Chrissy Holm is a Leadership and Mental Performance Consultant for Premier Sports Psychology in Minnesota. They work with various athletic teams including the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota Twins. Premier Sports Psychology is partnered with Profile to utilize our assessment software within their organization and leadership initiatives. In this episode, Shailen and Chrissy dive deeper into a previously touched topic, mental health. Contrary to popular belief, expecting and asking athletes to always be positive while dealing with negative emotions can be detrimental to their performance. Chrissy has plenty of experience on both sides of this topic. She was a D1 rower for the University of Michigan, won a gold medal with the USA U23 team, and even coached rowing at the University of Minnesota while pursuing her Doctorate. Jackie Carson has been the head women's basketball coach at Furman University for over a decade. Among her accolades, she is the only person, both male and female to win both Player of the Year and Coach of the Year in league history. Kyleigh had a college career that was nothing short of impressive. JUCO product Kyleigh helped lead KCC to an NJCAA D2 National Title while being an All-American selection. Continuing her success at Purdue Northwest, she capped off her career as the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Player of the Year. She was also an NCAA Division II National Fastpitch Coaches Association Third Team All-America selection. But, throughout her career, leadership has always been her most significant asset.
