Binge on Self-Love

Binge on Self-Love

By Anci

Binge on Self-Love podcast is about navigating binge eating disorder struggles, disordered eating, and negative body image. Although Anci shares her years-long experience with negative body image, eating disorders and uncovers bits of her personal story, this podcast is not about her, but about YOU - beautiful human beings who struggle, fight, grow and evolve, every single day. Together, we can turn something so negative - binge eating - into something more positive and hopefully go from binging on food to binging on self-love. Tune in every Tuesday for a new episode.

#69 How to Support Someone Struggling with an Eating Disorder

Today's episode is dedicated to loved ones, family members and to friends of those who suffer from an eating disorder and to those who would love to lend a helping hand to someone struggling with an eating disorder, disordered eating, or negative body image, but you don't know what to do.

Witnessing your loved one going through a tough time is never easy. It can make you feel hopeless - you want to help, but you're afraid to say or do anything because you don't want to make the entire situation even worse.

In this episode, Anci outlines a few things that someone close to a person struggling can do to show support to someone struggling with an eating disorder or disordered eating.

#53 Feeling Like You're Behind in Recovery and Life

We live in a time period where everybody loves to share their lives. We mostly share our successes, significant milestones such as graduation, wedding, starting a family, buying a house, travelling, simply all the good things in life. But we're not always so willing to share the not-so-happy part of our lives, the daily struggles we tackle, the day-to-day reality, the time period when we don't really feel that super happy about everything. So if we only share the positive things happening in our lives, it's really easy for other people who see your content online to assume that you're just really happy all the time and that you're truly living your best life. When we're sharing just the bright side of everything, it can become very easy for other people to start comparing themselves to you, to doubt themselves, and to question whether there's something wrong with them if they're not that happy all the time, or seemingly that successful, or that strong all the time as someone they see online.

And as it often comes with comparison, we first start to question our abilities and where we're heading in life, and what we've accomplished so far, and after some time, we end up feeling so demotivated, believing we're just so behind in our life and everything.

37 Procrastination vs Laziness: Are We Procrastinating or Just Being Lazy?

When it comes to putting things off, how to tell if you have issues with procreation or if you're just "being lazy"? We often tend to interchange both terms as if they're equal. And when you think about it, it's not even that surprising. Procrastination is about wanting to do something but not bringing yourself to do it for various reasons. So we, and other people as well, tend to say to ourselves, "Oh, you're just lazy."

In today's episode, Anci talks about the main differences between procrastination and laziness, why do people often confuse both terms and she shares a few personal tips on how to beat procrastination (at least sometimes).

16 The Good Food vs. Bad Food Approach

16 The Good Food vs. Bad Food Approach

What food do you associate with the word “healthy” or “good”? And what food, on the other hand, do you associate with the word “unhealthy” or “bad”? Chances are that you answered something like salad or broccoli, or avocado to the first question. And for the latter, I guess you said something like pizza, or ice cream, and fries, and chocolate; simply food that most of us enjoy, but feel guilty about eating.

For almost 8 years, I considered food to be my worst enemy. Through anorexia and binge eating disorder, I created a list of food "safe to eat" and food that I needed to avoid at all costs. But it never was that easy. With my "good food vs bad food" mindset, I became terrified by food, I believed eating "bad food" made me bad.

In today's episode, I share my experience with the "good vs bad food" mindset and my thoughts on why such a mindset is detrimental to our mental health, as well as few tips that could possibly help you to stop seeing food black and white.

Bonus Episode: Why New Year's Resolutions Are Bullsh*t and What to Do Instead

How many New Year's resolutions have you set in January 2020? How many of them have you actually achieved? Although different studies show that more than 80% of New Year's resolutions fail, we still keep setting them, hoping that this year, things will be different. But usually, they're not. And as the end of the year approaches, we feel often end up feeling like a failure, ruminating over and over why we failed, yet another year in a row. I was no exception. In today's episode, I'm going to share my point of view on why I think New Year's Resolutions are bullsh*t, why we keep failing at them, and what we can do to set goals that we can actually achieve. Let's get into the episode.

13 Recovery and Body Image

What do you think when you look at yourself in the mirror? Having a negative body image isn’t something that only people with an eating disorder struggle with – many of us feel self-conscious and focus anxious about our appearance. In today’s episode, we’re going to talk about what affects our body image, why is it important to have a positive one, and whether there is something we can do to develop more positive body image.

11 Comparison Is a Thief of Everything

11 Comparison Is a Thief of Everything

“No one is you, and that’s your superpower.” Every single day, we compare ourselves to other people. We compare everything – our appearance, lives, education, career, success, popularity, wealth, with people we know, as well as people we never met before. According to recent studies, comparison on social media can contribute to lower self-esteem, envy, loneliness, and feeling anxious and depressed. In today’s episode, Anci covers why the comparison is a thief of literally anything, and she shares her TOP six tips on how to break the self-comparison mindset.

05 Eating Disorder Misconceptions Part I.

Eating disorders are accompanied by myths and misconceptions. Among the most common myths are that only people with certain bodyweight have eating disorders, that only girls suffer from an eating disorder, or that binge eating is not a “real” eating disorder. In today’s episode, we will cover some of the most common misconceptions and discuss some ways to break the stigma surrounding eating disorders.

04 Procrastination: Fears, Self-Sabotage, and My Story

Procrastination, to a certain extent, is completely normal. Everyone procrastinates sometimes, including the most productive people. Procrastination is even more common during specific periods in lives and during certain situations – for instance, when we're supposed to study, when we're supposed to do some prep for work, but also when it comes to our personal goals, such as recovery. Sadly, not many people talk about it publicly. In today's episode, we'll cover what procrastination is and what are some of the most common reasons why we procrastinate.
