Hannah Dasher - Thank God I Got Fired

Hannah Dasher - Thank God I Got Fired

Hannah Dasher is a unique talent, and her recent Half Record is a too-short vehicle for her estimable gifts. Her sense of humor and grace makes the songs spirited and elegant. And her gregarious and winning persona makes her an appealing and entertaining artist.  - “Pop Matters” Hannah Dasher isn’t simply an up-and-coming country singer; she’s also an entertainer. Like country greats Dolly, Reba, and Wynonna, Dasher has cultivated a charming and witty musical persona that looks to country music history. The big hair, the bell-bottomed jumpsuits, the cool swagger. Dasher is no stranger to The Hustle and the world of change. Man, ‘change’ is her middle name and ride that wave, she does. Dasher’s journey to success has been a long, tough 11 year climb. Not short of deep passion, history, disappointments and smiles. She grew up a child of ‘90s country, even calling herself the youngest member of the Alan Jackson fan club. “I hated to read as a kid so instead of reading storybooks, I would read album covers front to back, who the producers were, songwriters, and of course the lyrics,” she explained. “Alan Jackson’s lyrics really spoke to me because he was from Georgia like me, and he talked like I did, so conversational, I thought he was a badass.” After college, Dasher moved to Music City (Nashville, USA) and couldn’t make a living with her music business degree so she took a job at Bass Pro Shop which happened to be in the same parking lot as the Grand Ole Opry. “I lived in an attic on Belmont Blvd and slept on a mattress on the floor, ate bologna sandwiches and peanut butter jelly everyday. Her honesty about the hard road to “making it” in the music industry is refreshing and her determination is evident. She got fired from her day job for writing songs on the job but it turns out, one of those songs ended up being her first cut as a songwriter, a song for Brad Paisley called “Go To Bed Early”. And she tells the Change Cultivators how she is ‘so thankful she got fired’. Success looks wonderful when you have arrived. But what many fail to realise is the road it took to get there. Have a listen to how this fiery, self motivated powerhouse woke herself up every morning to say ‘Let's do this. Good, bad and pandemics. And let's make it count!’

In this episode, we speak with entrepreneur and change maker, Neil Patel. Neil has a long history in tech startups and candidly speaks with Change Cultivators about the highs and lows of being an entrepreneur - what he has learned over decades of leadership and how he is constantly learning and growing - from his failures and successes. With his new brand launch (Kabuni) looming in Q4 of 2021 - Neil talks to us about how the world is rapidly shifting from 2D to 3D and how the mixed reality immersive metaverse is going to yet again (like the Internet) change the world forever. He shares with us his vision to ‘Unlock The Design Potential In Every Human Being’ and how staying razor-sharp to your ‘why’ as a business is what makes companies successful and agile enough to move through the constant change we are living in. A humble account from an entrepreneur that we feel is one to watch in the category-creating space of a brand in the world of mixed reality.

The Comeback Story - Stephanie Stuckey

The Comeback Story - Stephanie Stuckey

Stephanie has gone from Miss Georgia Cherry Blossom to three decades of working as an attorney, state legislature and eventually Chief Resilience Officer of the City of Atlanta before taking over the Stuckey’s family business as CEO in November of 2019. She. She knew she had a fixer-upper on her hands. Since then, Stephanie has been learning from businesses that have managed to reinvent themselves after suffering a downfall and takes the time to share with us her experience and insights along her comeback journey. Stuckey’s was founded Stpehanie’s grandfather as a roadside pecan stand in Eastman, GA, in the midst of the Great Depression. From these humble origins, he built a veritable roadside oasis of stores that were famous for pecan log rolls and kitschy souvenirs. At their peak, Stuckey’s included almost 370 stores nationwide, a candy plant, a billboard company, and a trucking operation. They reached the pinnacle when family vacations meant taking to the open road in a station wagon and stopping at fun attractions like South of the Border, Wig Wam Motels, and Stuckey’s. Fast forward 35 years … Stuckey’s is still on America’s highways, albeit fewer stores (and many in need of some TLC). It’s back in family hands and on a comeback journey.
