#86 Five Things I Do to Deal with the Binge Eating Urges
In this Binge on Self-Love podcast episode, Anci shares her five personal tips on how to deal with binge eating urges. Recovery from a binge eating disorder is not always a linear process but remember that life has so much more to offer than an eating disorder ever will.
The tips that Anci shares in this episode are:
Asking yourself if you are eating enough Experimenting with food a little in terms of trying new recipes, making sure to eat a variety of food, etc. Reminding yourself that the urges are temporary and they'll pass What's been going on in your life lately? #75 How to Feel "Normal" Again Around Food
We're being told, taught, and we have learned ourselves to feel a lot of different ways when it comes to food. #73 When Food Becomes a Problem: How to Tell You Might Be Having an Eating Disorder
How do you tell that food has become more than just food to you? How do you tell that having a meal without any significant feelings or negative thoughts preceding or following having that meal is no longer possible? How do you tell that maybe you're using food as a coping mechanism, as a means of control, or as a punishment? Or, simply, how do you tell that your relationship with food is hurting you rather than serving you? In today's episode, Anci shares her thoughts on how to tell when food has become a problem.

#70 Why Self-Love Shouldn't Be Conditional
In today's episode, Anci shares her thoughts on why self-love should be rather unconditional. Why is it that it's easy to love others with all their imperfections, but we treat ourselves and our relationship towards ourselves with "I will love myself if..." and "I will accept myself when..."?

#69 How to Support Someone Struggling with an Eating Disorder
Today's episode is dedicated to loved ones, family members and to friends of those who suffer from an eating disorder and to those who would love to lend a helping hand to someone struggling with an eating disorder, disordered eating, or negative body image, but you don't know what to do.
Witnessing your loved one going through a tough time is never easy. It can make you feel hopeless - you want to help, but you're afraid to say or do anything because you don't want to make the entire situation even worse.
In this episode, Anci outlines a few things that someone close to a person struggling can do to show support to someone struggling with an eating disorder or disordered eating.

#68 Self-Sabotage: Binge Eating, Procrastination, and More
Self-sabotage can take on many different forms. For some, like Anci, the host of the Binge on Self-Love podcast, it's been binge eating and procrastination. In today's episode, Anci talks about her experience with self-sabotage, why we sabotage our own efforts, and why we often become our worst enemy rather than our biggest cheerleader.

#67 Body Image & Weight Fluctuation, Stretch Marks, and Cellulite
Our bodies change and will keep changing as we age and step into different phases of our lives. That's a normal part of being a human being.
As women, we are being taught to worry about having cellulite, stretch marks, wrinkles and our weight fluctuating through the month.
The diet industry, the cosmetic brands, and the media tell us to fight our "imperfection" by using their products and services.
But are they really imperfection? If our skin would stay the same, we couldn't grow into the person we are right now. If our bodies weren't able to adapt, we wouldn't be able to make it through some of the most challenging periods of our lives.
In today's episode, Anci talks about stretch marks, cellulite, and weight fluctuation as something that so many of us feel insecure about, even though it's just a normal part of being a human.

#65 Finding Balance in Food, Exercise, and Self-Love
Life is about finding a balance in everything we do - in working, eating, moving our bodies, spending time with our loved ones and with ourselves, in creating and consuming, etc. Therefore it's to no surprise that finding a balance can be…well, complicated sometimes.
We want to treat our bodies the right way, we want to be active, but also take enough time to rest, we want to look good and feel good, we want to eat nutritious food, but we also want to stay sane and enjoy eating whatever we're craving. How do we find the balance between trying to juggle everything, between trying to be perfect and not trying at all; how do we find the balance between being obsessed with health and being healthy and living our life?
Listen to today's episode where Anci talks about finding balance in food, exercise, and self-love.

#64 The Dangers of Celebrating Weight Loss & Sharing Before and After Photos
I've recently come across a comment in a fitness community on Facebook - it was a comment of this girl who shared her feelings that seeing before and after photos of people on the internet makes her anxious and has a negative impact on her. She said something that resonated with me and what I believe will resonate with many of you - that when people share the before and after photos of themselves, it's usually perceived like the "before" version was unhappy, "fat", and ugly, whereas the new, lean, thin and toned version is pretty, happy, and most importantly, celebrated by others.
Logically, that makes it seem like the "before" version wasn't good enough because of their weight and appearance. The emphasis on the weight and the appearance, yet again, makes it seem like we can only be happy and loved and feel beautiful if our scale shows a lower number than it did a day before.

The Binge on Self-Love podcast is about eating disorder recovery, accepting and loving yourself and about loving your body just the way it is.
And therefore, in this episode, Anci takes some time and talks about the recent campaign that has spared so much controversy that it actually got banned in the United Kingdom. The campaign promotes their new sports bras, using photos of bare breasts of different shapes and sizes of 25 women.

