The Show UP Dad
By David Mendonca
As Fathers, we sometimes underestimate the influence we wield in our homes. Our Passion is to "Ignite the Fire for Father Engagement".
What would your life be like if you felt celebrated rather than merely tolerated at home?
As a father, I have experienced the void created by my absence. I know what it's like to chase success in the workplace while your family falls to second place.
This is a podcast for Hard working Fathers looking to level up the Fathering skills and be more than just a paycheck or provider for the home.

Conquering Stress with Action, With Fitness Coach Cory Cordero
Conquering Stress with Action, With Fitness Coach Cory Cordero
🎙️Todays guest in none other than Cory Cordero
💪🏻He is a fitness coach/entrepreneur/father. He has been in the fitness industry for over 10+ years and loves to help men supercharge their fitness and skyrocket their energy and self-confidence by building a body they are proud of.
He is the proud single father of two boys ( 4 years old and 2 years old)
IN this Episode we discuss: Stress⚡and How to Conquer it thru Action.
🇺🇸According to the Anxiety & Depression Assoc of America,
It’s impossible to eliminate, but you can learn to manage stress, and most people usually do. According to a recent ADAA online poll, some 14 percent of people make use of regular exercise to cope with stress.
🔺Cory talks with us about Mental health and how you can use physical activity to deal with stress as a positive outlet.
🔺He shares with us the difference between Stress and Pressure.
🔺When stress affects the brain, with its many nerve connections, the rest of the body feels the impact as well. So it stands to reason that if your body feels better, so does your mind. Exercise and other physical activity produce endorphins—chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers—and also improve the ability to sleep, which in turn reduces stress.
Join us on this this exclusive podcast episode as we unlock what we can do as men to deal with the stress this life brings.

Overcoming Your Past, "Becoming YOU"
Overcoming Your Past, "Becoming YOU"
In this Episode I had the privilege of Interviewing Nathan Kirby.
He is 47 years old, a professional athlete , coach and keynote speaker who has been on countless shows. He has been married 26 years and a father to 2 boys Colton who is 24 and a Navy Officer in flight school and Ashton 21 who is ranked the 1# light weight in the US.
I Recently say Nathan on an episode of Family Feud with Steve Harvey, were he demonstrated his skills in MMA with his son Ashton.
I thought it was so amazing how this father had raised and trained his son and how insane they both were.
🔺Fighting your demons.
🔺Looking for that role model to guide him.
🔺Being abused by stepdad and having to find forgiveness towards him.
🔺His emotional Turmoil and Physical pain.
🔺what are you being recognized as?
🔺Being Lawless and learning to make the change to become who he was called to be.
Nathan has coached 1000s of kids to overcome self doubt and become confident champions.
In this episode I learned that as fathers are children need us to help them with their identity, not shut it down.

Thru A Daughters Eyes
Thru A Daughters Eyes
My special Guest in non other than my beautiful Daughter Nekodah Cashlin Mendonca, She is 16 and is my 1st born.
It is said that the 1st born is a exact replica of her father.
I guess the big question for alot of fathers is what do our kids think.
On our Show we have heard from the Mothers perspective, the fathers perspective, and know I interview my daughter to get her perspective on what it is like to be a daughter, and how little Dads actually know what is going on in their lives.
In this episode we talk about:
🔺What not to Say to our Daughters.
🔺Giving them the space to grow.
🔺 The Right and Wrong time to barge in their rooms.
🔺How Pushing for answers causes more problems.
🔺Letting them Process there emotions. Giving them space to come to you.
🔺Building trust with them.
🔺Being the 1st born is rough on both the parents and the kids.
🔺Detachment and avoidance behaviors.
So proud of my daughter to get on here and share her feelings with so many listeners. Took amazing courage.

"To He Who Overcomes," Overcoming Life's obstacles.
Todays Guest is Pablo Huerta.
He is a apprentice linesmen, and a father to 2 beautiful girls. He has been in the trade for around 3 years. He grew up In Monrovia, California were he spent most of his childhood in the Juvenile system.
What inspired me to invite him on our show was a Podcast he did were he talked about all the adversity he had to go thru and overcome.
The reason we go thru hardships is because of choices alot of times. But we cant let that define us. What i mean by that is we cannot allow our circumstances to creat in us a victim mentality. And that is is what Drew me to Pablo.
I saw a man who made mistakes and wanted better for himself and for his daughters.
Podcast Take Aways:
🔺Incarceration from the age of 14-28
🔺Spending Time in Pelican Bay Facility.
🔺How his dad never gave up on him.
🔺Asking for Help and checking your ego.
🔺Being made for more
🔺Realizing your worth in Life.
🔺Having a daughter with special Needs.

