Failure to obtain improved profitability is rarely attributable to the technical solution itself but rather to the context in which that solution is implemented. The keys are found in identifying and agreeing on the correct purpose of the solution, in engaging the appropriate people in advising on and implementing the changes that arise from the solution, and in the position the technical solution occupies in the process of producing and servicing the mortgage loan. We offer a framework for achieving positive ROI based on the purpose, the people, and the position engaged in the mortgage technology investment.
