Heute beantworte ich drei Fragen, die mir zu meiner Haltung gegenüber dem Adoptionssystem gestellt wurden. Ihr werdet erfahren, was ich anstelle vom derzeitigen Adoptionssystem fordere und wie die Veränderung aussehen würde. Welche Rolle spielt meine eigene Erfahrung in meiner Einstellung zu Adoptionen und bin ich aufgrund dieser Erfahrung gegen die Adoption aus Ländern des Globalen Südens? Kenne ich außerdem Fälle, in denen eine Adoption aus dem Ausland nach Deutschland tatsächlich sinnvoll war? Z.B. bei schwerkranken Kindern.

What Do You Remember?

Uwera is a transracial adoptee from Rwanda who lives in Belgium. I am a transracial adoptee from The Gambia who lives in Germany. Uwera came to Belgium with 2,5 years, I left The Gambia when I was about one years old. Uwera did not speak about her feelings while I was very vocal about them. And all these things seem to have shaped our memory of our birth countries, families, and the adoption process. In today's episode the two us will explore if and how our minds and bodies stored memories. What do we consciously remember? What did knowledge have to do with it? And how did we each deal with whatever we knew and remembered? We will dive into these and more questions by sharing our backgrounds and how those shaped our perspective and feelings on our adoptions.

Is adoption per se wrong?

This is a question I'll be answering from my perspective and focus more on "Is adoption necessary in this and that scenario"? The person who asked is wondering if adoption is even then wrong when the child does not have any parents. The thought behind the question: Why procreate if there are so many kids w/o parents? I totally get this perspective and I am happy to share mine w/ you but I am also looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this - especially adoptees's.
