ABOUT FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM // APPALACHIAN INVESTORS ALLIANCE

ABOUT FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM // APPALACHIAN INVESTORS ALLIANCE

Hi, I'm Steve Mercil. I'm here in upstate New York as I'm biking to the area, getting to Portland, Maine, because I've been biking across the country to raise money for a fellowship program. What's that tell us a program about the fellowship, we'll provide a $10,000 stipend for you to work part time with our organization, to get in the room for the non Hollywood version of Shark Tank, and interact with our investment groups, and entrepreneurs to learn about this business of investing. I've been involved in economic development for over 40 years, I've spent a career helping entrepreneurs get capital from the business, so putting investors and entrepreneurs together. So this is a way for me to give back to others, to learn what I learned. It's an apprenticeship business. It's hard to learn this in a book. So we're going to give you a chance to get in the room and be a practice and learn about this industry, how it works so that you can be successful in your endeavors of the future. I want to stress that this is for young people, you don't necessarily have to be going to call it but it could be a young person working in a career want to make a career change. My ideal candidate was maybe someone who has less experience and maybe less connections than others, but shows a real commitment to learning and being coached and a desire to make a difference in the world, not just for themselves but for others.  The fellowship program reminds me of a geographical location I visited on the bike trip. Lake Itasca, Lake Itasca is the headwaters of the Mississippi River. The amazing thing of it is, it's literally a stream that's probably not much wider than my living room. And you can see when you're there, you can see from the film that the the pores on the rocks and, and it's very tiny. And then that, that that mighty river becomes bigger and bigger and bigger, and you get down to Redway, Minnesota, Lake Pepin, and it's the largest natural lake on the Mississippi. It's just beautiful scenery. It's the same for the fellowship program. You start out small and you grow and you have a big impact on other people. If you're interested in this fellowship program, the Appalachian industrial Alliance website we'll be posting applications in January of 2022.  LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM: https://bizinmotion.org/ SIGN UP AS A FELLOWSHIP CANDIDATE: LINK COMING SOON!  APPALACHIAN INVESTORS ALLIANCE: https://appalachianinvestors.org/ CONNECT WITH BIZINMOTION: ✅ Website: https://bizinmotion.org/✅ Facebook: facebook.com/bizinmotion ✅ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bizinmotion✅ Podcast: https://anchor.fm/bizinmotion✅ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7mIIH8if4nXTX2GHZ3KmlM -----  🎥 CHARLES EDMUND ADAMS | Film Director • Cinematographer • Aerial Cinematographer VIMEO: vimeo.com/user99636616 IG: www.instagram.com/charlesedmundadams/ LINKEDIN: www.linkedin.com/in/charlesedmundadams/

REFLECTIONS: BIZINMOTION FINALE // FELLOWSHIP LAUNCH

REFLECTIONS: BIZINMOTION FINALE // FELLOWSHIP LAUNCH

This film is the gathering of the weekly recap films created throughout Steve Mercil's trans-America bike ride. On September 6th, 2021 Steve began the ride of 3,702 miles. #bizinmotion •••  I'm Steve Mercil and I'm biking 3700 miles across America, really as a celebration of entrepreneurship and communities. The Fellowship program is about allowing young people to get in the rooms with investors and entrepreneurs. To learn how that whole system of raising money and growing a company actually occurs. It's sort of like the non Hollywood version of Shark Tank. Why the bicycling, I'm a bicycle enthusiast, I've often bicycle than done tours. And I thought I could combine two passions into one. And I think the bicycle trip is kind of like starting a company, you got to plan your route, you got to plan your business, you got to try to fund it, you got to carry it out and execute it, you're gonna have good days and bad days. In biking. It's good bike filling days and rainy days and hard days. And sometimes you don't get what done what you want, and you got to be flexible. But you have a goal at the end. Some people ask me, Why am I starting this bike right at Cape this appointment. And there's a couple reasons for it. Because that's where Lewis and Clark ended their Odyssey and overwintered there. And it was actually very tough. It's another metaphor for entrepreneurship, pioneering spirit, using advisors being open, being flexible, finding your way, they started this two and a half year long, pioneering trip without really knowing how they were going to get there. And they had to find the resources along the way, almost starved to death more than once. And if it wasn't for Sacagawea, they would have never made it. It's again, often when you're starting a company, you need that advisor to help you find your way and give you insights and she was that person.  ABOUT THE RIDE: Imagine having the ability to fund a fellowship to teach tomorrow’s community leaders about entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership with the click of a button. WEEK VIII & IX RECAP

