#332 Camp Clips 19 | Having all of your partners back | Join our Community

Use these responses when a coach criticizes our partners or just use it anytime that you want to evoke an empathetic response from the coach after they let off steam. How do you respond when a coach calls your partner horrible? What about awful? What about terrible? Many officials that we've polled on this topic say they would NOT give a technical foul if they were in this situation.⁣ ⁣ We think officials need to adopt the philosophy that if something happens to someone in the crew then it happens to everyone in the crew. No matter who you work with, have EVERYONE's back the SAME. That means having a first time partner's back the same way you would with your closest referee friend. After calling a technical foul, avoid pointing at a player or coach as it can be seen as an irritant or antagonistic. Instead, have the patience to report it to the table so they can help notify everyone. Respect the game and professional communication towards officials are standards that all of us should look to meet each game.⁣ ⁣ ❤️𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆⁣ Patreon.com/crownrefs⁣ ⁣ 🎶 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗸 𝗧𝗼𝗸⁣ https://www.tiktok.com/@crownrefs?_t=8cv8RyeL7ve&_r=1⁣ ⁣ 📷 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗚⁣ https://instagram.com/crownrefs?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==⁣ ⁣ 📖 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲⁣ https://medium.com/@crownrefs/sundayswish3-491fad98f57b⁣ ⁣ ⁣💌 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿⁣ https://conta.cc/3C7gVt8⁣ ⁣ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲⁣ https://sideline.bsnsports.com/schools/new_york/hartsdale/crown-refs⁣ ⁣ 𝟭𝟱% 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿⁣ (Enter CROWN15)⁣ Refereestore.com

J.B. Caldwell has been one of the officiating industry's top educators for quite some time now and is still as motivated as ever. More impressively, he's been able to build a loyal community of highly-skilled and dedicated officials who've been able to seasonally grow their game under his guidance and tutelage. It was an absolute pleasure. Remember to close down in the lead position when the ball travels across the basket line to the weak side. We are noticing that some officials are positioned too wide and disconnected from the matchup by trying to ref it from across the paint while looking through players. When we properly explain our calls using rule-based terminology we stand as the experts and can avoid trying to "sell the call" and using debate language. If you can't explain it then don't call it. Replacing "on the floor" with "before the shot" when waving off a shot attempt and Ree-in Knysch sticks around for a little extra signal work after the game.⁣ ⁣ When a player begins to trash talk we have to instantly respond whether that's with our words or by applying the rules as written. We've all experienced the feeling of an overwhelming moment and a lack of game control. Usually, these moments can occur during confrontations between opponents with multiple players involved. Being a great partner comes in so many different ways! Bringing in 100% information is one of the many.⁣ ⁣ ❤️𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆⁣ Patreon.com/crownrefs⁣ ⁣ 🎶 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗸 𝗧𝗼𝗸⁣ https://www.tiktok.com/@crownrefs?_t=8cv8RyeL7ve&_r=1⁣ ⁣ 📷 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗚⁣ https://instagram.com/crownrefs?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==⁣ ⁣ 📖 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲⁣ https://medium.com/@crownrefs/sundayswish3-491fad98f57b⁣ ⁣ ⁣💌 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿⁣ https://conta.cc/3C7gVt8⁣ ⁣ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲⁣ https://sideline.bsnsports.com/schools/new_york/hartsdale/crown-refs⁣ ⁣ 𝟭𝟱% 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿⁣ (Enter CROWN15)⁣ Refereestore.com

