Black History Month and Black Educators

Black History Month and Black Educators

Black History Month was started by a Black educator. Black History Month is Black education. This video focuses on the origins of Black History Month and the legacy of Dr. Carter G. Woodson known as the Father of Black History. The video was originally recorded and streamed via YouTube. What originated as Black History Week eventually evolved into what we have come to know today as Black History Month. Founded by a Black educator, Black History Month needs Black educators to take a prominent and proactive role in the planning and design of activities and events related to Black history. Black educators at all levels should be included and involved in Black History Month program plans. Black History Month programs and events need the input and involvement of Black educators to keep Black education as the centerpiece of any celebration of Black historic achievement and attainment.

Do Your Own Dream: Coffee & Chat with Rev Bruce Bonus Feature

Do Your Own Dream: Coffee & Chat with Rev Bruce Bonus Feature

This session originated as a video recording available exclusively on YouTube uploaded on 1-11-23. With MLK Day around the corner, I thought that I needed to add a bonus feature on doing your own dream. I want us to look beyond MLK and the "I Have a Dream" speech whirlwind that will sweep across our nation for a special day dedicated to a special man with a message that special for all of humanity.   Do your own dream.   It makes a world of sense when you listen to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.  It was his dream, not any other person’s dream.  It was his dream.     Too many people are chasing after other people’s dreams and purposes, never looking at themselves and their own pathway. Do your own dream.   #mlkday #mlk #dream

I'm not trying to fall into the category of "most people" these days. Most of my plans cover both personal and professional goals. One of  my overall goals for this year is to expand what I offer others, including providing more takeaways from each encounter. I want to offer something more inspiring with more practical implementation steps and plenty of fuel for taking initiative.
