Welcome back to Season 2 of Inside CCS: Teacher Chat. Join hosts Tyler Carter and Dr. Todd Walker as they discuss their summers and what to expect for the upcoming school year at CCS!

Join Tyler Carter and Dr. Walker as they sit down and chat with Kelly Rivers (Academic Services) and Marlene Bowerman (Easthaven Second Grade Teacher). The four of them discuss about the science of reading, the differing approaches to literacy strategies for elementary vs secondary, and how we are encouraging students to become more confident readers.

The Westside Honors Strings and Band Concert features musical performances by the top band and strings students from each of the Columbus City Schools westside middle schools! Join us to learn more about this event.

Superintendent Student Ambassadors, Bidya Kharel (Columbus Alternative High School) and Citlali Leon (Beechcroft High School) are joined by I Know I Can College Advising Managers Brenna Holmes (CAHS) and Ryan Gresham (Beechcroft) as they explore the topics of graduation, the college application process, financial aid (FAFSA) & other scholarships available for Columbus City School students.

Superintendent Student Ambassadors, Elecktra Sims (Marion-Franklin) and Katelin Izzo (Centennial) are joined by SEL Practitioner with the Office of Whole Child Focus, Chaka Diop and Dr. Sara Bode, CCS Medical Consultant and Medical Director of Nationwide Children’s Hospital Care Connection School-based Health and Mobile Clinic – to discuss how the district is addressing mental health and what resources are available for students.

Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services (ETSS) Bilingual Liaisons provide support to our ELL families. Join us to hear from Toymari Maduro and Victoria Real about the services offered by this organization and how they support our families to achieve student success.

Special co-host Interim Superintendent Dr. Angela Chapman joins Dr. Walker and guest Enddy Stevens, a teacher at Columbus Downtown HS, as the three discuss their journey as educators, professional growth, and supporting new teachers.

Inside CCS kicks off the new year with highlighting First Fridays at Art Impact Middle School. Join us as we talk about providing opportunity and access to CCS students through various art mediums.

Episode three of Inside CCS: Teacher Chat is here, and our hosts are joined by Keilah Brewster, a 9th-grade English teacher at Columbus Africentric Early College PreK-12. Brewster is a recent Ohio State graduate, and she's using everything she's learned to help her navigate her first year teaching at none other than her very own CAEC!

From being told at birth that he would never be able to walk or talk, to watching her son become a high school graduate. Join Tyler Carter and Dr. Talisa Dixon as they are joined by Debra Johnson, mother of Zuri Johnson, as they discuss the incredible journey of her son's challenging life. Born only weighing 14 oz, and was 4 ½ months premature, Johnson is set to receive his high school diploma this upcoming spring at Fort Hayes Arts & Academics HS. This is an inspiring episode that you do not want to miss!

Graduation is near and Columbus City Schools is ready to send our seniors off into the next chapter of their life! Join Tyler Carter and Dr. Talisa Dixon as they discuss with Scott Varner (Executive Director of Family and Student Engagement) about the upcoming "Senior Fest" event being held by Columbus City Schools for the class of 2022. Joining as well is Briggs Senior Jimmy Foster to discuss his journey to graduation and what he has planned next in his life.

Join Tyler Carter and Superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon as they take their first ever podcast on the road and visit Easthaven Elementary School, the home of “Girl’s Rock.” An initiative run by Easthaven’s Tierra Jackson, which helps young women learn the importance of being a woman. Listen in on this special Women’s History Month show to learn how Ms. Jackson educates her young women students on how to be a leader, boost their self-confidence, and so much more!

Join Tyler Carter as she sits down and talks to Priscilla Tyson, Bryn Wing, Sesily Wanjema, and Nicole Harper about Black Girls Soar. With the theme "Crowned to Succeed," created as a direct response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Black Girls SOAR provides a “safe space” and digital convening for African-American girls, ages 11 – 22 years. This organization is designed to provide important life skills and tangible best practices in the areas of leadership, professional development, financial literacy, self-care, self-love, and more. Black Girls Soar is outlined to set our girls up for success.

What better way to celebrate Women’s History Month than with the news that OSSHA has sanctioned girls wrestling!

We talk all things wrestling and achieving the impossible with two student athletes - Katya from South and Maddie from Whetstone.

Dr. Dixon and Board Of Education President Jennifer Adair sit down with Aaliyah Reed, a 2020 Marion-Franklin High School graduate who is making history as the youngest African-American female to be accepted into the 114th Columbus Division of Fire (CDF) Recruitment Class. She discusses her time in Columbus City Schools as well as the adversity she overcame.

Guest host Christian Ross sits down with Dr. Danita Thornton, supervisor of school psychologists at Columbus City Schools, and two CCS students. We discuss the importance of having healthy conversations about mental health, as well as what resources are available for our students.

What do winter sports look like with the pandemic? How do our athletes compete and succeed?

Join us as we sit down with 3 CCS Student ambassadors, Carl (Linden McKinley/Columbus Downtown), Kaidyn (Eastmoor), Hafsa (Northland), as well as the Supervisor of Student Leadership and Engagement Mia Prewitt. The students share their thoughts on the recent virtual student summit they attended - addressing topics such as violence, and the necessity of therapy for both adults and youth.

What does accelerated learning look like in a pandemic - especially when opportunities flip from in-person, to hybrid, to virtual? We sit down with Leslie Kelly, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning - and Kenton Lee, Executive Director of Accelerated Learning, to discuss district initiatives and special learning programs.

Tonya Freeman, Director of Central Enrollment joins "Our Inside CCS: Podcast" to discuss the 2022-2023 School Choice Fair and what all families need to know when deciding where your child attends school to learn and grow.

CCS' own Courtney Hale explains the benefits and resources available to help keep us healthy and well - both physically and mentally!

Dr. Sara Bode joins our show to talk about her new position as CCS' Medical Consultant, Wellness Week, and the COVID-19 vaccine rollout for our youngest learners between the ages of 5-11.