Team A is in control in the front court when A2 and B2 intentionally pull each other to the ground. What's the correct NFHS ruling? Reporting the correct foul type shows that you are self-aware and have full clarity on the play. Don't rush any of the steps and always be thorough. With so much screening activity in today's game, illegal screens are fouls that we ponder calling many times throughout a contest. Getting them wrong can be game interruptions, so it's important to let them call themselves and make sure we are 1000% when we blow the whistle. During the first free throw, will you cross half court to speak with a coach or is it unfair to the game to be that far out of position.⁣ ⁣ Avoid being reactionary to contact especially when it's initiated by the offense, having a lack of patience leads to reactionary decisions and incorrect calls. Just because players hit the floor doesn't mean that we need to always have a whistle on that play. Avoid speaking in absolutes as every play is different. Whenever opponents are talking to one another it should be an automatic trigger to be proactive and use our voices to de-escalate the situation.⁣ ⁣ ❤️𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆⁣ Patreon.com/crownrefs⁣ ⁣ 🎶 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗸 𝗧𝗼𝗸⁣ https://www.tiktok.com/@crownrefs?_t=8cv8RyeL7ve&_r=1⁣ ⁣ 📷 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗚⁣ https://instagram.com/crownrefs?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==⁣ ⁣ 📖 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲⁣ https://medium.com/@crownrefs/sundayswish3-491fad98f57b⁣ ⁣ ⁣💌 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿⁣ https://conta.cc/3C7gVt8⁣ ⁣ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲⁣ https://sideline.bsnsports.com/schools/new_york/hartsdale/crown-refs⁣ ⁣ 𝟭𝟱% 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿⁣ (Enter CROWN15)⁣ Refereestore.com

Getting together on time-outs is a great way to show chemistry & improve the dynamics of the crew. Be mindful when getting together to not judge previous plays or dwell on perceived mistakes. Next play mentality. Eliminating the unnecessary signals only simplifies things for us and can help us stay out of "trouble". Don't anticipate a foul when and where the contact might take place. This tip was in response to a trapping play in the corner with multiple defenders but can be applied across all lines.⁣ ⁣ We also cover the importance of not penalizing the defense on offensive-initiated contact plays. Be ready to help out on rebounding plays in trail, especially on jump shots which can create long rebounds and extended coverage. Surprise comment from a coach during postgame, stay even-keeled and don't let positive affirmation gas you up nor let criticism bring you down.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ❤️𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆⁣ Patreon.com/crownrefs⁣ ⁣ 🎶 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗸 𝗧𝗼𝗸⁣ https://www.tiktok.com/@crownrefs?_t=8cv8RyeL7ve&_r=1⁣ ⁣ 📷 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗚⁣ https://instagram.com/crownrefs?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==⁣ ⁣ 📖 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲⁣ https://medium.com/@crownrefs/sundayswish3-491fad98f57b⁣ ⁣ ⁣💌 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿⁣ https://conta.cc/3C7gVt8⁣ ⁣ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲⁣ https://sideline.bsnsports.com/schools/new_york/hartsdale/crown-refs⁣ ⁣ 𝟭𝟱% 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿⁣ (Enter CROWN15)⁣ Refereestore.com

We discuss the importance of repetition and consistency as the way to grow, make sure to tuck all of your fingers when pointing as we don't want our points to resemble a handgun. Keeping your signals even, straight, and not rushing the 5-second count. We focus on presenting the numbers to the table by having our hand's shoulder width while at face level and maintaining good posture.⁣ ⁣ Remember to always be big and stay big. Here's another unapproved signal we should ALL use to clearly narrate the type of foul that occurred. You can also indicate this at the spot of the foul before reporting it to the table. It's interesting how most of us say hit and fail to report the proper "illegal use of hands" foul. Why do you think this is? This NCAA-M signal is best to use when a defender jumps A to B, jumps side to side or jumps diagonally into the shooter.⁣ ⁣ ❤️𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆⁣ Patreon.com/crownrefs⁣ ⁣ 🎶 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗸 𝗧𝗼𝗸⁣ https://www.tiktok.com/@crownrefs?_t=8cv8RyeL7ve&_r=1⁣ ⁣ 📷 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗚⁣ https://instagram.com/crownrefs?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==⁣ ⁣ 📖 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲⁣ https://medium.com/@crownrefs/sundayswish3-491fad98f57b⁣ ⁣ ⁣💌 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿⁣ https://conta.cc/3C7gVt8⁣ ⁣ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲⁣ https://sideline.bsnsports.com/schools/new_york/hartsdale/crown-refs⁣ ⁣ 𝟭𝟱% 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿⁣ (Enter CROWN15)⁣ Refereestore.com

