Central Coast Maritime History: The Sisters of St Josephs
Lance Godwin presents Central Coast Maritime History and this episode explores the story of the The Sisters of St Josephs at Kincumber.
The Sisters established an orphanage at Kincumber in the late 19th century. With rising debts, the Sisters established a ferry service from Kincumber to Woy Woy in 1904. This proved to be very successful for half a century and in one instance, too successful, as the Reverend Mother faced the magistrate at Gosford Courthouse for overloading a ferry.
