Talking about pride today, and its destructive nature when it takes hold of mankind.

Will God Do as He Promised?

Marriage, Who Defines It?!
Today Pastor Rudy talks about marriage, the sacred union between Male and Female, and the corruption of this union today. We live in a world where good is evil and evil good, with the things of God being held as cheap and outdated while the carnal and primitive passions of the flesh are held up as "progressive" and "fashionable". Rudy also talks about a move simply titled 1946 that shows its ignorance by mistranslating and anachronizing the Biblical text to promote the LGBT agenda as it runs over traditional Christian values.
We invite you to join in the worship of the true God of scripture today and come before Him this afternoon.

"Our Father!"
We're talking about father figures today; Godly men in our lives who represent Biblical masculinity. The men who teach boys to be real men, and to respect the role and responsibility that is fatherhood. Today's message is titled "Our Father!", but we are talking about all fathers.
Men should be the heads of their households; the leaders of their family, subject to God. In today's society, this is not a palatable idea in today's society. Men need to be men!

"Communion!" /w special guest Matt Slick
Good afternoon! Today we had a special guest attend and give the message today on Communion, Matt Slick from Truth Radio and Christian Apologetics Research Ministries (CARM). Matt breaks down the importance of communion, the significance of the nature of God and the tokens of communion which represent these Godly attributes. This one's a good one! We invite you to listen to our fellow brother in Christ as he breaks down these ever important symbols of faith and forgiveness given to us by One who did not sin.
You can find more of Matt Slick at www.carm.org and live on Truth Radio.

Egypt in the Crosshairs!
Over the course of mankind's history on this Earth, there have been many gods and deities. Despite this, there is only one true God, the sovereign Lord of the universe, the Maker and Creator of all things. God does as He pleases, and we are made to witness that fact. Come join us today as we compare the idols of man to the true God of scripture, the Risen Lord Jesus Christ.

In Whom Will You Trust?
Next week we'll be having church at the park! This week however, Pastor Rudy gives us a message on trust. Who will you put your trust in? The fallible arm of man, or the perfect and holy arm of God?

Open Minds? He is Risen!
"He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God."
Good afternoon! Today Pastor Rudy continues his message titled "He is risen!". Today we talk about the will of God and the minds of men, and how God can pierce even the most muddied mind in order to draw them to Him. The things of God are foolishness to the unrepentant sinner, but in spite of this, God paid the price for those that are His, to save them according to His good graces. Only God can open up our minds to His majesty and glory.

He is Risen!

Triumphal Entry - What it Signifies!

Before Triumph - Unbelief!

Compromise Leads Astray!
Good afternoon! Resurrection Sunday is around the corner, and now it seems like more and more notable and prominent Christians around the world are finding "peace" in compromise with the world and those within it who do not know God. This compromise is dangerous, as Christians forget God's standards and accept something lesser and inferior to the true love and grace of God. As Pastor Rudy explains today in his message, compromise leads men astray and into the wickedness of the world.

Destruction and a Glimmer of Hope!
Happy communion Sunday! Today Pastor Rudy shares his message titled "Destruction and a Glimmer of Hope!". We live in a strange world where pastors and ministers are imprisoned for the singular crime of coming together for the worship of God. Despite the persecution and the attacks against those that would be faithful to God, God will cause it all to cease. God is the Supreme Creator, the Sovereign God of Heaven and Earth, and does away with things according to the counsel of His own will.

God Judges Moab!
Good afternoon! Rudy concludes the month of February by talking about some current events, like the "equality act" and the acceptance of sin as good. Sounds like we repeat ourselves, but unfortunately it's important to drive home the importance of worshipping good as Godly and evil as ungodly.
God Bless!

When the Mighty are Cast Down! - Part 4
Good afternoon! Pastor Rudy concludes his month long series titled, “When the Mighty are Cast Down!” God bless and happy Sunday!

