"Lead With Action: An Impactful Discussion On Closing the Cervical Cancer Disparity Gap" with Kimberly Williams and Julia Neely
"Lead With Action: An Impactful Discussion On Closing the Cervical Cancer Disparity Gap" with Kimberly Williams and Julia Neely
Black women have higher rates of new cervical cancer cases as opposed to other races and ethnicities. With February being Black History Month, we wanted to discuss health disparities amongst black communities and the possible influencing factors. One way to close the gap in the fight against cervical cancer is to make sure our stories are heard. We must continue to talk about HPV, cervical cancer screening and prevention including vaccination, and the stories of those impacted by cervical cancer. Whether through casual conversations with friends or family, questions to our doctors, or quick chats with our children, each conversation can lead to change.
Don’t miss this conversation between Cervivor Podcast host, Joslyn Paguio and her two guests, Kimberly Williams, a cervical cancer survivor and patient advocate for Cervivor, Inc., and Julia Neely, Program Manager for the HPV Cancer Prevention Program through St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to learn more about and to understand these disparities.

CCAM Mindful Minute: The Cozy Castle
CCAM Mindful Minute: The Cozy Castle
January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month and the Cervivor Community is reminding you, that it’s time to put yourself first!
It’s time to make those screening and vaccination appointments, to put your mental and emotional health first, and to maintain and cultivate relationships with friends, family, and ourselves. It’s time to take care of you in 2022!
Join us for a Mindful Minute:
In guided imagery, you intentionally think of a peaceful place or scenario. The goal is to promote a calm state through relaxation and mindfulness. The idea is that your body reacts to your own thoughts.
For example, when you think about a stressful situation, your body and mind become tense. Your heart rate and blood pressure might increase, and you may feel jittery and unfocused. But if you focus your attention on pleasant scenarios, your mind and body tend to relax. You may feel less tightness and tension in your muscles, while your mind might feel calmer and more at ease.
By calming your mind and body, you may be better able to cope with mental, emotional, and physical stress - you build up resilience. Take a moment to sink into this #MindfulMinute read by Psychotherapist and cervical cancer survivor, Jessica M.