WEEK VIII & IX RECAP

Weeks 8 through 9 marked the start of the final phase of the trip. I could see the seasons starting to take a turn into winter. In fact, we were forced to leave Lake Geneva a day earlier than plan to beat some bad weather on the ferry right. What we experienced over the next two weeks, were days of cold and rain. This time was made all the harder from a head cold I got in Michigan, and stayed with me through Ohio. I went back and forth from free riding 100% on the bike to being outright sick, lacking any kind of energy the bike. Still, with this being the case, I kept the schedule and kept pushing. There were days I just didn't even want to get up. I knew when I plan this whole trip, the warm days in Montana and sunshine in North Dakota, we're going to get behind us. And in the second phase, especially once we've got toward Pennsylvania, we were going to get into some cold and ugly weather. And in fact, in Pennsylvania, we got our first glimpse of snow. A lot of people were concerned when I told them about the trip, and then that wouldn't end until November in the far north of the country and Portland, Maine. And these days are cold and wind and rain prove true to that worry. So even through the cold and rain I kept resilient and I pushed through so I could make it to the coast.  Subscribe to get updates along Steve's journey, learn about the world of long-distance biking and exclusive interviews with entrepreneurial guests! 🚵  ✅ Website: https://bizinmotion.org/✅ Facebook: facebook.com/bizinmotion ✅ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bizinmotion✅ Podcast: https://anchor.fm/bizinmotion✅ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7mIIH8if4nXTX2GHZ3KmlM -----  🎥 CHARLES EDMUND ADAMS | Film Director • Cinematographer • Aerial Cinematographer  VIMEO: vimeo.com/user99636616 IG: www.instagram.com/charlesedmundadams/ LINKEDIN: www.linkedin.com/in/charlesedmundadams/

Wheatfield Gardens | Niagara, NY // ENTREPRENUER SPOTLIGHT

ABOUT WHEATFIELD GARDENS: At Wheatfield Gardens, we are leading the way to meet the rising consumer demand for locally grown, locally consumed, pesticide-free, fresh produce. To learn more about our sustainably grown butterhead lettuce, we invite you to get in touch today:  WEBSITE: http://wheatfieldgardens.com/FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wheatfield%20Gardens/357416631256714/INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/wheatfield_gardens/ TRANSCRIPT: When we made it to Buffalo, we had the opportunity. This is a company that I've been working with a group of investors in southwest New York about investing in called Wheatfield gardens. They're unique in that they have a highly original and innovative technology which allows them to use waste natural gas to power the greenhouse. In doing this, they dramatically decrease the cost to power their production, in turn create a highly effective system. Sean Noda, the chief cultivator was kind enough to show us around.  What you're going to see out this greenhouse is a three quarter of an acre production facility. We grow everything in deep water culture. So essentially the plants are floating on graphs. We actually have the capability to produce over 25,000 units of lettuce a week. The way this system works is it uses our chilled water technology to pull in warm moist air drops it out as a condensation and blows out cooler, drier air, the water that's recaptured actually goes into a large holding tank. And we reuse that water for all our needs cleaning, irrigating benches, and so on. The whole system is based on 33 days for butterhead lettuce in the wintertime, that's a little difficult to achieve. Just because in Western New York, our natural light levels are very low. We do use supplemental lighting but quite frankly, nothing's as good as the sun. You'll probably find that this is one of the more pleasant, environmentally pleasing greenhouses to walk through even on a sunny day.  Explain a little bit what are the advantages of code generator for growing operators. So the code Gen is essentially going to reduce our electric consumption. by burning natural gas we can both produce electric to run lights and basically supply electric for most of our needs in the facility. And at the same time we can harvest co2 off of it. We can pump that into the greenhouse and the plants will use that for the photosynthetic process to grow faster.  Subscribe to get updates along Steve's journey, learn about the world of long-distance biking and exclusive interviews with entrepreneurial guests! 🚵  ✅ Website: https://bizinmotion.org/✅ Facebook: facebook.com/bizinmotion ✅ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bizinmotion✅ Podcast: https://anchor.fm/bizinmotion✅ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7mIIH8if4nXTX2GHZ3KmlM -----  🎥 CHARLES EDMUND ADAMS | Film Director • Cinematographer • Aerial Cinematographer  VIMEO: vimeo.com/user99636616 IG: www.instagram.com/charlesedmundadams/ LINKEDIN: www.linkedin.com/in/charlesedmundadams/

SHARON, VT // VLOG 51

VLOG 51: We went from Fort Ticonderoga to Sharon, Vermont. Long bike ride, long day that did go up a really big mountain called Green Mountain. Beautiful pass and there was about four or five inches of snow on the ground but not on the highway obviously or we wouldn't have made it overt the pass. So it was a kind of a cool day but it didn't rain, didn't snow. So only two more days to go! So please press that like button and don't forget, this is a ride to raise money for a fellowship. So take a look at the entrepreneurs we've interviewed and please donate! 🚴 #bizinmotion

