The death of Mahsa Amini in police custody in September of 2022 set Iranian public opinion on fire, sparking mass unrest and civic protests on a scale unprecedented in the history of the Islamic Republic. Join us for a discussion about the movement that her tragic death inspired, and hear from experts Dr. Jeffrey Kaplan and Professor Rózsa Erzsébet about what this movement means for Iran, and for its geopolitical position in the region.

Global energy issues
In this episode of A Metter of Perspective, geopolitical podcast series of the Danube Institute, we discuss some very current questions related to the global energy situation. Our guests, Tamás Pletser, oil and gas industry analyst at the Erste, and Fanni Korpics, research fellow of the Danube Institute answered questions related to the shift from fossil fuels to alternative energy resources, to the role of international cooperation, and to the solutions to the upcoming energy crisis. There are several different feasible scenarios and they agreed that further research is definitely essential to uncover them.

Defence policy and military spending in Central Europe

Past achievements and future challenges of the V4 cooperation
With the war in our neighborhood and its impact on the Visegrád Group, it is more important than ever to remind ourselves of the achievements and all the challenges we went through successfully in the past 30 years of cooperation within the framework of the V4. In this episode we are discussing the first year of Joe Biden, both in regards to US domestic policy and foreign affairs. We were discussing the achievements and failures of the new American administration. For this episode our invited experts were Tamás Magyarics, Professor at the School of English and American Studies, ELTE, Budapest, the Chair of its American Studies Department, and a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for American Studies at the National University of Public Service, as well as a Guest Professor at IES, Vienna. He served as Ambassador to Ireland in 2011-2015, and was the Head of the North American Department at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2015-2016. Our second guest was István Kiss, political scientist and an international relations expert, managing director of Danube Institute. Research project - Anti-Semitism in Hungary
This is a special issue of The Matter of Perspective - geopolitical podcast of the Danube Institute. In this episode we are discussing the research project conducted by Jeffrey Kaplan, distinguished fellow at Danube Institute, and some of our researchers, who have also participated in the project.
