Todays Guest is Miguel Rodriguez, he has been married for 10 years, and they have 3 children, a boy and 2 girls.  He is a first generation lineman, first generation college graduate, and first generation dad to his son. He has  been in line work 6 years and is currently a Foreman in the North East. He  finished a college degree in organization management while completing his  apprenticeship.  Before that he spent a (6.5 years) in the behavioral health field where he learned how to diffuse hostile confrontations verbally. Miguel is also a Marine Corp veteran with multiple deployments to Iraq, were he  learned how to diffuse hostile confrontations physically, which was completely different than the time in the behavioral health field. Our guest today is none other than Vladimir Bilik jr. Vladimir has been married to his wife Susanna for 17 years. Together they have two children, son Boston 15 years old and daughter Kaya 14 years old. Vladimir grew up helping his father run a mobile semi wash business. Fathers are 40 percent more likely to experience symptoms of PTSD than men without children. That's bad news for children. For many people with PTSD, avoidance is seen as a means of managing symptoms by removing themselves from stressful situations. individuals with PTSD often view power, trust, control, and intimacy in a warped fashion, leading to violent conflict with romantic partners and family members, and can cause a father to misinterpret a child’s harmless behaviors as imminent threats. “When kids are active they can misbehave, and it can cause difficulties in how parents interpret that behavior as if it’s on purpose, when really it’s just kids being kids. The trauma that results from sexual abuse is a syndrome that affects not just the victim and their family, but all of society. Because sexual abuse, molestation, and rape are such shame-filled events, our culture tends to suppress information about them. Some of the most startling statistics unearthed during research into sexual abuse are that children are three times as likely to be victims of rape than adults, and that stranger abuse constitutes by far the minority of cases. It is more likely for a child to experience sexual abuse at the hands of a family member or another supposedly trustworthy adult. By far the most common effect of sexual abuse is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Symptoms can extend far into adulthood and can include withdrawn behavior, reenactment of the traumatic event, avoidance of circumstances that remind one of the event, and physiological hyper-reactivity