When the Mighty are Cast Down! - Part 3
Good afternoon! Pastor Rudy continues his message once more, titled "When the Mighty are Cast Down!" God still, regardless of the world's attempts, is the one in control. Nothing can change that, and man should seek not to try to change God.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! God bless!

When the Mighty are Cast Down! - Part 2
Good afternoon! Pastor Rudy returns to us this weekend to start February off with a continuation of his message from a couple weeks back, titled "When the Mighty are Cast Down!"
Rest in peace, Steve. You're free to worship Almighty God forever and ever, amen!

Deceit!
Welcome! Today our pastor took his occasional sabbatical, so to fill in we had our beloved deacon Chris Bentley deliver the message. He spoke about deceit, referencing primarily out of the book of Jeremiah. Chris brings a unique perspective to our small body with his extensive history in theater, which helped him shed some light on some of his personal struggles & growth as a born-again believer in Christ. As always, God bless!

When the Mighty are Cast Down!
Good afternoon! Our first sermon after the changing of the presidential guard so to speak. This Sunday, we talked about the plans of the mighty and the power of God to bring them low, much like the infamous vessel "The Titanic", who's hull was to be impenetrable and impervious to even God, only to be brought low by a chunk of ice, floating on the waves. Such are the plans of those who attempt to subvert God's perfect and immutable will. God bless!

The Instrument of Judgment to be Judged! - Part 2
Good afternoon! Today Rudy continued his sermon from last week on judgement. This week we looked into the different judgments within the Old Testament, including those of Sodom and Gomorrah in the book of Genesis. Gonna be a difficult one today!
www.cityonahillut.org

The Instrument of Judgment to be Judged!
What a week it's been! Today, pastor Rudy gave a message on the judgement of the nation and reminded us all of the sovereign nature and status of God. We may feel like things are quickly spiralling out of control, but God is King, and nothing happens without His perfect and immutable decree. God is in control, and we need to remain vigilant and faithful through the tribulation.

Our Immutable God!
Pastor Rudy delivered a message this week titled "Our Immutable God!

Jesus, Light of the World!
Merry Christmas!! We’ve entered the final week of this Advent season, and our very own Pastor Rudy has decided to give a name to the candle, ‘Light!’. He also incorporated the naming with his sermon titled "Jesus, Light of the World!”
Additionally, we are holding our annual Christmas Eve service on Thursday evening at 7:00pm. Come if you’re able, invite friends and family, and just be blessed–if y’all have the time.
Regardless, we here at Calvary City on a Hill wish you a very Merry Christmas! God Bless!

He Shall be Called...
Today we are in Isaiah chapter 9 verses 1-7. Isaiah prophesies of the coming of Jesus’ birth; “For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name with be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). Because of this great event, the birth of Christ, we can be reconciled with God and fellowship with Him because 33 years later, He will take on our sin and the wrath that we rightly deserve and sinful creatures. ‘Tis the season to be joyous because of the mercy and grace we have been blessed with through Jesus Christ!

In that Day... Salvation!
Merry Christmas!! For this second week of Advent, the candle was aptly named ‘Forgiveness’, which additionally tied in by the grace of God with Pastor Rudy’s message titled “In that Day… Salvation!” For without forgiveness, there is no salvation. Come listen, and remember: Jesus is THE reason for this season.
God bless you all!

First Day of Advent!
Good afternoon! Today was the fifth Sunday of the month, which means Elder Kerry gave the message today during our service! Kerry talked about the Branch of Jesse, and the coming of the Lord, the most joyous event in all of history!

Thankfulness Past, Present, and Future!
The seasons are changing, Thanksgiving is on the horizon and Advent is right around the corner! This particularly chilly Sunday Pastor Rudy gives a message on being thankful towards the One who Saves, Jesus Christ! This week's message is called "Thankfulness Past, Present, Future!"

The Kingdom of the Saving Branch!
Good afternoon! This week Pastor Rudy continues in Isaiah, with a message titled "The Kingdom of the Saving Branch!" With COVID flaring back up and public unrest becoming more and more prevalent, it is important to understand and know who truly is in control. Christ is King!