VLOG 50: Thanks for joining us. We biked today from Blue Mountain Lake, New York to Fort Ticonderoga, NY. As you can see behind me. Unfortunately, we can't get in because it is too late in the season. But this is a famous sport. Most of you maybe know the history that Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold captured this from the British. It was a very strategic at the time. So it's good to be here. We're getting close to the end. We only have three more days of biking, very rainy day. We're going to get some rainy weather I think the last few days but keep tuning in. We're getting close to the finish! GILSON SNOW | NEW BERLIN, PA // ENTREPRENUER SPOTLIGHT

ABOUT GILSON SNOW: From the classroom, to the stable, to the fastest growing independent brand in snow sports.  Borrowing concepts from surfing and sailing, middle school science teachers Nicholas Gilson and Austin Royer led a class project exploring fluid dynamics in snow.  The year-long effort twisted through countless failures, including a board Austin described as like “trying to ride a canoe down the mountain.” Each failure offered a new insight, ultimately leading to 3 significant innovations and the early Gilson design.  In 2013, Nick and Austin launched the company out of the classroom with their students.  WEBSITE: gilsonsnow.com INSTA: instagram.com/gilsonsnow/ FB: facebook.com/GilsonSnow  Subscribe to get updates along Steve's journey, learn about the world of long-distance biking and exclusive interviews with entrepreneurial guests! 🚵  ✅ Website: https://bizinmotion.org/✅ Facebook: facebook.com/bizinmotion ✅ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bizinmotion✅ Podcast: https://anchor.fm/bizinmotion✅ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7mIIH8if4nXTX2GHZ3KmlM

It was a very beautiful ride as we kind of went up quite a bit of hills through some beautiful forested state park areas with streams, obviously trout streams and lakes. And it kind of reminded us a little bit of Montana and northern Minnesota combined. Beautiful area. Nice little towns, very serene surrounding. So it was a nice day. Sun was out, cool fall day, kind of a hard ride because of the steep hills, but we made it through and tomorrow's a rest day. We're looking forward to that and then on over the mountains to Portland. There were some nice big waves on the lake. Some pretty homes along the lake too.   You may notice I'm wearing my little Trek hat because I was able to get my Trek goods shipped to a local store in Cleveland, Eddie's bike shop so I can pick up some extra warm clothing for the expected cold weather. WEEK 5-7 RECAP

WEEK 5-7 RECAP

So this last several weeks, five through seven, were about getting home. Home to me is a place where you have deep roots and connections. So I think I said when we were getting it in North Dakota, I was feeling close to home because I spent time, significant time in North Dakota. And specifically, I was determined to get to my brothers in Minnesota, northern Minnesota, Theta Lake. Because my siblings and my step siblings, were going to all meet for a celebration of my Step Mom's Memorial because she died during COVID. And we couldn't go to the funeral. So this was the first chance for family to get together. So for me, home was northern Minnesota where I grew up with my siblings. And so special place, the roads and and the places we were all familiar and close with my family. So I was highly motivated to make it to my brother's place some time for that memorial. And then right after that, we're headed toward Lake Geneva, where my home is. This is coming from and where my wife and step sons and daughters live and my two dogs. And so I was very motivated to get home. And I think there was one day as we were traveling, and we were having a tough day and I was saying to my son, I just want to get home. There's a saying that there could be no joy without suffering. And so part of the part of the suffering gets you the joy. But part of that joy gets you to the suffering and family and friends and people I know throughout the years that I've worked with entrepreneurs and investors and others are really good people and that emotional support has allowed me to go forward with this. I mean, when I'm on the bike, it's kind of just a meditative sort of state. And it just feels right for me to be on that bike biking. My son was a little surprised, I think he was saying, how he is always impressed that I can just keep going. And I say, "Well I just kind of get in. It's a meditative kind of feeling. I just enjoy being on the bike and feeling the earth. Feeling the wind in my face. It's kind of like meditating, serene feeling for me. So on the bike, I'm at home in the South. 🚴 #bizinmotion ABOUT THE RIDE: Imagine having the ability to fund a fellowship to teach tomorrow’s community leaders about entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership with the click of a button. I think this is my slowest day took five hours to go 60 miles that normally takes me four hours. No problem, but today, it was very windy. But it was nice and it was dry. So I was happy. BATTLE CREEK, MI // VLOG 37

Day 37 Update: We biked from West LeRoy, Michigan which is by Battle Creek to Southside Battle Creek, to a state park which is across the lake. They were close so we were going to camp there, but instead we are at Evans Lake Resort - nice guys. So we have a nice little cabin, got to take a nice warm shower which was nice because we had the coldest start to our mornings, it was 30 degrees when we started, didn't get warmer than about 45 and it was misty all day so it's kind of a cool day but a good day for biking. It was kind of like biking through the woods, lots of wooded areas small pasture land and then we got down here and it was a little bit more lake. So pretty good ride, cool ride. Enjoyed the day. So be sure to push that like button and don't forget to donate to the fellowship guys. Day 36: Welcome, everybody. Glad you're tuned in. We biked from New Haven, Michigan to West Leroy. Actually, he was working on his PhD and I worked with him as a student in the lab. So we go back a long ways. It was a cold start to the day - 40 degrees, but it warmed up to the mid 50s beautiful sunny day in contrast. Nothing but rain yesterday, so we had a nice fall bike ride through Western Michigan. CAMBRIDGE, WI // VLOG 32

