Creatives High Strangeness with Ken Lehnig
What you will hear on this podcast is a conversation about creativity and my new tack; the creative connection to events and the experience of high strangeness.
We are going to go deeper into the artistic soul, and heart, that is the underpinning of all creatives. When we acknowledge our creative nature, we travel that same road. We share this journey. My own experience with high strangeness - Truthful Tall Tales is available at Barnes and Noble and most sites that sell e-books.
Creatives High Strangeness with Ken LehnigMay 28, 2022
On the New State of the World for Creatives
A conversation about high strangeness and how creatives may be more likely to have such events in their lives. How does that change reality? What is happening as a result?
On my book: Truthful Tale Tales
This is an introductory vid with me talking about the how and why of writing 'Truthful Tall Tales' a book about high-strange events that have happened in my life. This video is a part of my work on creativity and creative people. Truthful Tall Tales is available on Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Overdrive, Apple Books, Bol, and more.
The Time of Change
This is the second in a series of conversations concerning "High Strangeness" and that connection to creative people.
Creatives and the Reality of High Strangeness
I have changed the context of the podcast to explore high strange experiences This episode starts that exploration by reading the preface that did not get into my e-book "Truthful Tall Tales." In editing, it was suggested that I take it out. In the book, I recount high strange events and experiences in my life. Here is an excerpt:
"We have been taught that we are born and live, until the day we leave into a mysterious darkness. We learn that the world is ordered, and where it is not, we must attempt to make it so in our minds. We learn that we can be assured that those who rule have our best interest at heart; that the world is fair; that everything is known, or will be known, and that there is, or will be, a scientific or religious narrative that explains everything. Every intelligent, enlightened person knows better than to believe in magic, demons, ghosts, or hidden creatures."
Put it online
The importance of putting your creative work online.
You Are the Painter of Your LIfe
Everyone is born a Creative. Each of us paints on the canvas of our lives. Each choice we make is a color applied. See your life as a lifelong painting and learn the skills to paint in light and bright colors, in the choices we make.
Dealing With Trauma in a Creatives Life
We project our trauma onto others. Many creatives use trauma or past hurts in their work as I do as a songwriter. What would our creative output be if we worked at removing the effect of trauma on our work?
Take the Lid Off Fire Up Your Dreams
Are your dreams being affected by the pandemic? Creativity is connected to your dream state. Take the lid off by getting out, socializing, and traveling. Time to put the color back in your dreams.
It Begins When It Begins
There are realities in life that should make our lives better and happier if we are reminded of them. In this episode Ken chats about two such realities; 'It begins when it begins.' and 'It's over when it's over". A lesson for everyone who is or wants to live a creative life.
Willingness to be Astonished
Be mindful of feelings of resentment, hate, fear, and either/or thinking. Allow yourself to be awed and astonished by the world and the people around you. Creativity is as much a mindset as it is a practice. Reality is nuanced and textured that is part of the grist of being creative. The more we pigeonhole and narrow our perceptions the narrower the creative view and thus creative manifestation. The more open-minded you are the more truthful, honest, and powerful your creative output will be.
Commonality of Hearts
A controversial talk on the fear and lies we buy into. Our thoughts and opinions are not who we are. The most certain thing that every human has in common, beyond religion, politics, culture, prejudice, is a heart. Creativity may be more a function of benefits of openness and love than the transient and either/or machinations of our minds.
A chat about how a seed in the past can manifest itself in the creative projects in the present.
Creatives Attention: Call to Action
IMPORTANT: I have posted more than 70 episodes of this podcast. If you have listened to any of them I am appreciative. This episode is the most CONTROVERSIAL and the most important one I have produced. If you haven't listened to any of my talks do listen to this one.
Why do I get creative ennui?
As Creatives we all have those terrible times when a new project won't come. You can get sad, anxious, depressed. You may even feel as if you were never a creative person at all, it was just a one-off accident. It feels as if the block is permanent. I hope to cast some light on this unpleasant part of a Creatives life and some ways to work through it.
Ken reads his poem: The Troll of Lampswick
A reading of my poem The Troll of Lampwick from my anthology book Strange Reflection available on Amazon Books
A timely fairy tale about the abuse and neglect of children in an uncaring world.
Creatives: There is no reason for a Creative to be arrogant.
In all the possible worlds and civilizations in this galaxy alone, we live on a tiny speck of sand with 8 billion mites upon it. Who of us creative or not should be arrogant? We as creatives are here to create light and be available to lift up others.
Creatives: Ken Interviews Annalyn Lehnig

Creatives: A short story reading by Author Ken Lehnig
I'm adding a new element to the show. I will do readings in the months ahead of weird and strange poems and stories from the books in my Sozzel the Jongleur series. Available at Amazon Books.
I will also be doing interviews with Creatives, wonderful people who have much to impart to us all.
