pleasures of the world to fill up the “God-sized” hole in his heart. When lovingly confronted with the question from a friend, “Do you have joy?”, he came face to face with the reality that his life was empty. Matt shares how his relationship with Jesus Christ transformed him radically. We also discuss how following Jesus closely can have its ups and downs and what we can do to keep pressing on in the journey.
Matt has served as Lead Pastor in the States for 8 years before moving to Bangkok. Matt Holds BA in New Testament Studies and MA in Church History. He’s been married to Bobbi Jo for almost 13 years and they have two kids, Lexi and Jude. He currently serves as the Teaching Pastor at Tairomprakhun Bangkok Church.
He loves spending time with family, the outdoors, and rocking out to a band called Phish.

Let Your Heart Break for Those Who Have Lost and are Lost

Deeply Rooted: Day 6
Here we are, the last day of our six-day devotional! We arrive at the concluding sentence of verse 8: "It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
This last verse promises that not only will our leaves be green but we will even bear fruit! It's a promise that we will never fail to bear fruit! That is God’s promise to us if we abide in Him.
Fruit in the time of drought would be nothing short of a miracle. When drought comes, trees will naturally concentrate all their resources to just stay alive and keep vital functions going. Fruit is produced produced in times of excess resources and abundant conditions.

Deeply Rooted: Day 5
We are now on Day 5 of our Deeply Rooted Devotional. Thank you for sticking through with this and I pray that it has been a truly Spiritually enriching experience as we camp out in these two verses!
"its leaves are always green.”
This part of verse 8 is a promise.
Receive it as so. Biology was one of my favorite classes in high school and I was really interested in the units on plants. While I've never had a green thumb, I really do appreciate learning about plant life! We study from a very young age that healthy plants have green leaves. Brown or discoloured leaves are a bad sign. Most of the time, it's a symptom of a plant not having enough water. They start wilting, turn less green, more yellow and if left long enough without remedy, they will dry up, turn brown and fall off. In one of our science classes, we had to take care of our own house plant and I remember that when we came back from a long weekend, we found that one of my friend's plant had drooped and wilted. She was quite distressed about it, but the teacher said, don't worry, it can still be saved. Just give it some water, and it will come back to life. And it sure did! Thankfully, she saved it just in time.