Day 32: So we left this morning from Rock Springs and bicycled to Cambridge. It was about 80 miles to Cambridge, Wisconsin. Beautiful fall Wisconsin day, very pastoral settings most of the day.   We made our way through Madison. And Madison, of course, is one of the bike capitals of the world. So lots of routes through the town that help us navigate the town. It was a nice way to do that.   Tonight, we're staying at my sister in law's farmstead outside of Cambridge. And it's a beautiful fall night with the moon behind us as you can see, and we're looking forward to seeing the stars tonight.   So, thanks for tuning in. We appreciate you tuning in. ALMA, WI | Drone stuck in a tree 😕 // VLOG 29

DAY 29: Before I start, I want to introduce Peter Mercil my son, he's the new sag driver. Excellent driver, just like Mike Clements, who was an excellent driver.   We biked about 70 miles today from St. Croix bluffs park to Alma, Wisconsin. But it was a beautiful day along the Mississippi. But the real story was not the biking, it was the drone incident. So Peter, could you start telling the story about the drone incident:  So well, you know, things happen, mistakes are made. And we got the drone stuck in a tree at about 10 o'clock this morning. And it took us all day to get the drone out of the tree. It was quite the production and we were trying to keep up with that and make sure Steve had his support.  We tried to get the drone out of the tree by throwing rocks and sticks and aluminum cans, we tried shooting it with an airsoft gun. And finally, we actually had to hire a professional tree climber to get the drone out of the tree, which he did successfully. However, the drone is not intact. So we retrieved the drone, we were not able to salvage it and it took us all day. So luckily this was a good stretch of road that Steve already knew and could just do his thing and he didn't give us a hard time.   I was terrified at any moment he was gonna call me and yell at me, asked me where we were and I was gonna be like we're still messing with the drone, but we're all back together again and hopefully our next day on the road will be smoother.  So stay updated for the next segment about the drone and push that like button! 👍 #bizinmotion

WEEK III & IV RECAP | GRIT

WEEK III & IV RECAP | GRIT

These past two weeks can be characterized by a lot of endurance and persistence. That's because Eastern Montana's landscapes have vast and unchanging hills, lots of long grinding days. I was determined to get through it. And that that determination at the end of very hard hot day just encouraged me and made me feel good about myself that I could continue this trip.  There were days where I was sore, but I didn't think of stopping. I just thought I'm gonna make it, I'm going to make it, I'm just gonna keep going and never said I got to stop.  ABOUT THE RIDE: Imagine having the ability to fund a fellowship to teach tomorrow’s community leaders about entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership with the click of a button. Day 27 so we went from Father Hennepin State Park seeing the shores of mill, it was beautiful on the way to St. Croix, Taylor Falls and Interstate Park. We're on the Wisconsin side so it says St. Croix River behind me. A wild and protected river, beautiful river. Today was a dreary day. Most of the day it was misty and rainy part of the day. We did see some peasants and eagle in flight, so we saw a little bit of wildlife but it was a pretty good day on the road. So good bicycling day, except for the weather, but we made it here in time and tomorrow. ENTREPRENEUR SPOTLIGHT: Meet Adventure Cycling

Adventure Cycling inspires and empowers people to travel by bicycle.  As a nonprofit organization, Adventure Cycling Association's mission is to inspire and empower people to travel by bicycle. Established in 1973 as Bikecentennial, we are the premier bicycle-travel organization in North America with more than 40 years of experience and 53,000 members.   Cycling one of our routes this summer or passing through Montana? Be sure to visit our headquarters in Missoula.  WEBSITE: https://www.adventurecycling.org/ YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/c/AdvCyclingA... Adventure Cycling Association: Our mission is to inspire, empower and connect people to travel by bicycle started off with a really interesting story of two couples who did an amazing bicycle trip for the state of Alaska to the tip of South America. And so on that journey, those two couples brainstorm the amazing idea of creating a bicycle route across the United States. And from there is where the Adventure Cycling Association starts. Cyclists stop through adventure cycling and I would say 95% of these people, each summer are doing the transition. They're either on their way to Virginia or rural Oregon.  ----//BIZINMOTION//----  ABOUT THE RIDE: Imagine having the ability to fund a fellowship to teach tomorrow’s community leaders about entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership with the click of a button. BRAINERD, MN // VLOG 25