The Branch that Saves!
Good afternoon! This week Pastor Rudy continues in Isaiah, with a message titled "The Branch that Saves!"

Communion!
Welcome to the month of November! Hard to believe another year is already so close to being over, especially one as wild as this has been.
Pastor Rudy kicks off this Communion Sunday back in Isaiah, taking a glimpse at the Holiness of God, and the wonder of who He is. We dug in all over the Old Testament, and even a number of places in the New Testament. We once again proclaim His death, with the HOPEFUL expectation of His eventual & glorious return, as Jesus instructed us to do each time we hold Communion.
Give the message a listen if you’d like a little reminder of the hope we have in Christ. God bless!

Reformation Day!
This month is Reformation Month, where we talk about the life of Martin Luther and his participation in the Reformation. The central focus of the Reformation is the doctrine of justification and salvation and how we are justified and saved by faith alone, through Christ alone. There is nothing that we can do in and of ourselves to attain salvation. Only through the blood of Christ can we be saved and once we are saved, we can never be snatched from His hand (John 10:22-30). Happy Reformation Month and God Bless!

The Saving Branch!
Good morning! We begin with Isaiah 11 this week, in a message titled “The Saving Branch!”

Faithful Promises in Tribulation!
God is the only one that is good - good that we cannot understand because of our fallen nature and the Holiness and Righteousness that is God. In Isaiah 10, God's wrath continues towards His people, both faithful and unfaithful, but it will not continue forever and a remnant will return (Isaiah 10:20-23). In our depraved and fallen state, since the fall of Adam, we have hated God. It is in our nature to hate that which is good, yet in God's perfect goodness and grace, He still saves those whom He has chosen to be His and those whom He has called. Though there may be suffering, even towards His own, God is in control and all will be justified according to His will.

Sowing & Reaping!
The people in power are robbing people's rights that are God-given in Isaiah chapter 10. Because of their wickedness, the people will face God's wrath, and His hand will stay stretched out against them. "Woe to those who enact evil statutes And to those who constantly record unjust decisions, so as to deprive the needy of justice and rob the poor of My people of their rights, so that widows may be their spoil and that they may plunder the orphans." (Isaiah 10:1-2). God is rightfully and justly angry towards His people, who have refined everything to fit into their own image. God, however, will not be mocked and man will reap what they sow.

His Government!
Join us today as Pastor Rudy preaches on conspiracies, or the lack thereof, in Isaiah! We are told to not walk in the ways of the people of the world. The media has created fear and a sense of hopefulness among us. The coronavirus has become the focal point of conversation and the drive of our decisions. Many say this is all a conspiracy, but this fear that has been evoked from us is real. There is an irrational fear of this virus and is seeping into the body of the Church. This same idea plagued the people in Isaiah as they fear their own destruction by the hand of the Assyrians. Isaiah tells them though, in Isaiah 8:12-13:
“You are not to say, ‘It is a conspiracy!’ In regard to all that these people call a conspiracy, And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it. It is the Lord of hosts whom you should regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, And He shall be your dread."
Trust in the Lord and turn to Him; let Him be your sanctuary so that no matter what comes, you have nothing to fear, for God is with you.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Our system had a small hiccup towards the end of the sermon. We apologize for any inconvenience!

The Light that Shines in the Darkness!
God's people have rebelled against Him and have chosen their ways over God's. God gives us hope though, in Isaiah chapter 9, as Isaiah reminds us of the mercy God had towards Zebulun and Naphtali, two lands that He had once shown contempt. Isaiah also prophesies of Christ's birth in verse 6, which reads: "For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." Take upon you God's yoke, because it is easy and light! Give Him your worries and trust in Him. Come to Him and His light will light your path.