#59 Acceptance Is a Part of Growth
In today's episode, Anci shares her recent feelings and realizes that in order to build confidence and create our values, we need to accept ourselves with everything that comes with it. We can spend our life hating ourselves for the way we look, the way we act, and the decisions we've made, or we can accept that as part of our past that does shape us in some way, but doesn't define our future.

#58 Bikini Body: Why You Don't Need to Get Ready for Summer
The summer season is slowly but surely getting close, and once again, it's the time of the year when all over social media, the internet, television, magazines, etc., you get to see ads and content dedicated to getting shredded for summer. When you google "get summer body", you'll get over 6 billion results on how to get in shape for summer, how to get summer body ready in just a couple of weeks, how to get a beach body fast, and so on.
I think that the whole idea of changing your body for the summer is insane, twisted, and unhealthy for anyone's confidence and body image, let alone for people struggling with any form of an eating disorder.
In this episode, Anci talks about why the "summer body ready" is bullshit, and it's just pure marketing, and why we don't need to get summer body ready.

#57 Social Media, Influencers and Body Image
Social media gives us a voice and a platform to share our stories and our battles. It's often encouraging and inspiring seeing people who go through something similar, and if anything, it makes us feel a bit less alone in whatever we're dealing with.
But at the same time, social media can become a toxic place for our self-esteem, our perception of what being successful means, our body image, and our eating habits.
In real life, we usually compare with people we personally know, with people that are in the same age group or in our social circle, whereas on social media, we can compare with literally anybody - a stranger from the other side of the world with a completely different background, experience, values, life goals, etc.
And what we've been comparing ourselves to in the past few years especially are edited and photoshopped bodies and faces of strangers, models, celebrities, and influencers

#55 Asking for Help Is Not a Sign of Weakness
When struggling with our mental health, we often hesitate to ask for help. Maybe it's because we feel ashamed, we're afraid we will come across as weak or that people won't understand. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, if anything, it's a sign of bravery, courage, and the desire to change something for the better.

#53 Feeling Like You're Behind in Recovery and Life
We live in a time period where everybody loves to share their lives. We mostly share our successes, significant milestones such as graduation, wedding, starting a family, buying a house, travelling, simply all the good things in life. But we're not always so willing to share the not-so-happy part of our lives, the daily struggles we tackle, the day-to-day reality, the time period when we don't really feel that super happy about everything. So if we only share the positive things happening in our lives, it's really easy for other people who see your content online to assume that you're just really happy all the time and that you're truly living your best life. When we're sharing just the bright side of everything, it can become very easy for other people to start comparing themselves to you, to doubt themselves, and to question whether there's something wrong with them if they're not that happy all the time, or seemingly that successful, or that strong all the time as someone they see online.
And as it often comes with comparison, we first start to question our abilities and where we're heading in life, and what we've accomplished so far, and after some time, we end up feeling so demotivated, believing we're just so behind in our life and everything.

#52 It's Time To Let Go Of Who You Were

With eating disorders and disordered body image, it's often difficult to let go of that person as it was part of our identity for a long time. In today's episode, Anci talks about why it's important to let go of who we once were in order to become who we're meant to be.

#48 It's Time To Let Go of the Idea of Ideal Body
I've had a tough time accepting myself for the past ten years, especially my body, size, shape, and weight. It's been only in the past couple of years that I started working on my body image, trying to accept myself just the way I am, with no "I'll be happy when I lose this amount of weight" or "I'll feel prettier when I look like that model on the internet."
But even though I've come a long way, even though I've improved my eating habits and the relationship I have with food and exercise, from time to time, the thought of having the "ideal body" comes to my mind. It got me thinking: Why am I still holding onto that idea? Will I ever let go of it? And aren't so many other people struggling with self-acceptance, maybe feeling the same?

#47 Consequences of Binge Eating Disorder
When speaking of the consequences and side effects of an eating disorder, most of us probably think of weight. On the one hand, it is understandable that weight, worries about weight, and body image are tightly connected to an eating disorder.
But at the same time, an eating disorder affects so many other aspects of our lives, health, relationships, and confidence, to mention a few.
In today's episode of the Binge on Self-Love podcast, Anci shares a few of the consequences of her struggle with binge eating disorder that she's been dealing with.

#46 Why You Don't Have to Have It All Figured Out to Start
With the onset of a new year, many of us tend to ruminate on things we have or have not achieved, on what we've experienced, about people we have met, places we have visited. It's the time of the year when we set new goals and resolutions.
But we often believe that in order to change or start something new, we need to have everything perfectly planned out. And when we don't have everything figured out, we don't try at all. In today's episode, I share my thoughts on why I think that usually starting somewhere and somehow is better than waiting for the perfect opportunity.