This reading is from Strange Reflections 'Brando's Bane'. The setting is sometime in the eighties, in a downtown cafe, in the middle of a rainy night. Two good friends share memories and a very strange story The characters use rough and controversial language I suggest 16+
The So-Called Negative Traits of Creatives
This is an eye-opening talk on the so-called negative traits of creative people. Perception is the key to understanding how Creatives function and the need for a harder look at the way society is put together and the need for more of these negative traits in this world.
Keep the Light On
There is a light at the end of the tunnel. We are coming out of a dark time. We will need to reconnect with friends and family and get our hearts in close proximity. It is up to us to make the new world a light-filled place. All creativity needs to be switched on.
(I apologize for not posting on time. I have had computer problems- fixed.)
In a time where you can't do much and every answer to the question 'Can I be with friends or family?' the answer is "No. you don't have permission. It's important to find where you as a Creative and a human being can give yourself permission, saying yes in your life is critical in the age of "NO!"It is important for us all to re-invigorate and restore our humanity.
Start a Project Even If You Don't Have A Clue
When you are blocked, work on your skill sets. While you are working the light will find you. Ken discusses his creative process in songwriting from the page to the studio.
Fearful? You should be angry.
Many, these days, have had some dark days. The narrative is designed to have us all live in an extended and purposefully obscure fear, a condition unhealthy and damaging to us as human beings. Ken rants a bit about the damage done in buying a political, economic, and health narrative that is the antithesis of what it is to be human. the negative narrative throws us off our life track and prevents the start of creative projects at a time where every Creative should be the most productive.
The importance of recognizing that every creative output has a lineage. It is in the human makeup to be creative and the proof of that goes back as long as there have been humans. Honoring what you do as a creative is connecting you to a family line, perhaps in your DNA but possibly at an even higher level.
Meaning, Significance, and Process
Everyone can be Creative if it is declared and effort is made to develop the skillsets to bring vision to reality. This talk examines the creative track of insight, meaning, significance, process, and completion.
Here I Am
Finding a new project is easy when you are open and aware of your surrounding. The brain memorizes what you know in the world and only really sees what is different - distinction making. Seeing and finding meaning in what you see is the art of being a Creative.
Meaning for a Creative
Meaning is personal, unique, and a gift to every human being. The universe will communicate vitality and enlightenment to us if we allow it. Finding meaning in everyday events is what makes living worthwhile and the perfect place for a human and a creative to start. Finding meaning in the moment and not figuring it out is the domain of creativity and artistry. Find meaning in your work and allowing those that experience it to find their own meaning.
A chat about tidiness and meaning in the creative process.
Thoughts on Living as a Creative
Ken shares his insights on being a Creative with personal shares and ways to keep the creative fires burning.
Raise Your Vibration
Being creative requires being at a high vibratory level. Love, grace, forgiveness, generosity are high vibratory states. Anger, hate, close-mindedness, are low and debilitating states. Creatives as lightworkers have a responsibility to maintain a high vibratory state. Everything that is a reality now is the antithesis of the best in humanity; lockdowns, social distancing, economic upset, political turmoil. Be wary that you don't succumb keep your humanness and high spirit. Pray, meditate, create.
Is Good Enough, Good enough?
Looking at the process of creativity and why some projects run out of energy and the creative losing enthusiasm for the project. The talk also looks into the process of collaborative projects and the 'Good Enough' outcome of most projects.
Perception and Reality
As a human and as a creative being open to new experiences is vital. It may be that reality isn't what we think, perhaps no more than cultural or relational agreement. It may be that the universe inspires to have creatives generate a broader understanding of the nature of reality. Are we in a matrix of agreement. As we experience more are view of reality is altered and creatives are part of that expansion of our view of reality.
It's Better If We Are Human. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and a Blessed new Year. It's too easy to think that are troubles and worries are who we are. Creativity removes you from trials and tribulations of your life. We choose the life we have and can choose to step outside of the noise.
Go Be Inspired
In this crazy time, it is more important than ever to be unmoved by the mundane, exhausting, distractions the world produces and be consciously aware of the creative reality around us. Seeing and experiencing the creative works of others can trigger creative responses in us. Being moved by another's work is one of the fastest ways to bring down the attention of the muse to yourself. Once you open your eyes to the near-infinite varieties of expression in all mediums you will be more confident and prepared to express your own vision.
Every Human is a Creative
How many times have you heard "I am not creative." Every human beings is creative they have just shut down the potential by living a life of mechanical habit. The talk is what to do to find the creative spark in both creative folks and those who want to find that spark.