Not a Conspiracy!
Join us today as Pastor Rudy preaches on conspiracies, or the lack thereof, in Isaiah! We are told to not walk in the ways of the people of the world. The media has created a sense of fear and hopefulness among us.
The coronavirus has become the focal point of conversation and the driving force behind our decision-making on an international level.
Many say this is all a conspiracy, but the fear that has been evoked IS real. It is an irrational fear, and it’s seeping into the body of the Church. This same kind of idea plagued the people in Isaiah, as they feared their destruction at the hand of the Assyrians.
And He shall be your fear, And He shall be your dread.”
Trust in the Lord and turn to Him; let Him be your sanctuary so that no matter what comes, you have nothing to fear, for God is with you.

Obedience!
Join us today as Elder Kerry preaches on following the law! As believers, we are commanded to “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s” (Mark 12:17), respecting those who have authority and abiding by the laws that have been set. We are also to obey God’s law, which is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27).
Our land has been established on God’s law and continues to be lead by His law, despite the corruption of man. As Christians, our choices and actions should reflect the law of God that has been consigned to our hearts and respect the law of the land

To be Amongst His People!
Join us today as Pastor Rudy continues in Isaiah chapter 8, preaching on those who have gone against Him and His remnant. God enables us to understand His Word and those who are not His cannot understand it. Those who are His will take claim to His name and will not give in to the sinful ways of men, even with the dealings of the law. The people in Isaiah chapter 8, however, have gone with the king, who rules against God. A warning is given through Isaiah by God saying, “Swift is the booty, speedy is the prey. And I will take to Myself faithful witnesses for testimony, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.” (Isaiah 8:2-3). God warns the people that once the child Maher-shalal-hash-baz (which means: “Swift is the booty, speedy is the prey”) is born and can speak, Damascus and Samaria will be taken away by the waters of Shiloah because of their wickedness. God loves His people and He is with those who are His; He is Emmanuel, “God with us”, and He will take claim to what is His.

Immanuel, God With Us!
Good afternoon! We’d like to apologize for our lack of a proper stream today, our tech crew was short-staffed & we were unable to get our 100% before we began. No worries, though, because we still have the recording!

The Cost of Turning from God!
Join us today as Pastor Rudy reads in Isaiah chapter 7 of God's warning to the wicked and rebellious King Ahaz of the war against Jerusalem by King Rezin. By God's will, King Rezin is unsuccessful in his conquest.
God sends Isaiah to King Ahaz to give him a message saying to, "Take care and be calm, have no fear and do not be fainthearted because of these two stubs of smoldering firebrands, on account of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and the som of Remaliah...thus says the Lord God: "It shall not stand nor shall it come to pass..." (Isaiah 7:4-7).
Although King Ahaz is rebelling against God, because of God's will and promise to continue the lineage of David, he has spared King Ahaz and his people. God ends with a warning though: "If you will not believe, you surely shall not last" (Isaiah 7:9) and He will ensure that a remnant will return.

Undone!
Join us today as Pastor Rudy continues on in Isaiah chapter 6 with Isaiah’s vision of God. Isaiah confesses his uncleanliness and ruin because of his fallen and sinful nature. He is undone being in the presence of God’s perfect and holy nature.
But God takes away his iniquity in all of His goodness, “Behold, this [coal] has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your fin is forgiven” (Isaiah 6:7). God will reign in all of His glory and send messengers to testify of Him and spread his warning of judgment and His Gospel to the world.

Our Awesome God!
Join us today as pastor Rudy preaches on God’s awesome holiness! Continuing in Isaiah chapter 6, Isaiah describes what he sees after the death of King Uzziah. He describes the seraphim crying out, saying, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts, The earth is full of His glory” (Isaiah 6:3). Isaiah glorifies God, Who is good and worthy of praise by all of His creation, both in His justice and His mercy.
Briefly looking into the events of King Uzziah in 2 Chronicles 26, we see God’s justice against the pride of the King for strength that God had given him. God is great in His power and does as He pleases without the consent of man. He is great and awesome and is deserving of all of praise and glory!

