S4 E3 - The Connection Between Body Image and Mental Health
I learned I had mental health issues because of my body image. I didn't think of the two as related, I just thought that's how I thought about myself. But a negative body image is definitely a mental health issue. You can’t have a conversation about mental health without including body image and I think that’s overlooked in the conversation, so I'm talking about it on this episode.
Body image isn't something you have to "manage" or "deal with" it's something you can fix! It's a powerful tool in strengthening your mental health (not to mention it does wonders for your physical health, too!)

S4 E2 - Overcoming Negative Body Talk (strategies & tips)
Negative body talk is normalized in our culture to a point you might not realize you're doing it. It's become its own genre of comedy, especially for women, but I'd like to UN normalize this kind of thing. We shouldn't make fun of our bodies in an attempt to avoid criticism or "say it before someone else does" that's not what confident women do. Confident women over come negative body talk and this episode gives you my strategies and tips for how to have positive self talk.

S4 E1 - Building a Positive Body Image: My Personal Journey
Welcome to season 4! We're getting started with a BANG because I'm sharing my personal journey of body image healing. The result of building a positive body image is the absence of stress and pain. I explain how it feels like the freedom to just do things. I'm sharing my "Big 4" body image issues that I struggled with, the breakthroughs I made to heal them, and how I think about these 4 things now that I'm fully confident and comfortable in my body.

S3 E25 - The Connection Between Body Image and Spiritual Practice
Feeling disconnected? Not spiritually fulfilled or inspired? It might be your body image distracting you from your spiritual practice! When you struggle with body image, you can easily overlook how you are made in the image of God. Listen to this episode to understand what's stopping you from being more connected to your body, why being connected to your body is essential before you can be spiritually healthy, and perspective shifts to honor and care for your body as part of your spiritual practice.

S3 E22 - Worldly Body v. Redeemed Body (pursuing a godly body relationship)
Do you want peace and joy in your relationship with food & exercise? Believe it or not, God has a plan for that. You might wonder, what does my body relationship have to do with holiness and godliness? What does being christian have to do with body image?Well, let's talk about it. In this episode, I'm covering the tension between how the world views bodies and how God views them. Since we are made in the image of God, it's no surprise that God has something to say about what we eat and how we care for our bodies. This episode outlines the mindset and heart posture towards our bodies I see God desiring for his children.

S3 E21 - Style, modesty, and existing as a woman
Raise your hand if you've been personally victimized by purity culture?? Religion has a lot to say about how women should dress, but what does scripture actually say? What does God's heart say in this? How does the fact women are also created in the image of God influence how he designed women to exist in this world? In this episode, Rebekah addresses personal style, modesty, and cultural conditioning around "appropriate" dress code.

S3 E20 - What I learned from giving away 10% of my 2022 income
Giving money away releases the grip it has on your heart. This is what I learned from giving 10% of each paycheck to church and charity over 2022. Scripture calls this tithing, but for a long time I didn't do it. When we choose American traditions and culture over God's advice for holy living, we start putting our trust in things other than God. Listen in for how my financial journey of 2022 shaped me spiritually. I hope this encourages you and brings new perspectives on your relationship with money, tithing, church, and how God provides in all our lives.

S3 E19 - Being single in the church and its (unhealthy?) obsession with marriage
Dating in 2023 is crazy. There's a lot of advice out there for how to date as a christian and what christian dating should look like, but have we stopped to ask if it's really part of the Christian calling? If you attend any church service in America, you might think it's a requirement for membership. In this episode, Rebekah challenges confusing "The American Dream" with God's plan and considers 1 Corinthians 7 when Paul wrote that it's better for christians who are single to "remain as they are" rather than get married. Perhaps God is, again, trying to save us from struggles, distractions, heartbreak, and more by encouraging singleness. Listen in to get reassurance that singleness is not a disease to be cured, but a powerful (recommended) status for members of the church body. S3 E18 - What is body confidence and why does it matter?
As we approach the end of this season, I want to level set on what body confidence feels like in the relationship with your body. There's a difference between body positivity and body confidence. In this episode, I talk about why body confidence is more powerful than body neutrality, or positivity, etc.

S3 E17 - The super cringy Beachbody rebrand and setting sustainable health goals
Most health goals are really just vanity metrics. You probably learned this from companies like Beachbody and WeightWatchers that used things like inches, pounds, and dress sizes to measure success of their health programs. But that's not health, it's vanity. Just like with Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, some creators want millions of followers, while others want to make an impact in people's lives. It's possible to do both, but when you're chasing the metrics it's easy to burn out and lose focus of what's important. Listen to this episode to get all the tea on how to set good health goals, the cringy rebrand of Beachbody, and why people are trolling WeightWatchers on Twitter.

S3 E16 - An argument against cosmetic surgery and implants
If you've considered getting implants, a nose job, etc. you'll like this episode. Here's why I don't agree with the "it doesn't impact anyone except me" response to questions about cosmetic surgery, implants, and fillers. In this episode, you'll hear me break down a few points of consideration most people don't think about when weighing the pro's and con's of these procedures. Putting aside all the health risks, cost, side effects, etc. I'm bringing to light humanist and feminist perspectives of racial appropriation, generational confusion, and economic disparity. These treatments and surgeries widen the economic gap of beauty where the rich can be beautiful and the poor cannot. There must be a deeper level of accountability in how we approach these decisions, and my hope is people stop.

