Tash Pillay doesn't want parents to get left behind

Have Hope & Be Holy – a sermon from Mary Ackers
“A real message of hope, but also a strong message about how we can live our lives in times of uncertainty, to make sure that we’re not just going with the flow, but holding fast to God, and also living in a way that shines his glory in our lives.”
If you’ve been associated with Baptist youth events over the past few years, chances are you’ve bumped into Mary Ackers. Now the Youth Ministry Facilitator here at BCSA, Mary has worked with young people in churches and schools for several years, is a member of Salisbury Baptist Church and loves a parkrun and good coffee.
Next Wednesday we’ll be back with another guest, so make sure you’ve subscribed and stay tuned for more Movement!
VERSE IN FOCUS
1 Peter 1:13 – 2:3 (ESV)
13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. 20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you 21 who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, 23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; 24 for
“All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
and the flower falls,
25 but the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
2 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.

Pushing Boundaries - a sermon by Mike Bartlett
"The character David looms large in scripture; the shepherd King who came to be a conqueror, and was also a poetic prankster. David is presented to us as both a man after God’s own heart, and at times a slave to the most basic of human desires. The stories of his life and the psalms of his heart give us archetypes through which we can reflect on the state of our own hearts as we follow Him who descended from David’s house."
Mike Bartlett served as the lead pastor for the King’s Community in Golden Grove from 2012 through to June, when he took a new role here as the Ministry Accreditation Facilitator. Mike loves to read, surf, has a predilection for pop music played too loud, and loses his keys most days.

Fruitful Church - a sermon by Andrew Turner
If it’s all about size and health, then why did Jesus curse that big, healthy-looking fig tree? Could it be that we are aiming to shape churches that will impress everyone but him? What does a truly fruitful church look like?
Andrew Turner has been a pastor in our Baptist movement for almost 20 years! He’s also an author, a blogger, a husband, father of three, and a lover of German board games. He’s also a keen evangelist and works as our Church Development Facilitator, where he works with leadership teams to help grow and develop their churches.
Next Wednesday we’ll be back with another guest, so make sure you’ve subscribed and stay tuned for more Movement!

Trapped by Agenda - a sermon by Mike Mills
Last week Melinda sat down with Mike Mills (catch up here), who has worked faithfully as the State Executive Minister here at Baptist Churches SA for over ten years.
This week Mike has shared a sermon that he preached in June 2019 at Edwardstown Baptist – Mike’s home church. The passage Mike is preaching on is the parable of the rich young fool in Luke 12, but this sermon takes a different angle as rather than focusing on the parable itself, it focuses on the encounter the man had with Jesus as he came to Jesus and asked for a resolution of a dispute.
Next Wednesday we’ll be interviewing another guest, so make sure you’ve subscribed and stay tuned for more Movement!