#314 Camp clips 13 | Why I joined Crown Refs

The 13th installment of our Camp Clips series, Crown Refs is always looking for more high character individuals like Brandon who love officiating and would appreciate being a part of a special community of referees. Our program was built to get stronger with each new member we add. Montrell talks about why he enjoys being a part of the Crown Refs Mentor Community and how the program has developed him as an official. Jake was an official that we worked with long before ⁣ ⁣ Crown Refs and we appreciate his continued support and engagement in our community. He continues to greatly devlop each year and we ar excited for his ascension up the industry ladder. Roger Ayers talks about what a dream come true it was to officiate the Final Four game between Duke & UNC. Then we are back to signal school for tips on adding an additional layer of information on new directional points. As well as covering the best way to change your partner out of bounds call and also the best way to ask for help on an out-of-bounds play. We've all experienced the feeling of moving too fast on the basketball court both mentally and physically. Rushing only leads to mistakes in all walks of life and that's why it's essential to try and master the skills of patience and poise. In such a wildly emotional game we have to be the emotionally mature ones who are capable of being the bigger person at ALL times. ⁣ ⁣ 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆⁣ Patreon.com/crownrefs⁣ ⁣ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲⁣ https://sideline.bsnsports.com/schools/new_york/hartsdale/crown-refs⁣ ⁣ 𝗕𝘂𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿⁣ Refereestore.com

#313 Camp Clips 12 | Positive Self-Talk Only

The 12th installment of our Camp Clips series, Paul describes what the origin of signal school and demonstrates all of the different signals in the workout. Paul provides a couple cues that will help add strength and polish such as - PUNCH THE SKY and Copy & Paste. How many of us have incorrectly called a 5-second violation because we succumbed to the pressure of everyone yelling for 5 seconds and anticipated the call? Practice your hand count with a visible timer to build that automatic muscle memory. One of the benefits of signal school is fine-tuning all of the things that you may not realize. We provide the 3-step technique when presenting the block signal and we discuss the subtle differences between on the spot vs at the table. Just like players who work on their left hand to expand their skill set, as officials we should have that same approach. I hope this conversation can help at least one person who's felt the same way that Taylor has and realize that our weaknesses have the opportunity to become our greatest strength. Remember to build yourself up with positive self-talk and eliminate the language that has insecurity in it. Thank you to tiktok for all your feedback as we appreciate you taking time out of your day to share your thoughts on our content and thanks to Montrell Cade for attending signal school and being kind enough to give his reaction about the routine. #300 Mastering the Crafts | feat. Gene Steratore | Super Bowl & NCAA tournament Referee | CBS Rules

Welcome to the 300th episode of the Crown Refs Podcast. We can’t thank you enough for your continued support as it’s been a driving force behind us being able to hit this small milestone.⁣ ⁣ Gene Steratore is a flat-out officiating legend who’s worked in the Super Bowl, and the NCAA tournament, and is currently the CBS Rules Analyst for the NFL & College Basketball. For an official to have this type of seasoning is rare and we are super honored to have Gene share his knowledge and experience with the Crown Refs Community.⁣ ⁣ In this episode, we discuss the early tutelage Gene had growing up in a family of officials and how it impacted his long career both on and off the court/field. We went in-depth into communication and game management as Gene shared and simulated numerous ways to effectively respond to the coach. ⁣ ⁣ We also covered the superpowers of empathy, kindness, and integrity and why every official should exemplify those traits.  ⁣ ⁣ We hope you enjoy this episode and learn a ton.

Officiating is a sisterhood & brotherhood that helps you form life-long relationships and leads to high-levels of self development and growth as a human being. Will Fried gives us some of the biggest things he's gained from becoming an official and how it has positively changed his life. Crown Refs is an all-inclusive community that supports one another to the fullest. ⁣ ⁣ We are so proud of the camaraderie and positive culture that we have in the group and each member we add continues to embody those values. Thanks for being part of our family Will! If you disagree then you're deploying judgement towards a person's appearance rather than judgement towards their performance. It's wildly acceptable for players and coaches to have tattoos, so why can't officials??⁣ ⁣ 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆⁣ Patreon.com/crownrefs⁣ ⁣ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲⁣ https://sideline.bsnsports.com/schools/new_york/hartsdale/crown-refs⁣ ⁣ 𝗕𝘂𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿⁣ Refereestore.com
