Ezra 6:21-22
CONTEXT A transformed heart seeks the mind and fulfills the will of God, like Jesus, as the Holy Spirit leads.
We all need our heart transformed by God because His way, is the only right way to true love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Also we can’t win against sin, Christ alone has conquered sin & death, we must be in Christ to be more than conquerors.
Here we see God doing what only He can do but we all need, a transforming a heart.
Here we see and learn the evidence of a heart transformed is driven to fulfill the will and mind of God.
How can we know when a person’s (your) heart is changed by God?
You will want to do ALL of God’s will.

CONTEXT We are purified by God to show those around us the glorious Jesus Christ.
How do people know that their motives and action are pure?
Purify themselves in preparation of Passover from sin, ungodly intentions, draw their gaze and focus of deeds toward the mind and will of God.
Part of our response to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. To love other Christians till the end of life and help share the biblical truth in brotherly love with those who are not yet a part of the family of God.
As Christians, how can we know our motives and actions are pure?
We first deal with our sin with God then we gladly submit to follow Christ in each moment by the Holy Spirit’s leading.

At the dedication (devotion, commitment) they dealt with sin, celebrated God delivering them and putting people in place to serve so others can draw close to God.
Before we become Christian we are dead in our trespasses / sin, by grace through faith in Jesus we can be saved from death.
Dedication is to God and away from sin that has been forgiven so others may be served to do the same.
Biblical deeds that honor God are the evidence, fruit, of devotion to God.

Scripture Background…In the midst of opposition to God they spoke the word of Life, that we know as the Gospel, Bible.
Presented with the hardships of our faith we must remember that God, Jesus the Christ and the Holy Spirit will not ever be overthrown!
It is good advice for us to never be found opposing God’s will to biblically seek, save and mature us all.

CONTEXT Each day, there will be a way, to sacrifice in a God honoring way.
Now that we do it the goal is without fail.
In this verse we have the thankful grateful acknowledgment which the apostle makes of the kindness of the Philippians in sending him a present for his support, now that he was a prisoner at Rome. – M. Henry
Sacrifices are fragrant in offering, acceptable and pleasing because through faith it advances the will of God in lives.
It is going to cost you something for the good of the kingdom of God and you may not immediately benefit.

CONTEXT To live for God is to be ready for every good work He has for us.

We see in v5 the importance vessels have to play in the worship of God, they bring a fulfilling purpose to others.
2 Timothy 2:21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
God has made it so everyone can be an anyone set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house Jesus Christ.
They simply need to be brought back to God, returned and a part of the house of God, the body of Christ.

CONTEXT: Jesus is Lord and savior, He is worthy of your full devotion daily.
Jesus is sin free, passed every test, trial and temptation.

Why is it such a big deal for the average person that Jesus committed no sin?
Shows His perfection, ability to relate to us, ability to help us
overcome temptation and sin.
Jesus turned the other cheek for God's glory and the good of others.
Jesus suffered well by trusting that God would act justly in judgment.
No attack on those vilifying Him.
Jesus dying on the cross empathizes with our sin. (v21, Matt.26:38)
Matthew 26:38 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch[a] with me.”
Jesus alone makes it possible for us to die to sin and live acceptable before God because of His life, death and resurrection.
Jesus is our provider, protector (Shepherd) and authority (Overseer) in all matters Matt. 28:19
When we stray, backslide, fall away, walk away from Jesus what should our immediate response be?
Stop straying and return to Jesus.

To endure suffering for doing good is a gracious thing in the sight of God.
Since there is no escaping suffering this side of Heaven. How does God want us to respond when we suffer for doing good?
Just like Jesus, with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control
We are called in our suffering to endure and follow in the steps of Jesus.
SALVATION: Jesus Christ lived a perfect, sin free life, He suffered, so that we might be saved by grace through faith from the wages of our sin which is death.
Jesus Christ is the example of our response to suffering. LIKE HIM.
Jesus Christ is the focus of our faith when we do good. IN HIS NAME.
Jesus Christ is the destination when we do good. CLOSER TO HIM.

ONE THING: The awe of God leads us from immaturity to maturity as a disciple Jesus.

