#30 School School I Like School (Titus 2:11-14)
Titus 2:11-14
11For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
INTRODUCTION:
Grace not only saves us, it educates us, it schools us, it instructs us, it informs us, it trains us, it edifies us, it disciplines us, and churches us up to represent Christ. There is indeed a disconnect today between the concept of a conversion experience, being born again in Jesus and the incarnation of a Christian life and lifestyle. I think most Christians know what to do, regarding our behavior, actions, duties, and so on, but we are not doing it. All over social media and the internet you can find current stories about modern so-called believers behaving badly, or to be fair just behaving like the world.

Pastor Brandon Galbreath Psalm 2 (ESV)
2 Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6 “As for me, I have set my King
on Zion, my holy hill.”
7 I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, “You are my Son;
today I have begotten you.
8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You shall break them with a rod of iron
and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.”
10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear,
and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled.

False Gospel Wars part 2 (2 Timothy 4:1-5) 2 Timothy 4:1-5
English Standard Version
Preach the Word
4 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 5 As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Tribute to Dr. Charles Stanley (1932-2023)
Just because someone talks about Jesus or even sings about Jesus doesn’t mean that they are a Christian. If people call someone a prophet or pastor, it doesn’t mean they are truly one. How can believers the difference between, those who are truly inspired by Christ from those who falsely claim that the Spirit is in them? I’m glad you asked! Although, false prophets and counterfeit preachers are nothing new. There were false prophets in O.T. times, again in the N.T and in our present times. We can see in 1 Corinthians 12:3, Paul had to give a ruling on when a person was speaking by the Spirit of God.
3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.
(1 Corinthians 12:3)
Scripture also says, many false prophets have gone out into the world (cf. Mt. 7:15; 24:11, 24; Acts 13:6). The religions of the ancient times all commonly claimed to have spirit-possessed men, but John warns that not everyone who claims to speak under inspiration is to be regarded as truly inspired. Believers must not accept every claim to inspiration, we must test the spirits. What is the test? It’s simple. Their attitude towards Jesus Christ. Dr. Charles Stanley once said the most important question you will ever answer is, “What do you think about Jesus Christ?” If the Spirit of God is in the person who claims they are divinely inspired, he or she will affirm that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, that He is the Messiah, He is God, He always existed from eternity past to now and forever. The spirit that refuses this confession is not from God. In fact it is the spirit of the antichrist. I’m not a prophet, I’m a pastor which is very different in my opinion. I’m a little weary of modern-day prophets. I’m so weary of prophets Pentecostals could make Baptist meme out me, but I am not cessationsist. I think it’s okay for me to be a little weary of prophets considering I’m a pastor and what John has already said. 1 John 2:18 states;
18 Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore, we know that it is the last hour.
(1 John 2:18)
So what we know for sure is that there are many antichrists. 1 John 2:22 provides us a definition, "22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son." The main point about the antichrist is his refusal to acknowledge that Jesus is the Christ, ‘come in the flesh. John’s readers appear to have understood the antichrist’s coming as future, but John sees it as a present reality. There is no need for Christians to be fearful. You, the believer are set in strong contrast to the antichrists. Believers like you are from God, and you have overcome. John is saying that God is more

Galatians 1:6-9
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

If a "Bible Ceremony" is something you are not familiar with, it is a family tradition that has taken place for centuries. This tradition is common among rural, and mostly southern Protestant Americans, very similar to "the family Bible" tradition.

Philippians 4:6-8English Standard Version
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Palm Sunday Sermon 2023

Matthew 21:1-11
21 Now when they drew near to
Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then
Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to
them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find
a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If
anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will
send them at once.” 4 This took place to
fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying,
5 “Say to
the daughter of Zion,
‘Behold, your king is coming to you,
humble, and mounted on a donkey,
on a colt,[a] the
foal of a beast of burden.’”
6 The disciples went and did
as Jesus had directed them. 7 They brought the
donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. 8 Most
of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from
the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And the
crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna
to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!” 10 And when he
entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” 11 And
the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of
Galilee.”

"Godly Grannies Never Die" (Romans 5:6-8)
"Godly Grannies Never Die" (Romans 5:6-8)
Romans 5:6-8 English Standard Version (ESV)
"6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
When I was a young child my German grandmother told me that all you can hope to be in life is a good man. That same grandmother told me when I turned 18, that I was no good. For years, and years I kept trying to be a good man but, no matter what I did I could not live up to those expectations. I could never live up to this image of a good man in the eyes of my grandmother. Although, I loved and cherished my “Hotzi” her standards and expectations of her only grandson were never rational or even realistic. However, my Texas born grandmother had a different twist on life, and she never told me to be a good man. Instead, she told me everything she was telling me was for my own good. Her name was Granny Jackson, affectionally known as "Gangy." There were times I would get so mad at Granny Jackson during the physical therapy I had to undergo as a child. I was born with a weaken and crocked right foot from complications during delivery the day I was born at the hospital. I was about 4 years old when I started doing physical therapy. I remember getting so furious when Granny said, “this is for your own good.” Amongst other things she told me that were for my own good were whooping’s, homework, and bedtime. I hated all those things. None of these of things seemed good to me. We had to bless the food no matter how hungry I was, and we had to go to church no matter how boring it was. What did she say, “Church is for your own good.” How, am I to be good man, if I do not like all these things that are for my own good? If we look at both of what my grandmothers said and blended into what God would have us understand today, then they were both correct. I am no good and all those things Granny Jackson had me do or obey were for my own good.
But, why did Granny Jackson never say that I was no good even though I really am no good. Because, Granny Jackson knew she herself and everyone else were no good but, only that God is truly good. Therefore, God is for our own Good.

Are You Free? (Isaiah 61 Sermon)
Isaiah: 61:1-4
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. 4They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