We went from Park Rapids Minnesota to Brainerd, Minnesota but 80 plus miles. In the last several hours were in the rain. It was kind of a cloudy, cold rainy day, all day long. But it was a good day we got here we followed the Paul Bunyan trail most of the way from Hackensack Brainerd about 48 miles. It's a wonderful little trail through the woods. So if you're a bike enthusiast or a recreational enthusiast, it's a great trail for your try. So tomorrow we're off to further east to Hennepin father Hennepin State Park. So thanks for tuning in. RICK'S AVIATION ADVENTURE OUTPOST

RICK'S AVIATION ADVENTURE OUTPOST

Day 24 Update: We bicycled from Fargo, North Dakota, to Rick's Aviation Educational Outpost, North of Park Rapids, Minnesota, about 90 miles. 🪵  It was a long day, mainly because we had a strong 70 plus mile an hour, south east wind. So the wind was here, but not quite in my face. We saw several eagles, got some good pictures and even some footage of swans. 🦅  So it was a beautiful day, we’re going to be here for a few days. We have a family gathering from a memorial service for my mother, my stepmother will remain herself so we're looking forward to getting together with family and honoring her love this week.   Thanks for tuning in and be sure to hit that button, and please consider donating 🎁 #bizinmotion ABOUT THE RIDE: Imagine having the ability to fund a fellowship to teach tomorrow’s community leaders about entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership with the click of a button. FARGO, ND 🦬 // VLOG 23

Today is update 23, we travelled from Enderlin, North Dakota to Fargo, North Dakota. So we happen to be in Fargo, North Dakota Research and Technology Center. I think this bison here is a really good symbol of North Dakota.   And we are about to enter Minnesota in the next couple of days. So we're heading to Minnesota and then Wisconsin the next couple of weeks. But we had really good weather today. beautiful weather, nice blue skies, not much when I got into by noon. 😅  So an excellent day of biking. Tomorrow, we're gonna get a chance to spend some more time at the research center and learn about their activities. And then on Wednesday, we're heading to North Park Rapids, Minnesota, in the land of sky blue waters, and Lake Itasca where we're gonna stop for a few days I get a little rest in that checkout scene in the upper Minnesota. ENDERLAIN, ND // VLOG 22

Day 22 bicycling across the country we went from Gackle to Enderlain, about 75 miles. Very beautiful day straight road, not very many hills or anything. What was interesting is we had to again climb up over the Continental Divide, of course it was only about 1200 feet. And what it divides is that the water that flows West goes into the Missouri, the water that goes East because of the Cheyenne River, which flows north into the Hudson Bay. That's why it's called the Continental Divide is right in that spot about 10 miles west of town. So a great day on the bike, fast day, and we're here for a short time hitting Fargo tomorrow. So keep track of me. GACKLE, ND // VLOG 21

Day 21 of bicycling: You can see that we made it to Gackle. Gackles is a nice little town It was 105 miles between Bismarck and Gackle and it was kind of a long uphill. Rolling Hill kind of thing reminded me a little bit of eastern Montana. But Gackle is quite a small town we felt very welcome and I packed as I pulled into town I get greeted by one of my best friends from high school, Dan Wakefield and surprise my sister Kathy so that was fun. And they had gone around town and learned a lot about the town there's a really neat little honey operation and bakery and we had a guy walk up to us and Opera place to stay where bicyclists can stay they get bicyclists through here so if you're biking across America in the area and you need a place to stay Gackle was the place to stay. So a wonderful day, great day in Gackle.

WEBSITE: https://www.adventurecycling.org/ YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/c/AdvCyclingAssoc/videos Adventure Cycling Association: Our mission is to inspire, empower and connect people to travel by bicycle started off with a really interesting story of two couples who did an amazing bicycle trip for the state of Alaska to the tip of South America. And so on that journey, those two couples brainstorm the amazing idea of creating a bicycle route across the United States. And from there is where the Adventure Cycling Association starts. Cyclists stop through adventure cycling and I would say 95% of these people, each summer are doing the transition. BISMARCK, ND 🏞 // VLOG 20

VLOG 20: This is a special place because we are at the banks of the Missouri River. Between Mandan and Bismarck, North Dakota. We biked from Hebron today about 60 miles.   And what's special about this place is of course Lewis and Clark came here and they started their voyage in the spring of the year.   They got here in October, and they ended up meeting the Mandan Indian Tribe and setting up a fort here and wintering here. We’ve been following the Lewis and Clark trail from Cape Disappointment to this point.  From this point forward, we're going to leave the trail and we're going to head across North Dakota in to Minnesota. But this is a special place, you can see the Missouri River here. 🏞  It’s a great tribute to innovation and exploration and commitment to Lewis and Clark, to get to the Pacific and be able to tell us about the territory and survive that whole experience. So thank you, Lewis and Clark for that heritage. And thank you for tuning in to our update.   We appreciate you tuning in, be sure to press that like button, but also go to bizinmotion.org and consider donating for the cause. HEBRON, ND // VLOG 19