Outsourcing Justice!
This week, Pastor Rudy continues his sermons in the book of Isaiah!

The Cost of Mockery!
Join us today as Pastor Rudy preaches on the JUSTICE of God in Isaiah. God’s people have rejected their God, the Lord of hosts, and He now stretches His hand out against them.
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes And clever in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5:20-21)
His people have turned to mockery and denial of their LORD, but God will not be mocked and His patience will wear thin. His wrath will be turned against His own because of their iniquity and sin. Do not be tricked by the deceit of man, but trust in the Lord and surrender your heart to Him.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Free to Celebrate Liberty!
A day late, but: Happy Independence Day! Join us this Sunday as pastor Rudy preaches on our God-given freedoms and the Biblical foundation our country was built on. The founding fathers understood the necessity of God’s hand in the creation of our nation and relied on the Bible and prayer to assure that we would be set free of the role of England.
Much like our freedom here in America, God has freed those who he has called to be His, those who were dead in their trespasses, for: “When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiveness all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:13-14).
As believers in Christ, we are no longer enslaved under the law, but made free, being led by the spirit. If you don’t know Him, come to Him and be set free, taking upon you His yolk, which is easy and light. Commune with Christ and be set free from the shackles of sin that entangle you and trust in His righteous and holy name!

—Matthew 21:33-44; John 15:1-6 [New Fruit]

Faithful Fathers!
Good morning and Happy Father’s Day! Join us today as Pastor Rudy preaches on the importance of fathers being present in the home, both physically and relationally, and how the relationship between fathers and their children reflects that of God the Father and God the Son. The influence of fathers on their children affect their legacy for generations, for better or for worse. Whereas an ungodly father will bring his children up in wickedness and immorality, a godly father will create a legacy of God-fearing children, growing in His light and glorifying His name. Fathers should strive to emulate the relationship of the Father and Son in John 5:19, which says: “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.” Just like God the Father loves God the Son, so also should a father love his children.

The Bible, Race & the Gospel!
Welcome to the month of June! This communion Sunday, Pastor Rudy returns to us with an energetic message focused on the vast swath of ‘irregular’ happenings in our country today, titled “The Bible, Race & the Gospel!”

Pentecost!
Join us today as Kerry preaches on the Day of Pentecost! We read in Acts chapter 2 about how the Lord comes again, 50 days after His resurrection with a noise “like a violent rush of wind… and there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…” (Acts 2:2-4). Kerry goes through and talks about these events and ties in other Biblical passages that relate to the Day of Pentecost, showing the awesomeness of God!

Judgement Decreed!
Join us today as Pastor Rudy preaches on judgment! We continue in Isaiah chapter 3 where God declares that He will remove the things that His people esteem highly in their eyes: "Both supply and support, the whole supply of bread And the whole supply of water; The mighty man and the warrior, The judge and the prophet, The diviner and the elder, The captain of fifty and the honorable man, The counselor and the expert artisan, And the skillful enchanter." (Isaiah 3:1-3). He will remove these things and replace them with "capricious children" to rule over the people. God's judgment is nigh because of the wickedness of His people and He will judge them based on His goodness and righteousness.

Reckoning Day!
Join us today as Pastor Rudy preaches on the Day of Reckoning! As we continue reading through Isaiah, God’s wrath is upon His people. He has turned against all of the things that they have done and have boasted in their own works rather than giving God the glory. “For the Lord of hosts will have a day of reckoning Against everyone who is proud and lofty And against everyone who is lifted up, that he may be abased.” God will be exalted ALONE and will show His justice to those who turn away from Him.