Doing something day to day may not bring many results, but after a longer period of time, it is what makes the actual difference. And all though your action may not make much difference on a day to day basis, in the larger scheme of things, they are immensely powerful. 39 Why You Should Never Comment on Someone's Body
"Have you lost weight? You look much healthier now; you were just too skinny before." These are just some of the comments that you might have heard or maybe even experienced yourself.
For whatever reason, so many people think they're entitled to comment on other people's weight, body, and appearance. But what they don't realize is how much of a negative impact their comments can have on that person self-esteem and body image.
In this episode, Anci shares her TOP five reasons why you should never (ever) comment on someone's body.

37 Procrastination vs Laziness: Are We Procrastinating or Just Being Lazy?
When it comes to putting things off, how to tell if you have issues with procreation or if you're just "being lazy"? We often tend to interchange both terms as if they're equal. And when you think about it, it's not even that surprising. Procrastination is about wanting to do something but not bringing yourself to do it for various reasons. So we, and other people as well, tend to say to ourselves, "Oh, you're just lazy."
In today's episode, Anci talks about the main differences between procrastination and laziness, why do people often confuse both terms and she shares a few personal tips on how to beat procrastination (at least sometimes).

36 Eating Disorder Recovery: Bloating, Imperfections, and Relationships
Eating disorders and recovery are not just about weight. There is so much more that comes with being healthy, happy, and in peace with your body. Recovery is so worth it, no doubts, but it comes with things no one prepares us for. Self-doubts, body image struggles, bloating, or comparison often comes during the recovery. So it's not surprising that recovering from an eating disorder (ED) can often feel overwhelming.
In today's episode, Anci shares her thoughts on recovery, dealing with bloating, insecurities, comparison, and how eating disorder affected her relationship.

35 Productive Procrastination
Have you ever heard of productive procrastination? I haven't until a few months back. I've been a passive procrastinator for most of my life - indulging in YouTube, TV series, and shopping sprees instead of studying, writing essays and working on my side hustle project. I've recently noticed I'm actually working on something; it just happened not to be the most important task that needed to be done. Productive procrastination means you do what needs to be done; it's just usually not something that's that important - such as organizing your folder, cleaning your workspace, going through emails for the fifth time.
Productive procrastination can happen to any of us - when studying, working, or working on our dreams.
In today's episode, I cover productive procrastination from my perspective, and I share my five tips with you, which have been helping me tackle procrastination habits.

34 How I Developed Two Eating Disorders
How does an eating disorder develop? An eating disorder often starts innocently - as a goal to lose just a couple of pounds, a desire to try a new diet, or get ready for the holiday season. The way eating disorders develop is slow and gradual, making the signs of an eating disorder hard to spot early on. Very often, there is a unique combination of multiple factors that have led us to develop an eating disorder. In today's episode, I share another part of my story and a few things that I believe contributed directly or indirectly to developing anorexia nervosa and binge eating disorder.

33 Seven Things to DO and NOT DO After a Binge
Binging sucks. But the worst part comes right after the binge - feelings of shame, disgust, and anger. To "make up" for that binge, we're often quick to jump to the idea of restricting, overexercising, and dieting. But crazy diets and restrictive eating only lead to more binging.
In this episode, I share with you my 7 TIPS on what to do after the binge and what not to do. There's no point in hating yourself, as binging is part of the eating disorder and part of the recovery process. Recovery doesn't happen overnight, but it's every little step you take that count.

32 Will I Ever Learn to Love My Body?
Eating disorder recovery is a gradual process. There will come days when we will feel proud about how far we've come and we'll celebrate our small victories. But there will also come days when our self-esteem drops when we have one of those days when we feel really uncomfortable in our own skin, and when we start to doubt the way we and our body look. And that may leave us questioning: Will I ever learn to love my body? Will I ever feel comfortable in my skin?
In today's episode of the Binge on Self-Love podcast, I share my recent experience with doubting and questioning the way I look and I'll share five tips that help me navigating negative emotions towards my body.

Body shaming is an issue that's we as a society need to face and address. 18 5 Things Binge Eating Disorder Taught Me
Binge eating has been part of my life for almost 6 years. During those years, I've learned a lot about myself. But the most important experience I've learned is that we are more powerful than we think and more powerful than our eating disorder makes us believe. In today's episode, I share 5 things that binge eating disorder taught me - from realizing that food is not your enemy, that diets are not the solution but the problem, and how important it is to share your problems with those around you. 17 Self-Pity Attitude and Taking Responsibility
Welcome to my pity party! My name is Anna, but you can call me Anci. In today's Binge on Self-Love episode, I'm going to get personal and share my recent discovery about myself - I've been self-sabotaging my life and my efforts due to the self-pity attitude.
We all need a little pity-me moment, but when you start blaming everything and everyone for your unhappiness, self-pity might be the problem.
In this episode, I share my thoughts on why self-pity is unhealthy and detrimental to us and suggest a few tips for breaking free from the self-pity attitude.