S3 E15 - Kim Kardashian's new body
What does Kim K's "new" body mean for beauty standards? Lots of things, but none of them are new. Listen to this episode to understand the danger of using bodies as fashion accessories, why "extreme" things will always be in fashion, and why we need to have compassion and grace for Kim.

S3 E14: Putting pressure on creative projects (unedited)
I don't have all the answers, and I want to be a voice you can listen to when you're struggling. I'm right there with you and working out my own challenges in different areas of life. One thing on my mind lately has been the pressure to have your art, book, podcast, music, or hot takes go viral simply because it's possible. Everyone talks about making money doing something you love, but is that what we are designed for? I'm not sure. This episode was straight off the dome because honestly I had no idea what to talk about. Sometimes (a lot of the time) I bite off more than I can chew and over commit to things in an effort to "hold myself accountable" See? I'm still trying to tame my inner perfectionist and high achiever. I'm still learning how to rest and find rhythms of healthy productivity.

S3 E13 - Enneagram and Confidence Types
Confidence is not the same for everyone. Especially with body confidence, not everyone is going to have a goal of wearing a bikini all summer or going without makeup. You need to understand your confidence type before you can really understand your confidence goals. Just like with the Enneagram, there's a quiz to find your Confidence Type! Go to www.bodyconfidencequiz.com and discover which of the four confidence types you are. Listen to this episode to get insight to each one and have the encouragement that yes, confidence is possible for YOU, even if you're not interested in wearing a bikini.

S3 E11 - Blocking dudes in my DMs and how enforcing boundaries builds confidence
When do you block a guy for hitting on you? Immediately. That's my new answer. Lots of women feel like it's "mean" to block a guy who DMs them with a "compliment" but is that really what he's doing? Or is he sexualizing you right off the bat and making you feel uncomfortable. In this episode, I'm telling the story of why I've recently been on a blocking spree on Instagram, how blocking men strengthens my confidence, and why you should, too.

S3 E10 - Skinny used to be an insult and how to disarm triggering words to your body image
Your triggers are signs of where you need healing. People have not always used the same words as insults and compliments. Educating yourself on how other people see the world and what used to be considered attractive, desirable, etc. helps you disarm words that are triggering for you. Body image is shaped by your experience and not everyone experiences the same thing. What is an insult to you might be a compliment to someone else. Listen to this episode to hear about where some of my insecurities came from, my ex who gave my a body image complex, and how I armed myself with tools to disarm triggering words. You'll learn how to breakdown the words you feel insulted (and gassed up) by and build true confidence.

S3 E8 - Period tracking and why it matters for body confidence
Do you know the phases of your menstrual cycle? Yeah, I didn't think so. One reason there's so much shame and taboo around periods is American culture has done an incredible job NOT teaching this in a way that makes any sense to anyone. Listen to this episode to learn about the four phases of a menstrual cycle, my personal period tracking hacks and tips, and why your period is important in healing your body image and increasing confidence.

S3 E7 - Other insecurities (besides weight) created by culture
Exhausted by all the beauty expectations and cultural pressures placed on women? Same. Believe it or not, weight isn't the only body image issue women struggle with. With all the products marketed to women to change how you look, there are about 1 billion things you could feel self conscious about. So no, body image isn't just about weight. Many, many, many physically fit women struggle with body insecurities (me being one of them) so this episode is breaking down why that is, other things we feel insecure about, and what to actually focus on instead to build your confidence.

S3 E5 - What Does a Healthy Body Look Like?
These days it's hard to find healthy body image mentors. With all the filters, surgery, and inauthentic "realness" constantly in our faces...knowing what healthy looks like can feel impossible. That's why I'm here! Listen to this episode to have some healthy reminders of what physical health, fitness, etc. actually looks like for you, me, and everyone in between.

S3 E4 - Sexualization, Objectification, and Seeing Your Body as More Than a Tool to Attract a Partner
This one is a heavy hitter! Women's bodies have been sexualized and objectified by culture so much, we do it to ourselves without realizing it. Listen to this episode to find out ways this is hurting your body image and body confidence, plus how you can challenge your body to do impressive things (like when I ran a marathon) to help anchor your body confidence in things that matter.

S3 E2 - Body Goal Myths & Removing the "Finish Line"

S3 E1 - Body Image and the Illusion of "Better"
Welcome to season 3 of Confidently She! I’m sure you have an idea of what will make your body better. Listen to this episode to get my perspective on how beauty standards have never been about how you look, but about creating an impossible standard to chase. The thing about body image is you always think looking better will make you happier, increase your confidence, and all the things commercials promise. Here's what I've learned, better never really comes. Why? Because if you don't change how you think about your body, your brain will always find a new version of "better" to chase. Stop chasing unrealistic beauty standards and body ideals and start living your life! Listen to this episode now.