DAY 19: Biking from Medora to Hebron, "Heb-Ron" or as my colleague Mike says "He-Bron" Dakota. It was a little shorter than we thought because of construction and interstate. So it was 57 miles in that 70 miles, so a little shorter, but it was a cold day it was in the lower 50s and it rained off and on throughout the day and it was a cold rain got very wet. And last especially the last half hour of the ride. ☔️   So it was nice to get in town and get changed and get warmed up. We're coming to you from The Dark Side of the Brew coffee house in Hebron and it's very good coffee very good host and so we appreciate that.☕️  Tomorrow we're in Central Time, my home central time zone for several months. So that's nice. We're heading to Bismarck, North Dakota tomorrow. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be in the 70s and not raining, so it should be a nice bike day.   So thanks for keeping tabs with me again. BADLANDS, ND 🐴 // VLOG 18

DAY 18: On the bike and we went from Glendive to Medora. So we're in North Dakota and it is one of my home states. So it feels like I'm getting closer to my home territory. We're camped at a state park right outside of Medora, Sully’s Creek State Park, beautiful surrounded by the Badlands.   It was kind of a short day, more short than we expected because 40 miles of the route are on I-90 and we decided that it was not the safest thing to do. So some parts of I-90 we did not do. We did this beautiful ride on what they call old highway 10. A beautiful road. It remind me of some of the other nice isolated roads we've been on a golden eagle on the route.  It was about 30 out of the 70 miles potential for the day because of the I-90 issue. But I'm glad we made that decision because safety first. So again, continue to tune in, hit that like button. CIRCLE, MT | 92 hills, Chuck, Dante's Inferno // VLOG 16

DAY 16 UPDATE: Thanks for joining us today. It was another long ride, I did 97 miles yesterday and did 92 today. It was supposed to be 100 miles but we ran into eight miles of construction that we couldn't get through.   We had to hop in the van to get through the construction zone. So it was 92 miles from Sand Springs, Montana to Circle, Montana. And it was a long grinding day.   You go about a mile and then you have to go uphill and then you go a mile and have to go uphill and go a mile you have to go uphill so I went up 92 hills and miles today. 😅   I have been getting requests to get the man behind the camera in front of the camera. So I want to introduce you to Chuck, our Director // Visual Storyteller 🎥 🎬  He’s been doing a terrific job. And Chuck's been reading this book, The Divine Comedy: The Inferno and guess what he said to me on the road today?  Chuck: So Steve gets in, he's covered in sweat just brutal day, one of our hottest days so far. And I lifted the book up and said read this if you want a poetic description of what you're doing out there, sweat everywhere, hills, the full nine yards.  A little backstory, 17 years ago, my son and I did a portion of the Columbia River and we call that day Dante's Inferno and today was Dante’s number two day.   It was a hot day for 92 miles, but we made it safely. The sun is starting to cool down so we're gonna have a nice evening of cool weather and good comfortable sleep before we head to the last part of Montana. ⛰   We're only about 100 miles from the North Dakota border, so we’ll be there soon. SPRING CREEK, MT 🌌 // VLOG 15

Day 15: We went from Lewiston to Spring Creek. We’re no longer in mountain area, we are in the eastern part of Montana, Big Sky Country. We did a 97 mile route today.  We went up for a while to get over the Judas Mountain Pass. Not a big pass, but went up this nice mountain or hill, which then flowed downward for a while. Then for 50 miles, it was up with rolling hills, so it was a tiring route. 97 miles but we made it in good time and we have a little camp spot in the middle of the countryside.   We'll be spending the night under and watching the stars. We’ll probably see some good stars tomorrow and we got another long ride in western Montana. LEWISTOWN, MT 🚁 // VLOG 14

DAY 14: Coming to you from Judith Mountain Lodge, just outside Lewistown, Montana. We picked up a day yesterday by getting into Great Falls Montana a day earlier than anticipated. ⏰ ✅  We actually stopped a little bit short of what the route was because there's a bunch of construction outside of town. So rather than it being a 100 mile day, it wound up being a 75 mile day. That’s okay, all part of the gig. Tomorrow’s a rest day, which will be good.  The most interesting part of the day was riding along the highway and this helicopter swooped down on us. 🚁 In fact, it was a little scary as it circled around us. Later on a police car pulled us over and said that there was a convoy coming through with a wide load so they wanted to make sure that we were far enough off the side of the road so we would be safe.  It was a nice day, cloudy and cool at 60 degrees. We made good time and we're looking forward to a rest day tomorrow here at the lodge. GREAT FALLS, MT 🌊 // VLOG 13

