Conversation as a Catalyst for Change with Laurel and Sam
This week Laurel and Sam sit back and have an honest and raw conversation about intimate partner violence and domestic assaults, as well as violence against women.
While all of us know that this is an issue that remains pervasive in the world we live in, it is not something we talk about often enough. This week marks the 34th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre at l’Ecole Polytechnique. 14 women were murdered that day. 10 women were injured and the soul focus of the assassin was to kill women because he perceived them to be a threat against what he thought his future should be.
If you live in Canada and need emergency shelter support, then please dial 2-1-1.
If you are in an emergency situation, whereby you need police to attend, then please dial 9-1-1 and order a pepperoni pizza. 9-1-1 operators are trained to understand that this is a call for help so they will confirm your address (as any good pizza place would do) and they will send officers immediately.

Cut The Clutter! - Introducing Judy Rickey Owner of Clutter Relief Services
Every one of us has a preference as to how our personal space is presented both to ourselves and to the world around us.
Some people prefer to have photographs and knickknacks, reminders and mementos of the people and places that feed our memories and our souls.

Both approaches are completely right for the person who has those feelings.
On today’s show we are speaking with Judy Rickey about the art of decluttering and what that may or may not mean to each of us. What to keep? What to give away? What to sell? Trauma No More - Introducing Kim Murphy, Certified Empowerment Coach, Certified Trauma Release Coach
From the time we are born, young women and girls are taught to downplay and minimize the feelings that we have from the traumas that we have experienced. We don’t let ourselves think about the reality that these traumas stay with us for the rest of our lives, even if they don’t manifest in the most obvious way.
How we feel them is really unique and individual to everyone of us. We may experience self limiting beliefs, depression or anxiety, and we may feel isolated in our trauma.

Being a teenager or young adult is difficult at the best of times. We find so many challenges that present to us as we try to figure out how to navigate life; fiercely wanting our independence while at the same time still being young enough to not really know what the best course of action might be. Layered into that may be the challenge of knowing that your sexuality is different than that of the majority of your peers; it can add an incredible amount of pressure on the young person.
This week we are incredibly lucky to speak to one of Canada‘s youngest coaches, Alannah Byers. Alannah works with 2SLGBTQIA+ young people and their families or friends if they so choose and she coaches them about navigating a world that has a very heterosexual normative approach.

Being a teenager or young adult is difficult at the best of times. We find so many challenges that present to us as we try to figure out how to navigate life; fiercely wanting our independence while at the same time still being young enough to not really know what the best course of action might be. This week we are incredibly lucky to speak to one of Canada‘s youngest coaches, Alannah Byers. Alannah works with 2SLGBTQIA+ young people and their families or friends if they so choose and she coaches them about navigating a world that has a very heterosexual normative approach.