Valued Higher than Gold!
Happy Mother’s Day! Pastor Rudy preaches on the significant role that women have in our society. Women have been given a great responsibility to be homemakers and child-rearers, teaching their children to be followers of Christ and becoming respectful citizens. Although the world would have you believe that a woman should focus solely on her career and personal gains, God has commanded that she is to care for her home and her family, for “A woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised” (Proverbs 31:30)

God Universal! - Part 2
Pastor Rudy continued this week with his message from last, titled “God Universal! ~ Cont”
Message references:
-Isaiah 2:5-11
-The promise of the Spirit, Day of the Lord- Joel 2:28-32, Realized in Acts 16-18
-God will Teach- Isaiah 54:13, John 6:45
-Communion: 1 Corinthians 11:22-32

God Universal!
Come join us as Pastor Rudy continues through Isaiah and worship our great God! Isaiah tells us to walk in the ways of God rather than in our ways,”‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD” (Isaiah 55:8 NASB). Worship God by how He has declared you to worship Him, not by the way you “feel” is best to worship Him. Confess your sins to Him and become a child of God! Abandon all that you have known and come to Him, for it is the fool that says in his heart “There is no God” (Psalm 14:1). Look to the heavens and ask Him to make you His and repent so that you may worship Him in all of His glory!

God's Call to Repentance!
Come join us as Rudy takes us through God’s call of repentance to sinners in Isaiah. God’s people have gone astray and have followed their own desires, thinking themselves to know better than the Almighty God. BUT GOD, in His infinite kindness and mercy, calls His people to come and reason with Him and repent of their sins so that they may become “as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18). Do not be as the wicked rulers who have turned away from God, but turn your gaze to Him and be forgiven!

He is Risen!
Happy Resurrection Day! Sunday has come and Christ has risen! Pastor Rudy focuses on the events of the third day after Christ’s sacrifice for the sin of the world that we rightly deserve to be punished for. “But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they [the women who followed Jesus]
came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus” (Colossians 2:1-2). Christ defeated death and overcame the sin of the world so that we could be clothed in HIS righteousness and those who are chosen, predestined by God, will be at the right hand of God and saved from spiritual death. All because CHRIST HAS RISEN!

Proclaiming His Death, Hosanna!
Join us as Pastor Rudy takes kicks off Holy Week by going through the events of Palm Sunday in the synoptic gospels of the New Testament that will lead us into Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Jesus prepares His disciples for His sacrifice by telling them that they need to go to Jerusalem, where he will be “mock[ed] and scourge[d]” before He is crucified and raised on the third day (Matthew 20:18 and 19). Though the disciples did not want Him to be killed, it was essential for our salvation, to save us from God’s wrath!

God is in Control!
This week, although we did not meet in person as a church body, our Pastor Rudy delivers a quick but important and powerful message on the importance of remembering who is in control of all things, titled "God is in Control!"

God’s Indictment Against Rebellion!
Pastor Rudy continues in Isaiah – God’s wrath is upon His chosen people! Their sinful practices are compared to that of Sodom and Gomorrah and God will turn his eyes and ears away from them. There is still hope, though as God tells His people to turn from their wickedness and turn back to Him – to do good and reprove the evil in which they revel.

The Prince of Prophets! - Part 2
Pastor Rudy continues his opening to the book of Isaiah.

The Prince of Prophets!
Pastor Rudy leads us into the book of Isaiah of this morning, with a message titled “The Prince of Prophets!”

Living in Light of the Chaos!
In light of the perverseness of the world, where evil is being called good and good evil, God brings us peace in knowing that He is in control. Sometimes it becomes daunting when we see in the news that people are encouraging such things as murdering babies in the womb and allowing men to be women and women to be men, presenting it as "being woke" and "living your own truth." As true believers in Christ, we must continue trusting in God, spreading His word and standing against the corruption of the flesh.

Resurrection Season Preparation!
As we come nearer to the time of year of the Resurrection of Christ, we need to examine ourselves and our focus of earthly versus heavenly things. It is easy to allow our fleshly desires and temptations to overshadow our will to serve God, but it is crucial to continue in self-examination so that we do not fall back into old, worldly habits. Continue in prayer and worship of God with a broken and contrite heart, constantly bringing your eyes back to Him!
