"A new set of eyes" For those that know me, I say this with tongue in cheek.  (LOL) But, seriously, if we choose to grow, one of the ways to do so is to understand that change is inevitable.  We must embrace change to create a better version of ourselves.  Make Today and every day a Masterpiece!

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Experience is the best teacher?” Some people will argue that there are certain things you can’t know unless you go through them. And so they encourage exploration, trying all kinds of things, and making mistakes. I think those things are valuable, but for every person who comes out of a challenging experience better than what they would have been otherwise, the Bible offers another option. That option is called wisdom.

Proverbs 4:10 says, “Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many.” In the following verses, we see a father speak about wisdom to live and avoid stumbling and avoid evil, which ultimately lead to brighter days.

There is ample discussion about the best styles of authority and how to emulate them, but far less about the more nuanced attributes of excellent leadership… until now.

Depending on what books or articles you read, there are more than twenty different leadership styles. An autocratic leader, for example, is generally a unilateral decision-maker, while a democratic one encourages input before making decisions. A delegative style, meanwhile, assigns responsibility and decision-making to other managers. But, as with most things in life, style is not nearly as important as substance.

Sharpen the Saw means preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have–you. It means having a balanced program for self-renewal in the four areas of your life: physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual.

A “ready” leader is self-aware. He knows what he/she values and why. Most importantly he/she understands the implications of those values and acts accordingly. Both his/her behavior, and decision-making, is values-based.

Do you hate delivering bad news to people at work because you are unsure how they will respond? Maybe you occasionally have knee jerk reactions to bad news? If you're shooting the messenger, you could be killing your company and career!

Leadership requires a great deal of compassion. When you’re in a leadership role, you’re forced to look at others in a critical light, especially when you’re managing groups of people. You’re evaluating other people’s performance, contributions to team efforts, etc.

I don't mean faith in the religious sense.

Leadership is about earning and retaining the faith of others.

It's not about being ego-driven and charismatic versus being selfless and soft-spoken. These are personal qualities that have little to do with leadership. It's not about being a taskmaster versus being a nurturing presence.

If you want to be a leader, your focus needs to be on earning the faith of people around you.

Golf teaches you that it's not your setbacks that define you — it's how you bounce back that matters. Learning to handle disappointments and hard moments off the course with grace helps you get ahead in life, too.

Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins..  James 4:17  -- Being intentional in the lives of those you care about is so important right now.  We need participants not spectators.

The main difference between leaders and managers is that leaders have people follow them while managers have people who work for them. A successful business owner needs to be both a strong leader and manager to get their team on board to follow them towards their vision of success.  Which one are you?

Now think of the domino effect. If you’ve played with dominos before, then you know that a single push of one domino that’s part of a sequence of dominos is enough to knock them all down one after the other.

The amazing thing is that a single domino can actually knock down one that’s bigger than the first, up to 50% larger. So mathematically speaking, this is called geometric progression — even if your first domino is only 2” tall, it could later topple objects as high as a building, a mountain, and eventually, even the distance of the earth to the moon.

Time plays a significant role in our life. Time helps us make a good habit of structuring and organizing our daily activities. If you understand the value of time better, you can gain experience and develop skills over time. Time is the most valuable resource because you cannot take it back.  What are you going to do with your 86400??

Focus is so important because it is the gateway to all thinking: perception, memory, learning, reasoning, problem solving, and decision making. ... And if you can't think effectively, you definitely can't produce the quality of work necessary to be successful.

Giving has been proven to decrease blood pressure and reduce stress. This reduction promotes longer life and better health. Giving promotes social connection. Studies show that when you give to others, your generosity is often continued down the line to someone else, or returned to you.
