E45 - Own a piece of rainforest with one click | Fund the Planet
đïžÂ Own a piece of the rainforest with one click and help save the planet
In this podcast episode, I had the pleasure of talking with Kuan-Ning Tseng and Rene Hennen from Fund the Planet. I think they have created something very remarkable that deserves attention.
If you care about nature, the environment, and most likely our planet (not a climate scientist here), this episode and, frankly, the rainforest NFT is for you.
If I may explain in my words:Â FUND THE PLANETÂ has built a system where you can exchange your money for the ownership of a piece of the rainforest. All of that with one click. That is really remarkable and ignites my imagination.
No shady carbon credit companies that want to take advantage of the greenwashing trend. But a German company that already owns part of the Peruvian rainforest and has people at sight to protect it. By buying the rainforest NFT, you have an immediate, significant, and measurable impact on the environment and the future of the planet.
We talk about this and more in the podcast. Itâs a really interesting story worth being told and listened to. So please enjoy đ

NFT NYC: My thoughts on the Web3 week
I think the video will give you a good feel for the week and the "state of the industry." Here is a short overview:
- The industry has touched grass and reality
- No hype, no FOMO, less excitement, "just" building
- Great location for NFT NYC, the organization was very professional
- Good amount of people, but less than last year (this was expected)
- The side events are more than the glue holding the industry together. They are where the magic of Web3 is at
- Too many speakers (about 1.500) at the conference, too many talks on too many stages
- The lack of curation of speakers and talks by the conference team is a disservice to the attendees and takes from the experience (it is necessary to change that, in my opinion, and everyone I talked to)
- The impact of digital art on the art market is going to surprise many people
- Web3 gaming just might be happening soon and might be a great catalyst for Web3 adoption and further innovation
The ultimate winner of this week is the people of Web3. I have a limited set of references from other industries, but the passion, energy, skills, comradery, and smarts of the people of Web3 gives me a very positive outlook on the future.
As long as those people are building, Web3 is on a good path to contribute useful solutions to our digital future.
Thank you all for a wonderful week in New York. You are awesome đ€

Make the right things easy - Holiday Special | Bernhard Neumann Podcast
Are you making the right things easy? Find out why it matters đ
For almost a year, I had a quote from my friend Vinzent Ellissen in my ToDo-app. It said, âMake the right things easy.â Back then, I thought it was brilliant, but I forgot what he meant by it. So I asked him recently.
It means that you can design your life, your work, you name it, so that it is easy for you to make the right decisions and do the right things. Consequently, doing the wrong things becomes harder. In short, you set yourself up for success by design. The implications of this concept touch absolutely everything we do.
Here are some real-world examples:
đđ»ââïž Fitness - Place your packed gym bag in front of the entrance door. That makes it easier to go, and you create a reminder for your action on top of it
đ„Š Health - You keep healthy snacks like fruits and nuts at your desk while you simply donât have any candy around
đšâđ» Work - Create financial incentive structures (bonuses, variable rates, etc.) for employees in a way that makes it easy for them to make the right decisions in the interest of the company
đ± Sustainability - Societies can incentivize people to use sustainable transportation by making it more accessible and/or less expensive than other means of transportation (come on, Germany, make it happen with the Deutsch Bahn)
How are you using this concept? Feel free to share in the comments. Itâs easy đ and will bring value to the people that see it.

E38 - Key Principles of Entrepreneurship | Antoine Leboyer & Bernhard Neumann
đïž Episode 38: The Key Principles of Entrepreneurship with Antoine Leboyer
Web3 community, we need to hear and apply this to move from testing the boundaries of a new technology to creating products that solve problems and have a sustainable business model. Airdrops for your early adopters (aka DEGENS) will not get you to mass market success.
Working as the Managing Director, Venture Lab for Software and Artificial Intelligence at Technical University of Munich, Antoine sees new technologies emerging quite often. What stays the same is the need for good entrepreneurs to find a way to create products with new technologies that lead to sustainable businesses.
Hence, I think we can all learn about the key principles of entrepreneurship from Antoine. He is a founder himself but also sees hundreds of startups rising or falling. I think there is so much to learn from that.

There is a staggering number of brands entering web3. One of the very big ones is adidas. In this episode, we will explore how adidas is doing it, how it is going, and what we think of their efforts so far.
This is a longer conversation, and I think it brings a lot of value to people who want to dive deeper into the topic of web3 and brands.
My guest Dominik and I both have almost three hats on here. We come from the traditional branding/marketing world, but also both work with brands entering web3 now. In addition, we are NFT degens, meaning we are the customers of the brands as well đ
Thank you, Dominik, for being a great guest and sharing your knowledge đ

E29 - Deep Talk about NFTs | Florian Bruce-Boy & Bernhard Neumann
đïžđ„: Deep Talk with the NFT investor Florian Bruce-Boye
Florian and I could talk for hours about NFTs, and we actually do that đ So, for this podcast episode, I was hoping to capture his engaging way of talking about the topic with structured, sharp, and well-articulated thoughts.
Well, I put him on the spot, and he delivered. I really enjoyed the conversation, and in my eyes, it offers a lot of value for anyone interested in web3 and NFTs. Among other things, we touch on the following topics:
- An approach to NFT investing
- Cryptopunks and other gold standard NFTs
- The compelling use case of NFT ticketing
- Florian's investment thesis for his NFT fund

E28 - Meta introduces Digital Collectibles to Instagram | Bernhard Neumann
Meta introduces digital collectibles to Instagram: If you canât beat them, join them!
Another big tech NFT announcement. But I think this one is different. This one is really significant. Meta has 2.5 billion active users on their platforms, Facebook and Instagram. Those users can soon create Digital Collectibles (NFTs) just as easily as publishing a normal post. Also, there will be a marketplace to trade them. All in fiat money, blockchain technology runs in the background.
In this episode (video on Spotify, soon on YouTube), Iâll break down the announcement for you and what it might mean for creators but also social platforms.
Please enjoy the episode.