“Selfless service”: American hero, Memorial Day Episode.
First and foremost I want to thank the Men and Women who paid the Ultimate Sacrifice for this Great Nation.

After extensive experience in conflict areas in those capacities, Sabio now serves as an independent consultant and philanthropist, sharing his expertise in international security matters and working to help others in need.
Sabio pulled off an astounding and dangerous solo mission to rescue a boy from war-torn Ukraine, shortly after the Russian invasion.
Fifteen-year-old Ukrainian-American Timur McAlicher was living in Kyiv, Ukraine with his mother, while his father lived in the United States. McAlicher’s parents wanted their son to leave Ukraine for the U.S. after the invasion, but were having difficulty arranging for him to leave the country.
“Tony had to really think on his feet. He had already been 27 hours without sleep at that point, and still moving, and he was right in the middle of the conflict.
He Opens up about having to
“Make those sharp decisions and his key mindset, and really, his dedication to that mission, got him thru it.
“As a father, he could understand, as with all parents, what if that was our kid?
“What would we want someone else to do to help our kid?…

FatherHood can Trigger PTSD in Men, Andy Marr Former Green Beret Journey from the brink.
Fathers are 40 percent more likely to experience symptoms of PTSD than men without children. That's bad news for children.
For many people with PTSD, avoidance is seen as a means of managing symptoms by removing themselves from stressful situations.
individuals with PTSD often view power, trust, control, and intimacy in a warped fashion, leading to violent conflict with romantic partners and family members, and can cause a father to misinterpret a child’s harmless behaviors as imminent threats. “When kids are active they can misbehave, and it can cause difficulties in how parents interpret that behavior as if it’s on purpose, when really it’s just kids being kids.
Our Special Guest Sergeant First Class Andrew Marr is a Special Forces Green Beret, Co-Founder of Warrior Angels Foundation, and co-author of Tales From the Blast Factory: A Brain Injured Special Forces Green Beret's Journey Back FromThe Brink. From Darkness to Light Episode
From Darkness to Light Episode
Special Guest Hassan Daniel, Founder and CEO of the Father Factory, will discuss fathers with childhood histories of sexual abuse and how they can heal and become the fathers they want to be and their families need them to be.
The trauma that results from sexual abuse is a syndrome that affects not just the victim and their family, but all of society. Because sexual abuse, molestation, and rape are such shame-filled events, our culture tends to suppress information about them.
Some of the most startling statistics unearthed during research into sexual abuse are that children are three times as likely to be victims of rape than adults, and that stranger abuse constitutes by far the minority of cases. It is more likely for a child to experience sexual abuse at the hands of a family member or another supposedly trustworthy adult.
By far the most common effect of sexual abuse is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Symptoms can extend far into adulthood and can include withdrawn behavior, reenactment of the traumatic event, avoidance of circumstances that remind one of the event, and physiological hyper-reactivity

The "INFLUENCE" we wield as Fathers with Nathan Padilla
The "INFLUENCE" we wield as Fathers with Nathan Padilla
Nathan Padilla is a licensed counselor with La Familia Mental Health Services..
When a young man becomes a father before he is ready, Padilla is there to mentor him and teach him how to be the kind of father he truly wants to be. Padilla says “As a single father who started in recovery I can see where these young men are coming from.”
Drug-addicted and living without any focus or purpose, Padilla found out as a teen he was going to be a father. The thought of not being there to raise his son was enough to scare Padilla straight.
Over the past 17 years, Padilla has earned a few college degrees, and raised a son who makes him more than proud.
Nathan truly understands that many members of society have never learned how to deal with painful emotions, how to believe in themselves, what to expect from participating in the political process and how to get things done within it, or how to maintain a sense of self when things get tough.
“We address generations of problems, and we help people to develop new ways of being. This is not rehabilitation, this is habilitation.”
Padilla says, “Everybody has unique handling instructions.
