Parenting, Football and Accountability
The Brothers from the 818 are back with Episode 23. Tonight we went off on a deep tangent based off of Caleb's check-in. Wait until you hear this story. As a parent, I have definitely been there. For any of you parents out there, I know you have been there too. What would you have done if you were in his shoes? Leave us a comment and let us know. Football is back and the first two weeks (with no fans in the stands) has been quite interesting. What are your thoughts on the NFL and Covid-19? Should coaches have to wear masks on the sidelines? Should they be fined six figures for not wearing a mask? Are they making too much money if they are unfazed by the fine? These questions and more are discussed in this episode. Finally, what does accountability mean to you, and how far does it integrate into your public life? Your private life? Are they one and the same? Check out this week's episode for all of that and more. Stick around to hear about "Caring Cars" and "Crabwalks". You never know what we are going to bring up.

Fires, Breonna and the C-O-M-P-T-O-N
The Brothers from the 818 are back with some deep conversation on what's happening outside your windows today. In episode 22, the Brothers discuss the fires that are affecting the west coast and how that impact is spreading across the nation. We discuss the settlement reached between the family of Breonna Taylor and the city of Louisville and what it truly means to settle. How do you place a monetary value on a life lost and what factors help you determine a number? Lastly, we touched on the shooting of the two officers in Compton this weekend. Our prayers go out to the officers for a speedy recovery. As well to the city of Compton for peace and civil REST to flow through that city. Tune in for an engaging discussion as only the Brothers from the 818 can do it.

This is a Public Service Announcement
** This episode was recorded on September 1, 2020. In the middle of the upload, my laptop crashed and I lost everything (that wasn't backed up). The tone you will hear in this podcast continued through-out the week as I fought hard to recover this podcast. The Brothers from the 818 always keep it Raw and Real and this is one that you had to hear for yourself. We present to you Episode 21. **
WAKE UP BLACK MAN!! It's hunting season and you are the target. Tonight the Brothers from the 818 are bringing you a Public Service Announcement that you need to take seriously. Over the last year, there have been countless murders by so-called authority figures that appear to be on a mission to eradicate the black man. They have been murdered in broad daylight, shot in the back, shot while sleeping, shot while running away, and shot by vigilante neighbors while jogging. They've been handcuffed ... and shot. Asked for identification ... and shot. Placed in a jail cell ... and found hung.
What can you do to protect yourself? Life has no guarantees, but tune in to hear the types of things that help you, vs. the types of things that hurt you. Ask yourself, what do you have to live for? Is your mission to live to fight the system or to allow your death to tell the story. The Brothers from the 818 believe that we have lost too many already and the senseless violence against Black Men must stop!!
Feel free to share your thoughts.

State of Hip Hop - Part I
The Brothers from the 818 are super excited to bring you episode 16 - The long-awaited State of Hip Hop. The conversation got so deep we had to put a pin in it to make way for Part II. The Brothers hosted FIVE guests tonight representing the entire history of the genre. Big Roc, Blakfist, V3rb, Josh, and BigBadRaky each came with an unadulterated TRUTH. The difference between our youngest and oldest guest was almost 40 years. It was an amazing walk through history; highlighting artists, geographical locations, talent (and no talent), commercialism, and how the music affects the culture. Question of the night: What is the difference between Rap and Hip Hop? And, is Rap dead? Tune in for our thoughts on those questions and more.
