Niven Postma has held executive positions since she was 29, in a career that has spanned multiple sectors and roles. Before starting up her own consultancy and embarking on her PhD in Organisational Behaviour, her positions included: CEO of the Businesswomen’s Association, Head

of the South African Reserve Bank Academy and Head of Leadership and Culture for the Standard Bank Group (the largest bank by assets in Africa).

Having started her career as a strategy consultant, she now works as a strategy, leadership and culture advisor for global clients in industries as diverse as financial and professional services, retail, media, transport and manufacturing.

Niven is the author of If you don’t do Politics, Politics will do you, is a Harvard Business Review and Inc. contributor, a part time tutor at Cambridge University’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and has been invited to be a guest lecturer at Stanford University. She is an expert facilitator on women’s leadership development programmes around the world and serves as the Chairman of the Board of Cotlands, an NGO that for 87 years has done cutting edge work in the Early Childhood Development sector in South Africa and beyond.

She is an advocate for empathy in leadership and is a regular speaker at HR, and Leadership Development conferences and events.


She has spoken to thousands of people across many industries and is on a personal mission to rid the work of toxic leadership. She believes everyone has the power to change for the better and coaches and mentors leaders who once believed they couldn't. Loren has a B.S. in Community Health from University of Illinois and an MBA in Organizational Behavior from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, where she also teaches Strategic Talent Management, Organizational Communications and Effective Leadership. She works for a Fortune 4 company as a learning leader in her day job and runs Loren365 consulting in her spare time where she does empathy coaching, webinars and workshops.