Expansion Series: When I focus on connection
Welcome to the last episode in the Expansion Series! This episode is about connection, expanding connection. This whole series, don't forget, is meant to be relistened to, replayed, refreshed. And as you expand, you come back to different concepts and principles, revisit them and find a new way to expand them based on the new place you're at in your life. When we talk about connection and expanding your connection, you have to start with the relationship and the amount of connection you feel with yourself. Because you can only connect with other people as deeply as you have connected with yourself.

Expansion Series: When I focus on expression
Today we are back with the Expansion Series. This one is my favorite because we're talking about Self-Expression. Expression is pretty much everything that has to do with your body. Your body helps you express yourself. Try expressing yourself without things like movement or your voice. Even our appearance and the way we look offers so many ways for us to express ourselves. The beauty that you choose to offer the world is your version of self-expression.

Expansion Series: When I focus on enjoyment
Welcome to the first episode in the Expansion Series! I am so excited for this series. I love the idea of expansion because oftentimes, we think that we need to grow or excel at a fast pace. But this concept of expanding for whatever reason, in my mind at least, gives me the permission to do it slowly. So the purpose of this expansion series is to talk through what expansion is going to look like as you go on through your life. You want to continue to expand your confidence and your relationship with yourself because we can ALWAYS continue to grow.
In this specific episode, we are talking about "Expanding Your Enjoyment". This is a NEXT LEVEL confidence concept that I did not understand until recently and I cannot wait to share it with you!

When I stopped taking hormonal birth control
I am SO pumped for this episode! I have been meaning to talk about it for a long time and I apologize because I should've talked about it wayyy sooner. But I didn't know how and I didn't know the best things to say because it's kind of a medical topic and I'm in no way a medical professional...BUT I am a woman who knows about her body. I am a woman who is connected to her body. And one of the things that helped me become so much more connected to my body was when I stopped taking hormonal birth control. That is what we're talking about in this episode: hormones, our bodies, sex, birth control, periods, all things woman.

When I investigated my body image
Get ready to find out exactly what caused my body insecurities cause I'm sharing my very own step 2 of the Body Confidence Playbook: investigation.
When you start investigating your body image, you realize everything you believe came from someone else who said it. Maybe it's a TV show or a popular phrase you heard growing up. But believe it or not, those negative thoughts in your head didn't come from you - and you can choose to keep them or let them go. It's time to investigate where your body image issues came from - cause they aren't your fault.

This topic is a long time coming, listen in to get a front row seat to my body image story and how I became aware it was an issue. I will talk about step 1 in the Body Confidence Playbook, awareness. Because even though we're taught that our bodies are the problem if we have confidence issues, my story will prove quite the opposite. It's actually not your physical body, it's your philosophy on your body that's going to unlock the kind of relationship you probably think isn't possible (right now)

When I wasn't a "gift giver"
Welcome back! Today I'm talking about when I wasn't a "gift giver". Love languages are really important and showing people that you care about them matters. It's not good enough anymore to just say "I'm not good at this" and hope someone else picks up that slack. What I want to do is become someone who is fluent in all 5 love languages. When family starts feeling toxic
Today's topic is sooo incredibly important especially around this time of year... toxic family members. When family starts feeling toxic, first of all, you know that you're growing as a person. Our family members are not perfect and they are on their own healing journey as well. And just because someone gave birth to you or shares your DNA does not mean that they get some kind of special privilege to treat you like crap. So if you're starting to realize some toxic behaviors in your family members, that means that you're outgrowing those toxic behaviors. Sooo good job!

When you start being thankful for your body
I try to be thankful every day, but this time of year gets my Scorpio heart deep in my feelings. Really cool things happened when I started being thankful for my body.
When we start being thankful for what our bodies can do for us, we stop being so harsh towards our bodies. Think about it, pretty hard to be annoyed by cellulite when you think about everything your legs do for you.
This episode is my two cents on this season of giving thanks!

When you feel guilty for spending money on yourself
I used to feel guilty for spending money on myself. Like, every single dollar spent. But what I found is that when I started spending money on myself, my relationship with my body got so much better. When I started focusing on quality over quantity in my clothing, perfume, the food I ate, etc. I disproved this underlying belief I had that I wasn’t worthy of the things I wanted.
Listen, you deserve good things.
If you’re in this place of feeling guilt for spending money on yourself, there are a few different reasons why. This episode will break it down and help you, too, overcome this belief that it's only okay to splurge on other people.

When making friends as an adult is hard
I hear it all the time and I've said it myself, “It’s hard to make friends as an adult..especially female friends.”
Insecurities, competitiveness, and comparison-itis all lead to unsafe friendships.
The more confident and secure you are in yourself, the better friendships you will attract.
Making friends as an adult is only hard when you never want to feel awkward when you never want to be rejected.
You’re here for the tips, the advice, and the answers. Tune into this episode to learn how to make meaningful friendships as an adult (and how to prune the bad ones).

When you realize you're not growing
What can you do when you realize you’re not growing?
Start by looking at your habits and see which ones are aligned with your highest and best. Take note of the habits that are helping you be a healthy version of you. When imposter syndrome isn't your fault
The most successful women are prone to having the biggest imposter syndrome. Think about it, you can't feel like an imposter if you're not doing something *big* and important.
I struggled with imposter syndrome when I first got into corporate America, and it still creeps in now and then. Why is it that when you start seeing a lot of success you think to yourself, "No WAY can it be this easy. No WAY it can happen this fast. I must have fooled them... right? They haven't figured out that I don't know what I am doing."
The reason you doubt yourself is because the system you're working in was designed for men. It's time to believe that you deserve the success that you have. And this episode will tell you WHY.
Imposter syndrome isn't a syndrome..it's a symptom of patriarchal systems.

When dressing for your body type is a form of self respect
Today we're talking about something that really was a turning point for me and my relationship with my body. And I don't say that lightly...this was THE thing that started unlocking doors for me. This episode is all about dressing for your body type and when you've been lied to about what clothes you should wear.

When parents cause body anxiety
Today's episode is an important one. I focus a lot on how to uncover insecurities and the causes of them related to our body when it's not so obvious. Like how to find the sources of the different insecurities that you may have related to your body. But sometimes those causes are very obvious. Sometimes it's quite clear whose fault it is you have the body image struggles that you do. And sometimes those causes are... our parents.

When the holidays stress you out more than they bring you peace
Welcome back my friends! I'm excited about this episode. This is a big one and it's really important. Today we're talking about the holidays and boundaries. The holidays are a funny little time where everybody thinks that they can use it as an excuse to do whatever they want and sometimes to be really toxic. Maybe this refers to family members, a partner (or ex-partner), your relationship with food, or your relationship with your body. Knowing what your boundaries are with other people is important, especially around the holidays. But knowing what your boundaries are with YOURSELF around the holidays is even moreeee important.

Don't let the poor audio quality stop you from getting HYPE listening to this episode! We're talking food, which is a touchy subject that shouldn't be..because you literally can't avoid food.
One of the reasons this feels so big and so heavy is because you're faced with it every day. You can't avoid food like you can avoid shopping if you're a shopaholic or bring home work if you're a workaholic or whatever...
You are faced with making decisions about food multiple times a day. Today on Confidently She, I want to encourage you around this thought: food is designed to be enjoyed and help you express who you are and what you're feeling! In fact, it's your responsibility to your body is to make sure it has energy. Food is a kind way for you to serve and honor your body.
Lean into this episode and hear my heart when I say...food is not the enemy.

When you feel like you're behind in life
The audio quality is poor, but the content is FIRE!! In this episode, I'm talking about timelines..... turning 30, staying relevant as a woman, and all this pressure we feel as women to get things done in a certain amount of time and to hit certain milestones before we reach a certain age. Cultural timelines of expiration dates on your career, relationships, when you can have certain things in order to be "impressive'. Because it's not just our bodies that have these as women. Why do we have these ridiculous timelines on how quickly everything in our life needs to happen? What fundamental belief does a timeline point to? Listen to this episode to hear me unravel allll of this.

When it feels like you ARE what your body looks like
Why do we think of ourselves as a body? Our brains are trained to think certain things about ourselves because of today's culture. Feeling like you ARE what your body looks like. Feeling like you ARE the appearance of your body. That is your identity. That is who you are. In this episode, we're going to talk about why we feel this way as women. What to do about it. And what's actually true. This is one of my favorite topics because this is what helped me shift the quickest and gave me the most light bulb moment. When you don't know yourself as well as you thought you did
In this episode, we're talking about practical ways to meet yourself. Specifically, getting to know your body. Now, I know what you're probably thinking....."Rebekah how would I not have met myself? I've been alive for x number of years. This is a weird topic...?" I hear you and if it were me six years ago, I probably would be saying the same thing. When every generation has different body ideals
I'm excited about this episode because we're talking about generational ideas of body image. As women, we're very self-focused. We tend to think that the way we want to look, is the way everyone wants to look. We also tend to compare ourselves to the current beauty/body "standard". But when you look at what the beauty/body standard was throughout the years, it's ever-changing. It's not like women have held themselves to the same standards for the past 200 years and we're all working towards the same goal. No! Depending on the decade that you grew up in, or went to college in, that's going to influence what you think your body should look like. So think about the expectations that you're holding yourself to and what "standard" does it line up with? Let's deconstruct these generational body type expectations, and be more intentional about where your expectations for your body come from.

When you resist "girly" things criticized by culture
There's a lot of good stuff in this episode. Culture criticizes things women like to do, drink, say, or how we generally act. It's so normalized, you might be surprised to hear the examples covered during this episode. I'm sharing a few personal examples of how I pretended to like things so I would come off more attractive (yikes). The purpose of this episode is to challenge why you resist certain things you like that are considered "girly" and why "girly" things are bad (spoiler: they aren't) growing in confidence comes from exploring who you are, what you like, and being honest with yourself about what you find. This is a MUST listen for anyone struggling to let themselves be free. Enjoy!

When the haters gonna hate
Anyone getting attention also gets hate. Haters are jealous of the attention you're getting. They feel threatened by you doing something and instead of choosing to be inspired, they choose hate. That says a lot about them - and very little about you, my queen. However, there's a difference between haters and actual feedback. When you're single and have a lot to offer
Single? Disappointed with your dates? Not ready to settle for another guy expecting praise for doing the bare minimum? Yahhh - I'm right there with you, love. Here's the thing, as you grow in confidence, your compatibility pool gets smaller. You're only attracted to people who are also confident and secure. Your criteria changes. Which is great, because you avoid the toxic relationships and stress of being mistreated. But it means you're single longer. Here's the truth: you can have a complete, fulfilling life without a romantic partner. When you focus on what you bring to the table and expanding who you are, you're not going to let people sit at your table who only show up with an appetite. You also won't be starving for any kind of "food" someone's willing to offer. Listen for how to think about dating, relationships, and life as a confident, equipped Queen.

