Painting Adventures with painter Barbara Pastorino
Welcome to the Behind the Art Inspiration Podcast, a sneak peek into the studio practices of all types of artists. Conversations for collectors who love to listen to the banter and creative process of international artists. I’m your host Caroline Karp. Let’s get to it.
This is season 4 episode number 2. In this episode, I’m Connecting with painter, Barbara Pastorino of Milan, Italy. I visited and collaborated with my dear friend Barbara over the summer in Varallo, Italy where we did a fantastic collaboration.
Listen as we talk about our adventures of painting in 3 famous locations… Finding the perfect spots to roll out our gigantic canvases and capture the scenery around us. We had a special permit and a guide take us to the top of the Monte Rosa - Thank you Antonio! When I’m with Barbara and her family, I feel like I am part of the family. I always have so much fun connecting with her and I hope you enjoy our energy.
Thank you so much for watching and listening as I share my love of fun, connection, collaboration and ART. It would be great if you subscribe!
Being a facilitator of conversation, I pose an open-ended question to each artist in true Caroline style. “Send me a one-sentence blurb about you and what you do as an artist.” Then the conversation just flows from there.

Katrin Bader is an intuitive abstract artist, certified Conscious Reader, teacher, mother, wish-maker at shooting stars, and believer in the good and the potential of everyone. All this and more is Katrin Bader, Austrian based in Spain. She creates bold, bright paintings, guided by her inner voice. Through her playful and vivid art, she shows us that a positive outlook on life always is the better choice. Empowered by having found her purpose with her intuitive art, she inspires and guides others to find lightness and joy in their lives.

“My hack is called "Hugo goes on holiday." It has to do with sending off that voice that stops you doing what your soul wants to do.
My paintings, my flowcards (original postcard sized paintings with a message), my work using Conscious Reading, The Creative Lifebook, all have to do with it. I have created my best work in commissions. While I love and somehow prefer to create freely, I have noticed that when I have the person getting the painting in my mind (or his/her energy) the results are amazing and the people really connect with THEIR painting.
Thanks for having me!”

Behind the Art Inspiration: Burning Man Artist Sylvia Lisse of Jackson, Wyoming
In season 2 episode number 12 of the Behind the Art Inspiration Podcast, I’m Connecting with Burning Man Artist Sylvia Adrienne Lisse of Jackson, Wyoming.
Sylvia is a multi-faceted artist with a passion to create interactive art with a healing purpose. From sewing tailored, fabric covers for large-scale metal sculptures, to designing and building temples at Burning Man, Sylvia creates art in a broad range of mediums. She works independently on a small scale, and often collaborates with artist groups as a crew member to sew, weld, paint and build whimsical, sizable, interactive art.
In 2004, Sylvia earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree at Northern Arizona University in Art History and Fine Art, however her integral experience has come from apprenticeships and working on team builds for art festivals such as Burning Man, Symbiosis, What The Festival and Burning Man regional events. When she's not building interactive art, Sylvia works contract assignments as a licensed travelling medical professional in the United States. Sylvia describes the materials that she gathered on the Island of Kauai to build the Temple she designed for a community build there. The picture that she paints with words of the temple is an artwork in itself and worth a listen to.

Max and I talked about the beautiful Na Pali coast and the luscious mountains there. Obviously, he is very inspired by his natural surroundings.
Max is a multi-disciplinary artist on Kaua’i, Hawaii. Originally from New Hampshire, Max attended The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; he focused on painting and printmaking. After art school, he traveled the country and the world, visiting Kaua’i for a stint in the process. While living in New Zealand, Max taught himself furniture making. He uses those fine woodworking skills to make his own frames and mixed media art. Max Returned to Kaua’i in 2010 and began painting again. After reviving his love for the surreal and abstract in his artwork, he also explored visionary art themes and realism. In 2013, he started a fine art printing company with a fellow artist. Max opened Infinite Arts Gallery in 2015 and soon after dove into the mountains of Hanalei and Na Pali Coast as a subject. He spends his time balancing his many passions and muses.

Behind the Art Inspiration: Mixed Media Artist Theresa Elliot in Georgetown DC
This is season 2 episode number 4 of the Behind the Art Inspiration Podcast. In this episode, I’m broadcasting from the historic Georgetown neighborhood in DC… where I’ve created a painting and podcasting studio. Today I’d like to introduce you to my friend artist Theresa Elliot… I learned about her artwork when I saw a gigantic piece of it in the home of a GU professor. There’s a story here that I’m sure we will talk about. Theresa was not always artistic… in fact, she began creating during her recovery from a severe concussion in 2018. After her injury, she possessed new creative abilities and created what she saw in her reoccurring vision disturbances.

“I am Renu, a mum of 2 beautiful children, I am married and live in Glasgow. I love to create the times I had growing up and embracing the Glaswegian elements with a twist. I am British Indian and sharing my culture, beliefs with my children and encouraging and teaching them about food, time, life, and values are really important to me. Behind the Art Inspiration podcast: Bangladeshis Photographer & NFT Artist Ashraful Arefin
In this episode, I’ll be virtually traveling from my Safety Harbor, Florida across the world to Bangladesh and into the studio of Fine Art Photographer and NFT artist Ashraful Arefin.
Ashraful works to capture beauty and emotion within his photographic frames by using magical elements and storytelling. By listening to the full episode you will learn about what cinematographic art is and how Ash builds his scene, photographs it and digitally creates magnificent magic with his work.
As in recent pods with other artists, the conversation steers its focus to the world of NFTs, clubhouse and Discord. I describe Ashraful's work as enchanting perfectionism and he certainly led me to that name. He is so inspired by the magic in Harry Potter... I mean who isn't??? He captures the essence of fairy pixie dust in his works.
