Episode Two: Roles of Students & Teachers in a Shared Environment
Our Leaders of Tomorrow address how students and teachers have a shared role in maintaining a healthy environment.
Episode One: College & Career Readiness / School's Core Beliefs
Real Issues. Real Conversations.
In our first episode, two groups of students from the "Clarkston Talks" podcast reflect on college & career readiness, while also examining their school's core beliefs.
The state of Georgia considers "College & Career Ready Students" as students who;
Enter the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) or University System of Georgia (USG) without needing remediation;
Achieve a readiness score on the ACT, SAT, two or more Advanced Placement (AP) exams, or two or more International Baccalaureate (IB) exams;
Pass a pathway-aligned end of pathway assessment (EOPA) resulting in a national or state credential; or
Complete a work-based learning program.
The Governor's Office in Georgia last measured Clarkston's College & Career Readiness as 31.8%, against a state average of 56.8% and county average of 50.5%.
Our Leaders of Tomorrow also discussed their school's established core beliefs.
Learning is an ongoing and far-reaching process that involves students, parents, educators, and community.
Students will maximize their learning potential by analyzing and synthesizing information.
Students will be able to communicate acquired knowledge.
Parents and educators must nurture student potential.
Students and educators will maintain high ethical and academic standards.
Students must accept responsibility for their personal, academic, and social growth.
Teachers will use a variety of methods to ensure academic success for all students.
Should students actively have a role in shaping their school's core beliefs?
We invite your feedback, and want you to join in the conversation.