Foundations: Having a Queen Mindset
The best way to develop a mindset of confidence is to emulate a figure who already has it. I couldn't think of a better way than to embody the energy of a Queen. Like, a legit Queen. It's not arrogant to see yourself as a Queen when you understand what that actually means. In this Foundations episode, I'm explaining why I chose this term and what it means when put into practice. Do you expect people to bow down to you in the street? Of course not...but I want you to be at a place where if it happened you wouldn't be uncomfortable or all that shocked. Seeing yourself as a Queen reminds you there's really no competition because you already got the crown, you just need to uphold it and enjoy it. Remember who you are, and listen to this episode. Welcome to the Foundations series of Confidently She. These episodes are designed to give you an inside look at my approach to body anxiety and femininity. Foundations: Qualities of Feminine Confidence
What's the difference between feminine confidence and masculine confidence? Isn't confidence just...confidence? No, it's not. Based on the context, you can respond from a place of masculine confidence or feminine confidence. In order to know how you want to respond, you have to understand the difference between these two things. Most of what we see in culture is masculine confidence traits, and of those traits - the ones we associate with confidence are unhealthy, boarder line toxic. Things like being forceful, controlling, doing "whatever it takes" to produce a certain outcome. That is predatory behavior, it's actually not confidence. Confidence is a grounded trust in yourself to handle situations as they change. It's actually not being in control (as much as we might think it is) listen for the full context of what confidence is and how masculine and feminine energies show up in a confident way. Welcome to the Foundations series of Confidently She. These episodes are designed to give you an inside look at my approach to body anxiety and femininity. Foundations: The Femininity Masterclass
Okay - here it is. I'm laying out my definition of femininity and what it looks like to be a confident, feminine woman. The easy way to act confident is to mimic what you see others doing. That's how we learn. But when you're in a male dominated industry or business function (or just living in a patriarchal culture) that tends to look like conforming to masculine confidence traits. That happened to me for years when I first started in corporate sales. I copied everything the most successful reps did (those happened to be men on my team) and it put me in my masculine energy. I had to actively seek out the women who were doing well and see what habits they employed and how I could create that in my approach. This works outside the business world, too. We often see "confident women" acting the exact same as men, which doesn't attract the masculine. So what do we do? Listen to the episode. I have the answer. Welcome to the Foundations series of Confidently She. These episodes are designed to give you an inside look at my approach to body anxiety and femininity. S2 E120: She trusts herself to make changes without regret
Do you beat yourself up for not making necessary changes soon enough? I've felt that. No matter how long you stayed somewhere you "shouldn't have" you still made the courageous decision to make a change. Change is one of the hardest things for people to do! In this episode, I'm offering some encouragement and perspective on making changes and the two ways people respond to it.

S2 E119: She speaks with confidence (public speaking 101)
How do you speak with confidence? Let me tell you. This episode has some gems from my college days as a speech kid winning multiple state championships and (in my book) tying for 2nd place in the nation in persuasive speaking. The ability to articulate your thoughts and opinions is a vital tool in your confidence belt. These tips will help you become better, no matter what level you're currently at.

S2 E118: She challenges cultural conditioning around body image
Whew! Have you thought long and hard about why you're insecure about what you're insecure about? There are women half way around the world feeling insecure about completely different things...why? Because nearly everything we believe is a result of cultural conditioning. When you grow up in a patriarchal culture, misogyny can play a role in how you view yourself and other women. In this episode, I'm breaking down where your worth comes from and how that's tied to your self-worth.

S2 E117: She knows what Biblical leadership means (with Phylicia Masonheimer)
Sexism in Christianity - it's all over the place, what do we think about it? Well, the Bible elevated women above their social status at the time, which was a very feminist thing to do - if you ask me. To help in the heavy lifting of this discussion, I brought a guest. Again, I don't always have guests, but when I do, I prefer to have guests who are very smart and provide deeper insight I simply don't have exposure to at the moment. We are blessed by Phylicia Masonheimer to do a mini Bible study on how God clothes virtues within men and women.

S2 E116: She's equipped to face her day-to-day insecurities
Struggling to love yourself just as you are? Can't seem to feel confident 24/7? Yikes. Same, girl, same. Misogyny makes you believe even existing as a woman is a burden. There's a lot to unpack around that topic. Thankfully, confidence isn't a state of being. Confidence isn't a personality type. Confidence is a practice and mindset! Listen to this episode to get my no-longer-a-secret sauce to facing my day-to-day insecurities and how I think about day-to-day things like buying new jeans, etc. Your thoughts are not who you are. Your body is not who you are. Your clothing size is not who you are.