16 The Good Food vs. Bad Food Approach
What food do you associate with the word “healthy” or “good”? And what food, on the other hand, do you associate with the word “unhealthy” or “bad”? Chances are that you answered something like salad or broccoli, or avocado to the first question. And for the latter, I guess you said something like pizza, or ice cream, and fries, and chocolate; simply food that most of us enjoy, but feel guilty about eating.
For almost 8 years, I considered food to be my worst enemy. Through anorexia and binge eating disorder, I created a list of food "safe to eat" and food that I needed to avoid at all costs. But it never was that easy. With my "good food vs bad food" mindset, I became terrified by food, I believed eating "bad food" made me bad.
In today's episode, I share my experience with the "good vs bad food" mindset and my thoughts on why such a mindset is detrimental to our mental health, as well as few tips that could possibly help you to stop seeing food black and white.

15 New Year, New Me?! Why Consistency Is the Key
Have you ever wondered why you can't seem to make your goals and New Year's resolutions really stick and why you've never really seen the results you hoped for? I have too. And I think I've found the answer - CONSISTENCY. Being consistent with your actions seem trivial, yet it is usually the thing we all struggle with the most. I'm not a fan of New Year's resolutions, but no matter what goals you set (and when), consistency is what will help you turn your plans into reality.
I've never really been consistent with my actions, so I've decided to change that - not just for 2021, but hopefully, for a lifetime. In today's episode, I'll share my thoughts on why I believe consistency is the key to (any) results, why we find ourselves struggling with being consistent, and I'll share a few tips that I believe can help you (and me as well) to become more consistent.
So what you're waiting for? Enjoy the listening!

11 Comparison Is a Thief of Everything
“No one is you, and that’s your superpower.” Every single day, we compare ourselves to other people. We compare everything – our appearance, lives, education, career, success, popularity, wealth, with people we know, as well as people we never met before. According to recent studies, comparison on social media can contribute to lower self-esteem, envy, loneliness, and feeling anxious and depressed. In today’s episode, Anci covers why the comparison is a thief of literally anything, and she shares her TOP six tips on how to break the self-comparison mindset.

10 Procrastination, Recovery, and Fear: Waiting for the Right Moment
One thing that people do is that we tend to wait for the right moment. We postpone our plans when the timing is better. We delay changing something – our work, home, maybe even partners, for some uncertain time in the future, when the circumstances will be better. We postpone our dreams for tomorrow, for that "one day" when we will finally feel ready. But do you know what happens with that "one day"? It turns to never. In today's episode, we will cover some of the common things that hold us back when it comes to action. We'll talk about how seemingly helpful things, such as planning and creating to-do lists, give us the false sense we're already doing something, whereas, in reality, we're just waiting for things to happen to us rather than making them happen.

In today’s episode, Anci, the host of this podcast, will share her experience with seeking validation in all the wrong places and provide a few tips to find this validation within yourself.

05 Eating Disorder Misconceptions Part I.
Eating disorders are accompanied by myths and misconceptions. Among the most common myths are that only people with certain bodyweight have eating disorders, that only girls suffer from an eating disorder, or that binge eating is not a “real” eating disorder. In today’s episode, we will cover some of the most common misconceptions and discuss some ways to break the stigma surrounding eating disorders.

04 Procrastination: Fears, Self-Sabotage, and My Story
Procrastination, to a certain extent, is completely normal. Everyone procrastinates sometimes, including the most productive people. Procrastination is even more common during specific periods in lives and during certain situations – for instance, when we're supposed to study, when we're supposed to do some prep for work, but also when it comes to our personal goals, such as recovery. Sadly, not many people talk about it publicly. In today's episode, we'll cover what procrastination is and what are some of the most common reasons why we procrastinate.

03 Perfectionism and Eating Disorders
Why do we have such tendencies to be perfect, and to be completely honest, who doesn't want to be perfect? We may strive for perfection because we believe that people will finally accept us, love us, and respect us once we're perfect. As someone dealing with an eating disorder, I wanted everything to be perfect - my body, appearance, grades, and subsequent eating disorder recovery. In this episode, I will share my experience as a perfectionist and binge eater in recovery, how I reached a breaking point as a university student, and some of the crazy things I've done to be "perfect."