Day 13 was a long day. He started out in Lincoln, Montana and ended up in Great Falls Montana. It was the longest day of the ride so far at 85 miles total. It started out with about a 20 mile ride up to the top of Rogers Pass, which is 5600 feet. It’s actually quite a bit easier than Lolo pass, it was more gradual. We were a little surprised that it went so well. 🚵  And then down toward Great Falls a lot of valleys. We were worried because you'd go down a valley, and then go up a pretty steep hill. There were at least half a dozen it seemed like and they never ended. We had to be careful, because it could cause some stability issues. 😬  But, once he made it to Simms, Montana, we decided that we would go the extra mile and get to Great Falls. Luckily we had the wind on our back for most of that. The last 10 miles were rough, my body was tired and it took a little while to get into Great Falls, but we're here! A day early!   Things are going well and the temperature is 80 degrees! So we look forward to another day tomorrow. FIRST 75 MILE DAY 🏁 // VLOG 12

VLOG 12: So today, bicycle from Missoula to Lincoln at a total of 75 miles. The longest day so far. 💪   It started out very cold in the mid 30s. Even though I had a warm hat on under my bike helmet, I almost stopped and put my face mask on it was that cold. Very foggy. It took a long time  the sun to finally burst through and start to warm things up. We're in Lincoln at a little Colony Park. ☀️ Because I was able to get two rest days in Missoula, I think my legs felt good and fresh.   Tomorrow will be another long day, a 75 mile ride. The challenge is the first part of the ride, we go up a mountain pass, it's about 5600 feet. Then we ride another 60 miles or so. So hopefully it'll be a good day tomorrow, so we can get over that mountain and get to the next town. 🏔 So keep checking on us and be sure to hit that like button!

MISSOULA, MT // VLOG 11

VLOG 11: Today we ventured through Lolo Pass so the challenge was to get through the pass. It's a 12.8 mile climb and we made really good time. I was really pleased with getting over Lolo pass. It's a tribute to my coach Mike Norton portraying me and my bike a seven pack for getting me here. 📢🚴‍♂️  At the top, they have a nice Visitor Center, we got a chance to have a visit with the park ranger interesting little interview at will edit and post later on. So stay tuned for that. And what was the payoff was the rest of the ride, the rest of the day was like 40 miles down to Missoula. So we made Missoula and because of the way we staggered the days, and I biked for five days in a row, instead of taking a day off, we get two days off. So tomorrow's a day off.   And it's supposed to rain on the rest day so we get to skip the rain. Meet Mike and Anne, Owner's of Chief Springs's Fire and Irons Brew Pub

Meet Mike and Anne, Owner's of Chief Springs's Fire and Irons Brew Pub

We’re here in Dayton, Washington at the Chief Springs Fire and Iron Brew Pub. Nice little town Dayton, and we had dinner here last night. We enjoyed the food and conversations. So we're looking forward to talking to Anne and Mike Springs. They came up with their name because Mike was a fire chief for about 20 years of his career and the springs part comes from their last name. All of Mike’s firefighter friends would always call him chief, so the name stuck.   Mike and Anne got into the business because of the romantic dream of standing behind the bar, serving people coming from Mike's passion for helping people. Their motto reflects this in “The only thing we serve is customer service.” They want people to come to their pub, enjoy great beer, good food and old friends.   They brew their own beer in the basement. Everything they serve is either grown locally or sourced between the Poluse and Spokane - it’s all high quality grain. They also use local wheat and apple juice squeezed from local orchards.  The Spring’s put their own blood and sweat into the business, which has been essential for surviving the pandemic. They are thankful for the community support. If you're coming to Dayton, be sure you stop at Chief Spring’s Fire and Iron Brew Pub and meet Anne and Mike, enjoy some local home-brewed ale, good food, good company in a good community!  Subscribe to get updates along Steve's journey, learn about the world of long-distance biking and exclusive interviews with entrepreneurial guests! 🚵  ✅ Website: https://bizinmotion.org/✅ Facebook: facebook.com/bizinmotion ✅ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bizinmotion✅ Podcast: https://anchor.fm/bizinmotion✅ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7mIIH8i...

VLOG 10 - TROUT, RIVERS & BRIDGES: Another beautiful day, a little chilly so we had to double up on layers to stay warm. Stunning to be surrounded by the forests, and be able to hear a stream along the way. We had a nice lunch and we could even see trout swimming in some pools as we followed along the Lochsa River near Lowell, Idaho.  We were able to stop by an awesome suspension bridge over the river, which connected to a trail that went up into the mountains. We did 65 miles of riding on a gradual uphill to the base of Lolo Pass. BLUE MOUNTAINS, OR // VLOG 9

