The overarching story of scripture is “God among his people”. From Genesis to Revelation, God desires to dwell with us. But how can a holy God live with sinful people? How are Christians to live in light of this reality?

In our text today, we’ll see a stark contrast between 2 groups of people. This contrast will show the difference between religion and relationship (or said another way), between legalism and love.

At the end of the Feast of Booths, Jesus stood up and shouted out a powerful truth to the gathered crowd. This truth had to do with the Holy Spirit and His desired role in our lives. Do you have “rivers of living water” flowing through you?

During the Feast of Booths, thousands of Jews gathered in and around Jerusalem to celebrate God’s provision and protection of their ancestors after the Exodus. After Jesus miraculously fed over 10,000 people, many wanted to take Him by force and make them their king. Their idea of the kingdom at that time was totally off base. What is the kingdom all about? Which kingdom will you choose?

Jesus came to seek and save the lost. This mission is seen by Jesus’ compassionate pursuit of sinners, his invitation to repentance, and his affirming of a new identity!  Unfortunately, the crowd often gets in the way. While in a remote area, a massive crowd of over 10,000 people came to see Jesus. In all the excitement, He did something for them they would never forget and He taught His disciples some valuable lessons at the same time.

Because of who the Lord Jesus is, what He does in the present, and what He will do in the future, we should “Honor the Son”!   

The Day is coming when all who have died will hear the voice of the Risen Christ and come out of their graves. Some will rise to eternal judgment and some will rise to eternal life. Will you be among the former or the latter?

Jesus Christ performed many miracles to confirm His identity and authenticate His message. Anyone who could heal a young man from miles away and cause a person who had been crippled for 38 years to stand up and walk deserves our trust and adoration!

We are hardwired to dwell with the God of the universe! When we do this, we enjoy relationship with Him, we have courage to face life, and we experience His protection.

John 3:16 is clear, concise, and packed with meaning. It shows God’s heart of love toward the world and His offer of salvation for all mankind!

Christ knows all and sees all! Since He is omniscient, He knows exactly what is going on in our hearts. This divine attribute should draw us to the Lord in repentance, where we will find Him waiting with open arms.

Jesus and His disciples were invited to a wedding, where He celebrated the union of the groom and bride. As a token of His love and as a manifestation of His true identity, while there He performed His first miraculous sign, which astonished His followers!

Our God is a God of covenant.  Throughout history, He established covenant relationships with people like Abraham, Moses, and David... and we even sometimes identify Him as the "God of Abraham", or "God of Moses".  But who else is He the God of?  Who else has God offered a covenant relationship to?  Spoiler alert: Your name goes in the blank.

At the beginning of His ministry, Jesus began to call others to join Him in His mission. His simple call was, “Follow Me.” What does it mean to follow the Lord? Are you a lifelong follower of Christ?

Two millennia ago, a voice could be heard in the wilderness, heralding the coming of the Lamb of God. Not everyone would heed the voice, but those who did were pointed to One who could change their lives forever.

American culture is moving further and further away from God. Many Christians are responding with anger, hatred and contempt. Philippians 4:9 says "As for the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."  When we put the Bible's teaching into practice, the natural outcome is peace!

We need to be careful about what kinds of thoughts we allow to enter our minds.  Philippians 4:8 tells us, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."  If a thought doesn't match that description, it's our responsibility to turn that thought away!    Don't allow false, shameful, unjust, impure, ugly, slanderous, flawed, or dishonorable thoughts to steal your peace.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Jesus doesn't fit in our box.  But He does offer us freedom!

It's easy to fall into the belief that we need to "earn" our way to Heaven.  But the problem is... it just isn't true!  No matter how hard we try, we will never earn our way into fellowship with God.  The only way to Heaven is through faith in Jesus.  The gospel message is the only source of power that will bring us into right standing with God.  It's something we can't do on our own.

After His resurrection, Christ commanded His disciples to, “Go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to the whole creation”. This command was not just for the followers of Christ in the first century, but for the followers of Christ in every generation.

Early in the morning on the first day of the week, some women went to the tomb of Jesus to anoint His Body with spices. When they entered, they were alarmed to see a beautiful angel who had a shocking message for them. Jesus was alive!

At Calvary, God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God. What happened at Calvary is the greatest act of love in all of human history!

At Christmas we celebrate God's amazing love for us displayed in the Incarnation of Christ. Join us as we praise the One who is fully God and fully Man and lift up His Name through worship and the Word.

On the first “Palm Sunday” Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey in fulfillment of prophecy. As He drew near to the city, many spread branches on the road before Him and shouted “Hosanna” to welcome Him. The King had arrived and His people were filled with joy!

The disciples had the habit of competing against each other and vying for the highest position. Their attitude reflected what the world valued, but not what God valued. By His words and works, Jesus reflected what was important to God, the heart of a servant.

Christian community can be uncomfortable, but it is essential.

The grind of life is marked by difficulty and suffering. Through contentment, joy, and faithfulness we can persevere.

The disciples asked Jesus, “Who can be saved?” The Lord responded by giving them bad news and good news. Concerning the bad news He said, “With man it is impossible.” Concerning the good news He said, “But with God all things are possible.” God is good and He has provided a way for our salvation!

In Jesus’ day, some people chose not to give the covenant of marriage the respect it warranted. When the Lord was asked about His views concerning marriage, He had a lot to say. What do the Scriptures say about marriage, divorce, and remarriage? Discover more this weekend.

The Valley of Hinnom is located just southwest of the Old City of Jerusalem. In Bible times, this valley was used as a garbage dump, where the bodies of criminals, animal carcasses, and trash were continually burned. Jesus used the Valley of Hinnom (Gehenna) as an illustration of Hell and warned anyone who would listen to avoid that place at all costs.