CONTEXT: Jesus graciously brought salvation for all people. PRAISE HIM!!
Soon He will return again to bring justice, to right all wrongs.
What does a maturing disciple train themselves to do?
Renounce the bad, live godly lives and be zealous for good works.
What does God want us to remember when we mature disciples?
Be obvious, invite, implore, course correct others, don't give up.

Worship: Train to be a mature disciple. During times of private devotions daily with God focus on your level of awe of Him.

Service: Love God out loud. Live self-controlled, upright, godly lives so that others can experience being in awe of God's goodness.
Multiplication: Invite others to implore with you. As much as possible live for God's glory and make disciples alongside other Christians.

ONE THING: People will know that we are a disciple of Jesus if we love one another. John 13:35

The contagious characteristics of a maturing Christian man. It's better than better homes and neighborhoods, though that is a byproduct.
The inspiring actions of a maturing Christian woman. These qualities in the hands of God literally make it easier for people to get to and become like Jesus.
The Word of God, the Bible, is central to helping others through relationship to become like Jesus.
God can use our humble and generous actions to literally rewrite what a person thinks, says and how they respond to God.
A Disciple acting biblically can lead a lot of people to God who can undo a lot of hurts, habits and hang-ups.
Young women strive to be like Christ following mature women.
Be where they are more than where they are not.
Young men strive to be like Christ following mature men.
Be where they are more than where they are not.
One of the hardest things you will do is serve others but it is always better when we live for the Lord.
SO THAT in everything you may be a model of Gospel-centered Christlikeness.
REMEMBER: Everybody answers to someone and everybody will answer someday to the One, God.
How can we start the mentoring process?
Look around and see who you are already in a relationship with, start with salvation then move forward to becoming more like Christ.

Service: Mentor Disciples. Do what is best for them to draw closer to God by using your faith and deeds.
Multiplication: Make Disciples. Give others the opportunity to become a Christian. Then help them to become more like Christ.

First and Foremost: God Gets The Credit
ONE THING: Acknowledge Jesus before men, Jesus acknowledges you before the Father. Deny Jesus before men, Jesus denies you before the Father in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33

God getting the credit for what He has done... stirs the heart affections toward Jesus while drawing people closer to God through the Holy Spirit.
CONTEXT A person who has yet to love God has a better chance of loving Him when we acknowledge Him.
A person who loves God will acknowledge His good work.
WHEN WITH GOD, HE GETS THE CREDIT
Need to see life from a heart, mind, soul and strength tuned to God.
Salvation, Bible Study, Prayer, Tithing, Praise are great places to start.
Why is it more helpful to identify the specific need, want or desire of a person than to just respond with a general Christian response? Daniel 2:19-23
The more specific you are with your requests the easier it will be for you to give God credit once that request is met.
Deep love resides in the details of a relationship.
The bonds of an experience shared and credit where credit is due strengthens any relationship.

There is a point to what they have, are and will face.
How can we know when and where to give God credit?
Trust the Holy Spirit to lead you through the fear and uncertainty of giving God the credit because it is for everyone’s best if you share how God is good.
Why is it so harmful to not give God credit for the things He has done?
We are not spreading His glory across the community and making disciples.
The credit we give God should guide everyone by the Holy Spirit, passed the empty cross and tomb ending up at God’s throne. How they respond is up to them.

ONE THING: God loves a cheerful giver and a cheerful (HILAROS) giver loves God. 2 Corinthians 9:7

Tithe is a grateful response to a generous God from the first fruits of everything in order to show love to God and others.
CONTEXT: A tithe / tenth – a floor to stand on not a ceiling to reach. The Offering is the above and beyond ceiling to break through.
WHY YOU GIVE
We don't tithe to earn God's love. We tithe because we already have God's love. It is a celebration of gratitude for the love He has shown us.
Rejoice in all the good that the Lord your God has given to you and to your house, others near you, and the Levite, and the sojourner who is among you.
Why do we give God a Tithe / tenth of all He has given us?
Because of our LOVING obedience to what God has commanded us so others will be saved and become like Christ.
WHEN YOU GIVE
God uses real world giving to generate eternal spiritual blessings and benefits.
You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.
What does God hope for us when we Tithe?
That we would do it faithfully and joyfully.