S2 E115: She's working through her fear of standing out
Do you have a fear of being noticed? Are you afraid to stand out? Women are socially conditioned to expect criticism for standing out, whether they look good or bad. This causes a hindrance on your ability to express yourself. Self expression is one of the purposes of life. I believe and see in scripture that God designed us to express his glory through our unique and distinct attributes and gifts. This is something you should practice doing if you want to grow in your confidence! Listen in for the full story on why I was hesitant to get bangs and much more. P.S. stop warning people about bangs. Lots of women can pull them off, just don't go to GreatClips and expect them to look good.

S2 E114: She is made in the image of God
What's your go to verse on body insecurities? Womp. womp. Someone asked me this and I didn't have an answer. Why? Because body image actually isn't the issue. It's a symptom of an underlying illness. That illness could be pride, shame, but ultimately it's insecurity. The Bible speaks to how to deal with pride and shame, but obviously not body image. One challenge with trying to solve body image from a worldly perspective is that it's based in nothing more than your own opinion and belief. And your own opinion and belief can just as easily be negative (and most often is) so who are you to say your body is actually good v. bad? What authority do you have? Hmm. None. That's what leads me to giving the authority of my value over to God, the one who created me in His image. I don't get to decide who I am or what I am.

S2 E113: She challenges who she's comparing herself to (with Heather Creekmore)
Every time you feel down about your body ask yourself a simple question, compared to who? I have another rare occurrence of a lovely guest on the show, Heather Creekmore, the author of Compared to Who? which is a book title I'm obsessed with. Listen in to catch our conversation about comparison and body image and how to use God's truth to direct our thoughts about bodies, self worth, and confidence.

S2 E112: She feels pressure and expectation to always be beautiful
Why are beautiful women insecure? Expectations create insecurity more than flaws or shortcomings. Believe it or not, looking good doesn't solve insecurities. Confidence has nothing to do with the way you look, to be honest. It's all about your mindset and perspective, what you value, and what you pay attention to. Listen in for some relatable words about feeling insecure even if people call you beautiful...and how to have real confidence.

S2 E111: She invites her mom on the podcast to talk about life
I invited my mom on the show! This cute (and brutally honest) conversation with my mom showed me how much we sound alike and the generational wisdom I'm lucky enough to have - and share with you! In this episode we talk about parenting, a man's relationship with his mother, and navigating the changes of life and family with grace.

S2 E110: She transforms the relationship with her body through her heart transformation (with Tanner Hobbs of the Chasing Freedom Show!)
I don't always have guests, but when I do, I prefer speaking with women like Tanner Hobbs. Do you know the difference between the "brand" of Jesus and having a real relationship with him? Oooof. Tanner brought the heat with this interview and didn't shy away from sharing her very relatable story of coming back to faith. If you've felt alone in your walk with God, in your journey of understanding what it even means to be Christian, this is the episode for you!

S2 E109: She's outgrowing her fear of rejection
Do you have a fear of rejection? Are you playing small and not pursuing the life you really want because you know your family will hate it? Especially as a Christian, lots of people aren't going to like you or agree with what you believe. You're gonna have to outgrow the evolutionary trait that tells us we must "fit in" socially...at all costs. Because in our current economic environment, you're going to be totally fine if you uproot and leave behind the small minded people who make fun of your dreams (I did it - more than once, and I'm still here!)

S2 E108: She creates her own closure
How do you get closure? By realizing not everything is about you, babe. So much of what we stress about is a result of a self-centered worldview. S2 E107: She builds her life outside of a romantic relationship
Is your whole world wrapped up in romance? Yikes. That's dangerous for your heart. We are designed to flourish within a community. That means deep friendships...even if you're married, sis. For my fellow single ladies, too, an over focus on dating or progressing in a romantic relationship can trick you into being with someone who is not right for you. That's the most lonely feeling in the world! Trust me, I've been there. So this episode is encouraging every woman (single, married, or otherwise) to build your life outside of a romantic relationship. Make sure you are in good, solid community so when life hits you with a wave of unexpected trials, you have a village there to catch you.

S2 E106: She pursues growth even when it's uncomfortable for others
Some people, no matter what you decide to do, won't support you. When you're starting on a healthy path, unhealthy people can't help but feel threatened by your growth and courage. Your steps make them feel insecure about their lack of progress. This is not up to you to fix or make them feel comfortable. Your growth is your business. When you're growing, you will soon see who is truly supporting you and who is just accepting the parts of you that are like them.

S2 E105: She invests in professional care for her body
Girl, don't let anyone convince you that a massage, pedicure, or reflexology is a "once a year treat" - nope. I used to feel self conscious getting my body "serviced" by people. I would feel guilty, like I shouldn't be doing it. Or I would hope they didn't notice parts of my body I was insecure about at the time. This made what was supposed to be a stress-free experience...stressFULL lol. Don't let this happen to you! Listen to this episode for examples and inspiration on why investing in professional care for your body is an honorable way to care for yourself, especially as a single woman with no man around to rub your feet, girl.

