A few years ago a letter went viral on social media.  That letter was from Einstein to his daughter and touched the hearts of many.  Nettie was deeply touched by it and immediately decided to do a podcast based on it. Nettie soon learned that Snopes does not believe it was written to his daughter but does not have proof that it wasn't written to someone else. Nettie shares it anyway –– just the thought that Love could be proven to be, by science, the most powerful force in the universe, is mind-boggling and beautiful at the same time.  It's what Nettie believes anyway, and would challenge Snopes to prove her wrong.  Be the Light!

While on a little vacation, Nettie shares the audio of her latest video: Love - #1 Priority. Making decisions during times of world crisis means taking a close look at priorities. Nettie has a few tips to think about and invites you to look at your own priorities..

During a small transition with much-to-do, and in the midst of some global "ugly," Nettie updates some musings about our need to be gentle to self and the world.  It is a reminder that Ugly and scary -FEAR - has been prevalent and in the forefront for awhile and that we need to remind ourselves to take the space and time to reclaim the balm of self-care.  Ugly and fear are viral right now.  We must take the Covid approach to mask ourselves with love so as not to spread droplets of hate and fear.

One year ago, our nation grieved the loss of John Lewis. Some of us grieved with an enlightened respect towards his work as documentary and tributes flooded the airways. Today, many of our nation have done a 180 turn and openly reject the option of allowing our black and brown citizens the freedom to vote and their constitutional rights of citizenship.  Today, Nettie shares her thoughts from 1 year ago as she pondered and contemplated the life of John Lewis.  May we keep his legacy alive.

A series of things go wrong for Nettie, but she remembers when times were worse and everything turned out all right.  She reminds us that we can make things better with just a little possibility thinking.

An encore presentation, Nettie shares sweet memories about her father and just how much she appreciates all of his qualities and the evidence of the same qualities in herself and her children.  Despite tough beginnings and horrific experiences during World War II, he chose to come home and live life with love and generosity, grateful for all the blessings he had.

How do you know what God wants you to do?  When do you throw in the towel and retire?  Many themes ran through Netties head this week and motivated her to take a look at what to do with her passion to serve.

On holiday. Nettie replays a SermoNettie from Episode 3, Season 1. We all have heroes who have influenced and changed our lives. Who are those heroes and how do we honor what we have learned from them? What does it take to be a hero in someone else's life?

Now what do we do? As vaccinations increase and Covid-19 numbers come down, the country is emerging from the stay-at-home routines we’ve endured for over a year. Holding and rocking her brand-new grandson to sleep, Nettie ponders the ancient practice of Women passing on Wisdom to their children. 

Nettie awaits the imminent birth of daughters first child.  Realizing she is now the matriarch in this situation, she recalls all her Mother and father passed on to her and what she in turn passes on to her daughter. 

In a world where toxic language and judging of others is viral, Nettie encourages First Responders in Love to first respond with a listening heart instead of reacting with repetitive shots of judgment regarding both the victims and the perpetrators.  It is our job to Be the Light, not to be the judge.

A popular Re-run while Nettie is on vacation: Nettie recalls Fall 1965, and the painful  experience for her and her two new friends from across town.  It was the first year of desegregation and busing and the events of that time became a life-long lesson filled with grief, confusion, guilt and anger for Nettie.  It is a lesson Nettie continues to work on and encourages others to place themselves in the agonizing place our friends-of color live in everyday.

It's Spring! The world and our communities are slowly emerging from our year-long Covid 19 lockdown.  Nettie visits the varied emotions one feels and helps us find ways to prepare for our emergence.

Inspired by an old high school friend who called himself "Flaming," Nettie speaks to the fact that we all flame in some way and how we can use the flame in our hearts to help heal others.

The election is over, but the winner is yet to be announced.  In a parking lot, on the way home from getting stitches removed from her eye, Nettie is struck with the angst of a nation divided. and, before this could be published, a winner is announced.  Knowing the winner does not discount the knowledge that we are a nation in need of healing.  Where do we start?  We are first responders in love.  We start with ourselves.

In all things be grateful.  There you will find your Joy.  Is it really that easy?  In sharing an update of her Corneal transplant, Nettie shares how finding the gift in dark times, being grateful in the midst of chaos, can bring one to a place of joy.

Letting go of things we cannot control is for our own good, but it is uncomfortable. Letting go, or giving it over to Love brings us both comfort and Joy, Nettie explains how we can turn fear into love by choosing to let go of those things we fear.

A change of plans.  Nettie sets aside her planned podcast to share the news of a diagnosis that has helped her embrace gratitude and joy.

In a time where there doesn't seem to be much to be joyful about, Nettie shares ways to put away old messages, heal old wounds, and find ways to be grateful in the moment.  Sharing an old wound, just recently healed, Nettie claims her joy with gladness.

We get to choose what to do with the lemons we are handed by others;  Sit around and suck on the sourness, or add a little sweetener and make lemonade.  This is just another way to re-visit, "Do What You Can, Not What You Can't," a recurring theme in Nettie's messages.  

Perseverance and Resurrection in the time of Covid?  Nettie explains this pairing as we live "Ground Hog's Day everyday.  

Nettie welcomes her first guest interview when she brings in Fred, her husband, to talk about the Fourth of July.  Is there much to be grateful for this year?  What makes this year a particularly difficult time to celebrate.  Nett and Fred lovingly look at the good that has always been and still exists in our country.

Today, Nettie proclaims she is a WEIRDO! She has come to a new understanding that God has called her, and wants that weirdo as His witness.  Finding herself all boxed in by the expectations of others and self on her journey, she needed to be convinced that God wanted her just the way He made her. God nudged her out of the box to be just who He wants her to be, A First Responder in Love and light to others in the world.

Balancing life in general is not the easiest thing, but throw in Covid-19 and we are even more challenged to meet the needs of others as well as our own.  It's time to be willing to let go of some of the good things we do and choose the best of what we can do.  It's about balance, and letting go of unreal expectations and offering ourselves a little grace.

There is a chasm of difference between the Mother's Day celebrations of yesterday and the long distance and often truncated celebrations of our Mothers today.  We celebrate a wonderful, diverse group  of heroes, with titles that could fill a page and more.  Whomever you are celebrating today, take the time and make the effort to let them know how very much you love them.