Worship: Tithe to your local church. Tithe your time. Tithe your talents. Tithe your treasures. A tenth given in person, online, through text.
Community: Publicly praise God for the 90. Give thanks to God in front of others for His many blessings. Sow bountifully and thankfully.
Service: Make room in your life to Tithe. First priority with your finances and all things for that matter is God. Never take from God and to meet a need or desire. Trust God to meet that need or desire.
Multiplication: Make a way for others to Tithe. Invite them to join you at the church you call home so they can then tithe their time, talents and treasures.

First and Foremost: Prayer
ONE THING: Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Colossians 4:2

Prayer is giving God praise and credit for the great things He has done along with lovingly sharing everything with the One who can do anything.
CONTEXT: Humbly seek God, turn from bad ways, God hears and forgives and heals. A huge sigh of relief, restoration and revitalization.

Service: Pray for others. J.O.Y. Jesus. Others Yourself. Your heart’s desires but ultimately for God’s will to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Multiplication: Ask others to pray. Anyone can pray and everybody should. It’s a good way to get better at it.

First and Foremost: Bible Study
ONE THING: The Bible was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4

Multiplication: Invite others to join you in thanking God for the great things he has done. It could be a moment around the dinner table or a longer conversation at work but nonetheless invite them to join you and praising God.

Advent Love
ONE THING: God sent Jesus to save, not condemn you or the world.

CONTEXT: Jesus is real, He is alive and you have already responded to this truth.
Why God gave His Son = love and eternal life, Emmanuel God with us.
It is important as a Christian to remember we are loved by God and He set us free.
SALVATION: Believe in Jesus and not perish and have eternal life. Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10, 1 Cor.15:3-4
What does God want us to do with the free gift of salvation Jesus makes possible?
It’s so simple, receive the gift, open the gift, enjoy the gift of saved by grace through faith.
What is actually the condemner of our life right now?
Sin of not believing in Jesus, only son of God.
So how do we move from someone who loves darkness to someone who loves light?
Have faith and deeds that are good. That bring God praise and credit and draw people closer to God.
Worship: A Living Sacrifice
Romans 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Community: We must take every opportunity to help people move closer to becoming a Christian. Because they choose to not believe in Jesus they stand condemned. Be as Christlike as possible in word, thought and deed.
Service: The way you sacrificially and generously love others helps their soul, which has become accustomed to the darkness, adjust to the light of Jesus' love and salvation.
Multiplication: Shoulder tap others to join you in becoming more like Jesus. Invite them to your home, coffee, your home church, Bible Discussion group, for a walk or just hangout. Weave in the God's love through Jesus as you journey together.

How can a person be set free from any prisons caused by sin?

God is the best place for your hope to rest, because God always keeps His promises.

Perfect, sacrificial, Messiah = He paid the price for our redemption by His precious blood.

One Lord

ONE THING: Hold on to faith in Jesus and hope grows.

Hope resides in the heart, supported by faith in the God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.
Can’t be taken from you, can give it away as so many precious treasures of God.

One Spirit
ONE THING: The Holy Spirit is vital to living a fulfilling Christian life together.
Ephesians 4:4-6, 1:13, Ezekiel 36:26-27
God will give us a new heart, His Holy Spirit will dwell in us, He will remove our heart that will lead us to death and replace it through the Holy Spirit with a heart that lives out loud eternal life.
We walk in the statutes of God.
We study to model the teachings of God.
We carefully obey God's rules.
We model to demonstrate the truth of God.

One Body
ONE THING: As a Christian you will find more wholeness living as a part of the body of Christ.
Ephesians 4:4-6, 15-16
To get where Jesus Christ wants us to go we are best off doing it together, it's what He wants.
It is good and pleasing to God when the body is together and acts together.
Your fulfillment comes when you take all your time, talents, treasures to bring God glory and make disciples.
Let Jesus Christ be the one to dictate what gets done. His will be done.
You = trust and obey = like milk, it does a body good.
Align yourself with Jesus more and more each day.
Work out your salvation Christian to become like Jesus Christ.
Study your Bible with God and others.
Pray to God with others.
COMMIT YOURSELF ENTIRELY TO
Serve God with others.
JESUS CHRIST.
Fail and succeed for God.
Worship deeply, Community well, Serve God and others, Multiply God's best everywhere.