Let's Be Human Beings
It very clear to us all that the anger and divisiveness that exists in the world today is not in humanities best interest. Media and the political class have given up on truth and integrity. There is no correct side. A Creative has the responsibility to spread light, and most importantly. not propaganda. We are given the gift of being human it is a flawed and damaged place in ourselves if we use it to generate fear, hate, pain, violence, or destruction. Spreading light (enlightenment) is the true purpose of a Creative.
Work Your Skillsets
Being a creative need not put pressure on you to produce something profound every time. Each new skill you acquire is an opportunity. Everything you create is a source of light for others and each new skill you acquire moves you along the road `to a masterpiece. Enjoy the process.
Owning Our Creativity
In this time of concern, fear, and anxiety, creativity is often stifled. But our creative natures transcend the concerns of the time. Owning our creativity is now more important than ever.
Uncertainty to Possibility
thanks for all your well wishes and prayers. I am recovering from the ordeal of open heart surgery - not a journey for the faint of heart! ;)
During these times when all you have done has been taken away and you are left with that dreaded thought "What do I do now?" It is hard to get that your are the creator of your reality - making your life is a creative act. We all cam become complacent and forgetful of who we really are.
We are light!
Please forgive me for not being around for a few weeks. I unfortunately had to visit a heart surgeon- an open heart bypass was the result. I am doing very well, I will admit it is a journey I only want to do once. This episode was the one to be published on the weekend of my adventure.
Science is discovering remarkable attributes in the nature of matter, in that, it is made up of photons. Photons have been proven to bond with DNA. That alone raises many questions about we humans and more importantly for this podcast the nature of our creative output.
Being a New Person
If one thinks about why people say they are not creative, I think you will find that there is some anxiety or fear in the prospect of even starting on a project. Any first time experience from a first date, job interview, meeting new friends, trying a new recipe, having a baby, buying a house is difficult and wrought with anxiety. Even creative people have first time anxiety in using a new medium, being quite complacent in what they know. We are creatures of habit and changing any habit is leaping into the unknown. Being and staying a Creative is the process of being a new person over and over again. Live is meant to evolve. Jump in the water is fine.
Be the Evolution
A creative person is open to a fluid universe and recognizes that we as humans are also fluid. It's how we as humans evolve. We are not black and white creatures. No one agrees with everything on either side of cultural issues. It is dishonest and evil to shame anyone for their beliefs , any more than someone telling a creative that what they are doing is wrong, shamming them for a choice of color. Creativity is what moves and reflects the good and bad in us and allows us to see truth in the clouded, truthful or fraudulent, aspects of culture
The Universe and Human Beings are Dynamic
In this time of hard positions the truth will be revealed. The universe is dynamic and ever-changing. It is the same for human beings. Creatives must take the lead in leading us forward. Open minds and hearts are what is needed in everyone..
When the Muse Leaves You
There are those times when you are not inspired to creative action. Perhaps the muse is just being patient and waiting for you to be inspired but what happens around you, or maybe there is a time already determined when your effort is needed in the world. For me , I always work on a project even if I'm not inspired, just to keep up my skills and perhaps what I create is meant to inspire something else and that was what you have been patiently waiting for.
Lockdown and the Surge of Creativity
Is this pandemic creating a surge if creativity? The lockdown, social distancing and mask wearing is the antithesis of what it is to be human. I believe the universe is feeding us much more creative energy than before. Our basic humanity is being threatened by our leaders and the creative energy flooding in is the remedy to return us to our healthy and balanced human state.
Creatives: Create and Relax
In this time of fear and concern a way to stay healthy and happy is to be creative. Being in the creative process puts the brain in a different mode. Fear causes a fight, stay frozen, or flight response and being locked down and afraid is unhealthy. Working on a creative project will take the stress off the mind and body. Even if you don't consider yourself creative now is the time to look at what creative projects may interest you.
Time To Be Human Again.
There is no denying that there is a "pandemic" but what we are now doing in response is the antithesis of being human. We as humans are not designed to be in a months long state of fear and anxiety that will cause more serious health issues than Covid 19. We must put a stop to the fear-mongering and get on with being human beings. Creativity is at stake here and the need is more important than ever.
Is creative energy increasing?
In this weird and stressful time of concern and fear being a creative is difficult. Are you finding that you are searching for a way to keep your creativity active? Perhaps the creative energies are needed and are coming in a different and more urgent manner.
Creatives: Can you quantify creativity?
The question is- Can you quantify creativity? Is creativity teachable in a" 1;2;3;4;done" format? Ken's take on what is quantifiable and what isn't as to being a creative.
Creatives: Fear kills creativity
The makeup of the body and mind is spiritual, cellular, and chemical. What you think and the emotional state you are in has a direct effect on your health and well being. Creativity is a natural state optimized by health, peace and happiness. If we acknowledge that we are all creatives then this time colored by doubt and fear will have minimal influence on us. Work at being happy even if outside influences are telling you to be isolated and fearful. This too shall pass.
