04 I don't know but I've been told ...
There was no room for us at Fort Ord, California, so they loaded us on busses and sent us across the country to a place called Fort Polk, Louisiana.
It was there they would try to turn a bunch of civilians into members of the world's most powerful military.
The Army had quite a job in front them.

03 May I borrow your pee? Please.
I thought I had a good idea of what my first day in the Army would be like.
After all, I'd seen a lot of movies and read a lot of books.

How to make important decisions.
Some decisions are life changing and require a lot of thought.

01 Baby Boomers Wanted
There was this war going on and the country realized they needed soldiers ... lots and lots of soldiers.
The politicians looked around and there we were -- the Baby Boomers.
We were the perfect solution to their problem.

00 Introduction to the podcast.
About a half century ago, there was a war on the other side of the planet. My country needed men to fight that war, so the politicians looked around and there we were -- the Baby Boomers.
Some volunteered but most were drafted.
Even though fighting in a war had not been big on our list of things to do in life, a lot of us got to experience it.
And there were lessons to be learned. Lots and lots of lessons.
That's what this podcast is about ... the lessons I learned about a half century ago while serving in the United States Army.