E27 - Reddit enters web3 right | Benjamin Latsko and Bernhard Neumann
đïžđ„Video-Podcast: Reddit enters web3 and nails it!
This is NOT another news piece about a web2 company entering web3. What Reddit has successfully done is a big deal, and it is of value for you to understand why. Benjamin Latsko and I will be breaking it down for you in this episode.
đ From platform to ecosystem
As Benjamin describes eloquently, Reddit is transitioning from being a platform to a web3 ecosystem. How? By using "blockchain-backed" collectible avatars and its own cryptocurrency. This is massive as the scale of Reddit is quite substantial (50 Mio. active daily users).

E26 - Let's tie physical items to NFTs | Bernhard Neumann
đïžđ„Video-Podcast: Let's try to tie physical items to NFTs
Attesting ownership and authenticity of physical items on the blockchain is an idea as old as the blockchain technology itself. The only problem with this elegant use case is that we haven't found out yet how to make it work.
đ Scan-to-Own
The NFT startup Azuki is trying to innovate toward a solution for linking physical items to their digital pendant. They haven't solved it yet, but I think they got everyone a whole lot closer to it. In this video episode, you will find out what exactly they have come up with and what use cases can come from their advancements.
â Assessment & Encouragement
A bunch of infrastructure still needs to be developed, but Scan-to-Own is an exciting step in my eyes. The way I see it, this is crazy big, and I encourage especially luxury brands but also everyone else to really look into this. You don't have to thank me later. It was my pleasure đ
Please enjoy the episode.

E24 - Brands entering web3 need to get this right | Bernhard Neumann
Podcast đ: Brands entering the web3/NFT space need to get this right
In this episode, I want to share one crucial success factor for brands entering the web3 and NFT space. You want to know this.
Have a business case
Many brands make the mistake of entering web3/NFTs as a test. I get why one would do that. The whole space is still one big experiment. Nevertheless, it is the wrong approach for brands. The correct approach is to think about it as a business case.Â
This is a shorter episode (around 7 minutes). So your perfect dose of web3/NFT knowledge on a Saturday. Please enjoy.Â

E23 - Are books as NFTs a good use case of the technology? | Bernhard Neumann
Podcast đ: Are books as NFTs a good use case of the technology?
In this episode, we examine a possibly compelling use case of NFTs: NFT books. We will follow a framework that attempts to measure if something is a good use case. So there is a little bit more structure to the evaluation.
đŒ Bringing digital assets to life?
Without giving away too much, I think NFT books can bring a lot of creativity and excitement to the publishing industry. Having a digital asset that can be owned (NFT) changes many dynamics around publishing and the communities forming around books and other publications.
Also, in this episode, Alex Canariov from Creatokia, a company that helps authors publish their work as NFTs, gives a short expert interview that I found very insightful. So lots to discover once more. I am looking forward to your feedback.
So, please enjoy.

E22 - Impressions and learnings from the w3.vision conference | Bernhard Neumann
Special web3 Podcast đ:Â Impressions and learnings from the w3.vision conference with two speakers
This was a fun one. As you can see in the picture, we recorded the podcast in the middle of the conference in a Mercedes G-Wagen. My guests were two experts in the web3 field who were also speakers at the conference.
đ Insights - State of our industry and where we are heading
I feel like the podcast captures a lot of the state of our web3/NFT industry at the moment. Benjamin M. Latsko ââš-âš and Can Florian Ahegger are great guests who nailed it on the head. Also, you get a good feeling about this great event.
So if you want to know where web3 stands today and where it is going, this podcast is for you.
Please enjoy.

E21 - Starbucks web3 loyalty program is not what you think | Bernhard Neumann
Podcast đ:Â Starbucks web3 loyalty program is not what you think
In this episode, I dive deeper into the economics of loyalty programs in general and then look closely at what Starbucks has announced about its web3 loyalty program plans.
â What are Starbucks strategic goals?
To be honest, it was quite a journey of thought. It took my friends in the web3 space and me from "of course, it's a great idea for Starbucks" to "copy-pasting loyalty programs from web2 to web3 makes hardly sense." However, Starbucks also knows that, and that's why there are other strategic aspects to their move into web3.
That's what I am unpacking in the episode. I hope you enjoy it. Also, for my regular listeners: this episode is in English. I want to play around with what language to use. Happy to hear your feedback.

E20 - Was muss passieren, damit NFTs Massenadaption erreichen? | Bernhard Neumann
Podcast đ: Was muss passieren, damit NFTs Massenadaption erreichen?

E14 - And the Grammy goes to algorithmische Komposition!? | Bernhard Neumann
Podcast đ: And the Grammy goes to algorithmische Komposition!?

Anwendungsfall NFT Tickets | Bernhard Neumann #E5