S2 E104: She's figuring out how to date as a Christian
But for real, dating as a Christian can feel like when the Israelites were in the desert for 40 years. Lots of complaining, messing up, and the thirst gets real. Here's an episode of the podcast to bring some practical advice and encouragement when you're single and dating. Remember that every man in the church is your brother before he is your husband. He's your brother in Christ who has desires of his heart and is being transformed by God right there with you. Give grace and stay humble, but don't get it twisted - you deserve a dynamite amazing spouse...if that's what God is calling you to. P.S. you can be single and not looking to date, it's 100% okay to not be pursuing marriage as a Christian woman. THAT IS OKAY. You are not a second class Christian if you're single, ask Paul to back me on that one.

S2 E103: She uses dating apps (but not obsessively)
Dating is crazy, but does it have to be? Maybe not. If you're a single Christian woman looking to date, you really should only be going on a few dates here and there. Don't make it your main focus or priority. Godly men will come to you, and if they don't - they need to work on their leadership ability. Op. Here's my advice if you're trying to attract a Christian man on a dating app. This advice has been PROVEN to work. I got a DM from someone who made a dating profile from listening to this episode, and met the man who would become her husband. BOOM. You're welcome, everyone.

S2 E102: She doesn't have to be a virgin
Woah! let's talk about it. Everyone is sexually impure, so let's start there. It's completely possible for you to be a confident, single Christian woman and not be a virgin. There's so much shame and guilt that creeps into body image issues from that church doing an inadequate job of talking about purity. Purity has purposes beyond just "not getting pregnant". If you grew up in church, please listen to this episode to get a genuine perspective on the benefits of purity without the shame and distain normally put on women who've had sex before. If you're not a virgin, you're welcome here, babe. Join the club. Purity is a lifelong practice that doesn't end when you're married.

S2 E101: She trusts her Heavenly Father
If the relationship you have with your earthly father is strained or non-existent, your perspective on God as a father is most likely suffering as a result. In this episode, we take a dive into what it really looks like to have a perfect, heavenly father and explore this component of your faith.

S2 E100: She shares her testimony
God works in crazy ways and my life is no different. My journey of faith hasn't been smooth, in the 100th episode of this podcast I'm sharing ways God worked in my life to bring me back into His will for me. This will always be a journey, but this is where I'm at in this current season.

S2 E99: She practices loving others in practical ways
Vulnerability builds confidence. If you want to build your confidence, stretching your love languages and showing love in super practical ways is a great way to get started. First, because it's kinda awkward and makes you vulnerable. Second, because you're not focused on YOU so much. You're focusing on other people and what they need. When you do this, you're more likely to appear confident because you're not so worried what people think of you...you're focused on them. Listen to hear a story about how I anticipated needs of my friends and made serving each other contagious.

S2 E98: She uses discernment and identifies safe people for her life team
Who is on your life team? Go read the book Safe People by Henry Cloud & John Townsend, then get back to me. This episode is essentially a master class in discernment, emotional vulnerability, and picking the right people for your life. Relationships influence everything, you might not notice it right away, but over time you will see how the people you surround yourself with impact what you value and how you live. Listen in to this episode for a download on discernment, wisdom, and why it's so darn important.

S2 E97: She asks for what she wants, with the humility to hear "no"
I see a lot of advice around "how to get anything you want" but in my experience, I don't want to get anything I want. Sometimes I've wanted really bad things. Instead, in this episode I'm giving you "how to get what you need" by changing this slightly. It is Biblical to ask for things, absolutely. Asking for things means you have the confidence to speak up, but the humility to be wrong about it. Listen to this episode for encouragement about speaking up for yourself, pursuing a life you desire, but trusting in the safety God provides by closing doors.

S2 E95: (Q&A) She responds to hate with love
How do you reply when someone is mean? What's the confident way to handle rude comments? If you have a question please email hello@rebekahbuege.com and I'll respond in an episode. When you have an encounter with someone rude or intentionally nasty, there's a few ways to emotionally protect yourself while still responding to the situation. Listen to this episode to hear how I handle these scenarios with grace...because I used to have a rude, nasty side of me that came from insecurity. It wasn't cute, guys! Thankfully, that's been mostly worked out of me, but I still have moments where I really want to give people truth without love.

S2 E94: She finds peace living as a work-in-progress
The idea that we ever "finish" or "arrive" is a lie to make you unsatisfied with where you are right now. Eternity is set in the hearts of man. We always long for more, different, or better. In this episode, we're thinking about that moving goal post of "success" and how to find peace as a living work-in-progress.

S2 E93: She has boundaries with apologies (but takes ownership when necessary)
Do you apologize for everything? Are you constantly saying you're sorry? Or on the flip side, do you avoid taking any kind of responsibility for hurting others? These are all insecure responses to when things go wrong in life. Say it with me, balance! You gotta find the balance in your apology life. Confident people should be quick to show empathy, discerning about what they take responsibility for, and humble in their apologies for wrongdoing. However, somehow we got it all twisted up and are apologizing for things just to "make the problems go away" but actually are taking blame we don't need. Listen for the full context!

S2 E92: She confronts sexism within purity culture
Did the church make you feel like having sex outside marriage makes you less valuable as a woman? Yikes. I bet it did, cause same! Guess what? Thankfully, that's not true. Your worth as a woman does not depreciate by the number of men you've slept with. It also does not appreciate by only having intercourse with your husband. Ope. Sorry. Not according to God. Is purity important to God? of course. But impurity comes in 10,000 different flavors and sex outside marriage is just one of them. There's a lot of work to do to remove sexism from the message of purity within churches. I'm here for the women who feel shame and unworthiness around their sexual past. The good part of being human is we all miss the mark and God renews us. Girl, none of us are pure on our own. Listen to this episode for the full context!