Step Forward To Gather
ONE THING: The invitation must be indication of the destination, God.
Psalm 66:5
Come and see God cut through the hardship of life.
Come and see a God that if He is for us who can be against us?
Awesome = God at work in noticeable and discernible ways in, through and around us.
Love enduring, joy everlasting, peace producing, patience when needed, kindness delivered, goodness shared, faithfulness demonstrated, gentleness revealed, self-control achieved

Step Forward Together
ONE THING: God’s way is the best for all.
Ephesians 4:1-7
Live out a God honoring, Christ following example.
You won’t feel like, want to, naturally be able to act this way on your own, that is the point.
You need a / have a saved relationship with Jesus and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit to demonstrate them.

Step Forward Not Backward

Peter was at work and threw himself to be fulfilled by Jesus.
Peter was among friends and threw himself toward Jesus as an example to others.
Peter was drifting away from Jesus and threw himself be reconciled to Jesus.
Where does the assurance come from? Confession of faith and public action.
Feed my lambs = Keep exampling (faith & deeds) Christ likeness to the young Christians, with no faith.
Tend my sheep = Give grace and justice to Christians.
Feed my sheep = Keep exampling (faith & deeds) Christ likeness to the mature Christians.
When it comes to the Gospel-Centered life it is always love Jesus first, action next.

Gospel-Centered Salvation
ONE THING: In God's hands your past can propel you to an incredible present.
John 20:19-23, 27-29, 31
Jesus' grace and justice bring out God's best in our life. It isn't always easy, what truly good things are, but it is always better serving Jesus than anyone or thing else.
We have all had some major missteps/bad decisions. Jesus can redeem and rewrite those results. Our failures through salvation become his victories that brings God glory and others closer to God.
Jesus can overcome any roadblock in our life. So that we can freely live out His created purpose for our life.
The obstacle before you is not greater than the object of your salvation, Jesus Christ.
For your good and God’s glory.
People who know better than others because experts, we trust them, the lien them, follow their lead. No one knows better thank God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Trust and obey them there is no better way.
Jesus knows that first you believe in Him then have life in Him in this tough, cruel, challenging, world that also has joy in it as well.

Gospel-Centered Sacrifice
ONE THING: Give all your heart, mind, soul, strength, time, talents and treasures to Jesus and the fulfillment of God's will.
John 19:16-18, 30, 33-35
At WORK show your co-workers where you stand biblically.
In WORSHIP so that it is about God's glory.
At HOME making the hard transforming decision that no matter who comes through that door you will lead them closer to Jesus.
At PLAY enjoy all the fullness of life within the guardrails of the Bible.
Though our faith in God is personal it is not always private. An always private faith can easily become a secret faith that no one knows about at all.
Christian faith thrives in community that seeks to give God glory and draw others closer to Christ no matter the cost.
Your created purpose, foundational calling, is to live in such an influential way, that others may also believe.
Your biblical actions are undeniable evidence that God is real, He loves others and you love both.

Gospel-Centered Relationships
ONE THING: Your relationships, regardless of status, should seek to bring Jesus glory (name & renown) and help others to believe in Him.
John 2:1-12
The servants here had decided in their heart to do what Jesus tells them to do. That is the beautiful freedom in being a servant in a relationship.
Your goal isn't what is best for you but what is God's best for everyone!
If the invitation to Jesus is "Come and See" then the expectation of all our relationships should always be "Faith and Deeds".

Gospel-Centered Wisdom
ONE THING: The Holy Spirit of Truth is your great Helper.
John 14:15 - 17, 26 - 27
Where do we start in gaining wisdom? Love God. Become more and more like Jesus.
The outcomes of life and relationships will never be God's best when we act outside the Helper's, Counselor's, Comforter's, Advocate's, Holy Spirit's direction.
We will know when to do the right thing because of a close relationship with the Holy Spirit.
