This is a simple tip to overcome emotional eating for one of my listeners who shared the following:
I'm an emotional eater. When I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I turn to food for comfort. And once I start eating, I can't seem to stop. I'll stand in front of the fridge, stuffing my face with whatever I can find, until I'm so full I feel sick. And afterward, I always feel guilty and ashamed. Episode 90 - Binge Eating Recovery Personal Stories - Moira
Moira struggled with emotional binges from the age of 16, she would reach for pizza and ice cream when she felt stressed or nervous.
She joined my food freedom program because she was fed up with where she was with her relationship with food and her emotional binge episodes flared up her fibromyalgia.
Within four weeks of working with me, Moira was able to leave food on her plate and her energy levels were going up. She found herself naturally drawn to fruits and vegetables and she has not had a fibromyalgia flare-up since. Binge eating is mostly accompanied by guilt and shame.
Mindful eating requires you to simply acknowledge and accept rather than judge the feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations you observe.
It can extend to the process of buying, preparing, and serving your food as well as consuming it.

Episode 53 - Stop binge eating with my food neutrality meditation
Food is not good or bad. There is no moral value attached to food. When we label foods with positive or negative terms, we often transfer that label to ourselves. We say things like ‘I have been good today, I had a salad for lunch or ‘I have been bad, I had a doughnut today. But does eating a particular food really make you good or bad? This meditation will help you find a neutral outlook on food.

Episode 52 - Binge eating recovery and self-love
I felt so ashamed when I looked in the mirror!!
"I'm a failure because I can't Stop Eating" I remember saying to myself over and over again, I would even make a joke about it to my friends, "here I go, eating my feelings, again"
That kind of self-talk started spilling into other areas of my life, I felt unworthy to ask for promotions, I would stay in jobs where I was expecting to work ridiculous hours with no overtime payment, I stayed because I felt I wasn't worthy of finding something better.
The old me didn't believe in fluffy things like self-love? "Who needs self-love, what a crock of shit?" I would say. Deep down I resisted self-love because I felt I wasn't worthy of love, especially being loved by myself.
Self-love is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
Not sure how to even begin? Here are some of the steps I took to mend my relationship with myself through small acts of self-love.