S2 E91: She's justified in her jealousy
Has someone called your jealousy a sign of insecurity? This is a tricky topic because it's misunderstood. You're allowed to feel jealous when someone is being unfaithful to you in friendship, business, or a romantic relationship. God has this trait, He is jealous when we worship things other than Him. This is not a flaw in God (blasphemy?) so it is not a flaw in us. Listen for the full context for this episode about having healthy expectations and standards for your relationships- and why you jealousy isn't a universal trait of insecurity.

S2 E90: She heals damage from past relationships
Time doesn't heal all wounds. This listener is searching for the courage to cut her hair even though her ex boyfriend told her she never should. If you have a question, email me at hello@rebekahbuege.com and I'll answer in an episode. Letting these limits control your life, even if they seem harmless, shrink your confidence and make you doubt yourself. In this episode, I cover how to work through actually healing from damage past relationships have done to your body image and confidence. P.S. she ended up cutting her hair and loving it! yay!

S2 E89: She knows the value of beauty
Do you feel like your beauty is only worth something if someone else sees it? Specifically, if you can use it to get attention from a guy? Yikes. I have been there, though. Beauty is valuable without anyone else seeing it. Your beauty does not need to be a tool to influence or manipulate other people into giving you attention. The relationship I used to have with my own beauty and confidence was definitely not being used to glorify God, but I'm really trying to figure out what the purpose is for me on this planet and it's been a bumpy ride. Listen to the episode for the full context!

S2 E88: She takes good care of her body
You are called to care for your body. Loving your body starts with knowing the definition of love. We have a perfect definition in scripture and it's the best way to get started fixing the relationship you have with your body. I used to hate my body and wish I could switch places with someone else. Go to www.thebodyimagesolution.com/program to get the course on how I changed this relationship with my body. To start, listen to this episode for the full context on what it looks like to really be a good steward of your body.

S2 E87: She submits to her husband (but not every man, in every scenario, always)
What does it mean to submit to your husband? Yikes. The church talks about this one a lot, but you know what they don't focus on? The character husbands need to have in order to be worthy of submission. The Proverbs 31 woman seems to be married to one heck of a man, and not every guy who shows up to church on Sundays is worthy of that type of wife. This idea of wives submitting to husbands has caused so much abuse and pain within marriages and "Christian" community. It's used to further sexism and toxic masculinity. It's turning many people away from God and rightfully so. I wouldn't want to follow a God who forced me to get married and become, essentially, a slave to my husband. Thankfully, that's not in scripture...but you sometimes get that vibe when you're around "Christian" circles. Listen to the full episode to hear my perspective on how a confident woman goes about selecting a husband who's safe to submit to. Also, read Wild at Heart and Captivating for further insight and study.

S2 E86: She trusts when she's being redirected (with Stefanie Gass from The Stefanie Gass Show)
Ever wonder what a "good Christian woman" looks like? You probably have the image of a quiet wife, loving mother, and Pinterest perfect family pictures every Christmas. There are so many more ways God is able to use you besides casting you in the role of "wife" and "mother". You can be used by God use as you are and I'm talking with Stefanie Gass about pursuing a purpose for your life that God places on your heart, whatever that may look like.

S2 E85: She frees herself from bitterness
Holding onto anger doesn't make you strong. The strongest thing you can do when you're hurting and someone refuses to give you the apology you deserve is to heal without bitterness. Listen to this episode if you're feeling bitterness or resentment towards a situation you've held onto for too long.

S2 E84: She's getting better at handling rejection
Dating is hard...for everyone involved! If you desire a godly marriage and are feeling discouraged in your dating life, this episode will give you some peace. Harsh rejection isn't fun, but sometimes it's worse when it's not communicated or clear. My hope is that as Christians, our dating interactions will be much better than those within the world, but often times they are just as bad. Listen to this episode for the full context on how I'm viewing rejection and dating at this point in my life.

S2 E83: She's done chasing perfection to prove her worth
Are you feeling like you need to prove yourself? Are there idols or social currency you're chasing to feel better about yourself? This episode unpacks a word of encouragement I felt God put on my heart for you around worthiness and striving. We are not designed to strive for perfection or resign from effort. The balance in between those two polarities is where you find true confidence.

S2 E81: She sees her body as a work of art (my boudoir photoshoot experience)
How do you shift to seeing your body as a work of art? You make art with it. I wanted to create an experience for my body where I truly felt like art, so I booked a boudoir photoshoot for myself. On this episode, I'm sharing my thoughts and takeaways, things I learned, and why I think everyone should do this.

S2 E79: (Q&A) She trusts in God's forgiveness
God's forgiveness is about God's love for you, not about how much you sin. You can send your questions to hello@rebekahbuege.com and I'll respond in an episode. This question got me all turned around because I had never considered someone might struggle to really believe they are forgiven if they are in Christ. Listen to this episode if you're feeling doubt or discouraged in God's forgiveness.
