The Oaks

The Oaks

Welcome back to Bleakwood. It’s been a while. I’m going to try and get these dispatches out to you once a month from now on. It’s been too… The Oaks Amanda Temple was having a good day, even with the threat of a full shift at Pentarkle Industrial hanging over it. But this shift will not be like the others. This time, she'll come face to face with the orb, and the man behind its controls. The Oaks was written and narrated by Paul Stephenson. Paul writes pulp fiction for the digital age. His first novel series – the apocalyptic Blood on the Motorway trilogy – has been an Amazon bestseller on both sides of the Atlantic. A former journalist, he has a diploma in Creative Writing from Oxford University. His stories have been featured on the chart-topping horror podcasts, The Other Stories and The Night’s End. His newest project, the serial The Sunset Chronicles, is a dystopian sci-fi thriller that will delight and terrify fans of science fiction and horror alike. He is one half of the All Creatives Now team, with fellow horror author, Kev Harrison. He lives in England with his wife, two children, and one hellhound. If you want more stories from Paul, head to paulstephensonbooks.com. Bleakwood is a Hollow Stone Press production. Find out more at bleakwoodpod.com. Join us next time, for more tales from Bleakwood.

Breed

Breed

Harry's not your typical child, and his mother knows it. The question is, what to do about it? Listener note: Breed contains some scenes of animal discomfort and cruelty that may be upsetting to some, and may not be suitable for younger listeners. Breed was written by Dan Howarth and read by Paul Stephenson. Dan Howarth is a writer from the North of England. His short stories have featured in Weird Horror Magazine and The Other Stories podcast among others. His collection, Dark Missives, will take you on a tour of the roads less travelled in Northern England to explore what truly lies in the shadows. His new novella, Territory, is set in a remote Finnish hunting community, where darkness and the cold hold the villagers close. As a pack of wolves threaten the village’s future, grief-stricken hunter Jari must unite the population to reclaim their territory. The Juggler

The Juggler

Every night is the same for Norman. A few pints in the Stumbling Juggler, a place for him to marinade his regrets and petty grievances. Then back home to the house he shares with the woman he can barely tolerate. Back at that home, Tina waits in dread for the drunk that comes through the door ever night. But not tonight, for Norman's about to meet someone on the road home, someone who's about to change things for the both of them. Deep Roots

Deep Roots

The men who brave the twisted paths seeking Bleakwood’s watery heart always come in supplication. There is power in the lake, for those foolish or desperate enough not to care about the sacrifices demanded in return. At least not until it is time to pay them.  For Steve, that time has come. Deep Roots is written by Helen Lane, and narrated by Paul Stephenson. Helen Lane is a writer of YA and adult fantasy and horror. She lives in London with her family and her puppy who is determined to eat every book she owns. You can find her on twitter @HFLane_writing Bleakwood is a Hollow Stone Press production.
