Church PTSD
If you've not managed to catch it yet, here's this week's Faithroots Podcast to listen to. We talk about how a church family collectively can experience a form of PTSD due to events in the life of the church.
Key things:
Causes can include: loss and bereavement including death, the departure of longstanding members or the retirement of a pastor. Other causes might include division and splits, false accusation, abuse and serious sin.
A church that has suffered PTSD will see its culture and outlook affected. This might have an impact on tone and content in worship and teaching, relationships within the church and relationships with others.
Churches that have been through traumatic experiences may benefit from revitalisation.

Facing Depression - when healing does not come
We often treat depression differently to other illnesses. Whilst we expect that not everyone will be healed from physical conditions, we seem to see it as a defeat if someone goes on living with chronic or recurring bouts of mental illness. But is that what God's Word actually says? And if not then how can I live with something that is permanent - or at least long term in a way that is holy?