VLOG 9: Another beautiful day started out very cold up in quick, smart Idaho. So we're up on top of the plane I think of the Blue Mountains. And it was 39 degrees and we traveled about 30 miles down from the plane. To the Rockies we beginning of the Rockies following the Clearwater from for another 30 miles and here we are in low Idaho and you can see from my surroundings, I feel like I feel like I should be in a movie fly fishing or something. And we saw a fly fisherman on the way. So Beautiful day about a 63 mile ride. Excellent sunny day, beautiful all afternoon. Nice ride especially a lot easier than the previous two days where we have long long climbs. So we're headed to low low pass we'll take on a low low pass in the next couple of days. GRAIGMOUNT, ID | We returned a dog 🐶 // VLOG 8

VLOG 8: Lewiston might not be the longest route, I think it's about 50 miles. So that's the one of the tougher days we had 27 miles up along kind of a mountain pass. And so it was slow going, kind of wore you out just from the switch the physical part, but the mental state of the game, but here we are, you're flapped, we're gonna rest up for basically, the Rocky Mountains starting this week. So we got a little taste of what it's like to tie him up. We got some more. Who started the day out with Chuck, videographer finding his three little shepherd dog in the parking lot that we were staying at that we stayed at a hotel last night. It was a nice dog, and we were able to get the information off the collar and contact the owner and there was a working separate dog. And they had brought the cattle down a month earlier this year because of the moisture problems in the area. And Rocky was kind of answered because rocky didn't have any cattle herd and kind of wandered off and so it was good that we found the dog so the Good Samaritan story I start the day with and a long climb and a successful day. Meet Susan Langer, CEO of LIVE GIVE SAVE

Susan Langer saw the perfect storm on the horizon when she transitioned from donor to employee with World Vision, following the attacks on 9/11. After consulting nonprofits through the 2008 financial crisis, Susan saw the need for new mechanisms to better engage donors, simplify technology for nonprofits and bridge the gap between donation and impact. Thus, the creation of Live.Give.Save. and Spave.  The COVID-19 global pandemic has amplified the need for new methods and mechanisms to help nonprofits remain not only in tact but able to recalibrate and adjust the delivery of their services within undefined new norms and continual uncertainty.

MCNARY, OR // VLOG 5

DAY 5: We got in kind of in the rain last night got set up this morning was really cool, everything was wet, wasn't raining, but we got things closed up. And then we were about ready to take off and we had a flat tire on the van. Fortunately, the bike pump put on fanfare so we pumped up the tire and got to a local place and got that fixed out on the road a couple hours later than we thought down the road about our flat tire on the bike. So we messed around with that, and rather than try to change, the switch breaks. So today was flat tire day. But it was a clear day it was a nice warm day. Good mileage we did about 70 miles pull in about two o'clock. It was so we're just here gonna unwind kind of get everything dried out from yesterday's rain and it all set for a long ride along. So again, keep following us. bizinmotion.org and click on the icons for our Facebook page or YouTube page or Instagram page. Check us out. Be sure to press the LED sign. And we'll talk to you tomorrow after tomorrow's right  ABOUT THE RIDE:  Imagine having the ability to fund a fellowship to teach tomorrow’s community leaders about entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership with the click of a button. COLUMBIA GORGE, WA // VLOG 4

COLUMBIA GORGE, WA // VLOG 4

VLOG 4: On the road today was one of those days that you got to be a hardcore biker to appreciate a day like today because it rained all day. Started off is going to be kind of misty rain was supposed to disappear midmorning kind of disappeared for about five minutes and then it kind of rained pretty hard actually. So it was one of those days where raining, pretty oily, not a truck washes the trucks went by. And it was a route that I call Dante's Inferno. reason I call it Dante and Vernon was the 17 years ago, my son Pierre and I did the same route. And it was 100 degrees. Today it was not 100 degrees today was 60 degrees and wet, but warm enough to keep going it was a good ride that intense ride, just a wet ride and you got to expect those. So as I said it was great biking for nitty gritty bike ride. So 65 miles in the rain. Can't wait till tomorrow got about the same distance maybe 70 and that will be at the very end of the gorge at the end of tomorrow. Stay tuned. Keep hitting that like sign and you can follow us on visit motion.org  ABOUT THE RIDE: Imagine having the ability to fund a fellowship to teach tomorrow’s community leaders about entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership with the click of a button. VLOG DAY 1: Day one got through day one, it was a great day started out cool, foggy and kind of dusty. And we made it over the story of bricks. The story of branch is the longest trust branch in North America a little over four miles long. So great, cool thing to go over that bridge, you get up over it that bridge and it's kind of a metal trust bridge. Because to the river, it's really beautiful. In a way to that's going in record time, really, I thought I'd get here by mid morning made it a little bit quicker than that. So great ride. Really, really good timing. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's ride. And also be sure to follow us so we're gonna be posting more stories along the way. And we've got a story on a really interesting company called GO Box and Portland that we're going to post later on in the week. So it was a great day. I think we're 30 643 miles from the hand.
