On today’s Marketing Monday, we're going to be talking about the concentric circles of trust and radical authenticity, and this ties to the question "Is Radical Authenticity Oversharing?"
Radical Authenticity isn't about oversharing. It's not about leaving yourself open to every person who might hurt you in your vulnerability. Through increasing your emotional intelligence, you can make use of the construct I call the Concentric Circles of Trust.
So if you're a coach, consultant, or service-based business owner who wants to know how to express your authentic self while protecting your mindset and goals, then this episode is for you.

E 201: Maximizing Your Creativity in Business
On today’s Marketing Monday, we're going to take a look at how you can maximize your creativity in business.
When it seems like there are no answers to your problems, or that everyone has done all of your ideas, you’re likely not embracing your creative thinking process.
The best ideas don’t tend to come from cognitive thought processing alone.
Typically, your creative process includes a discontinuous “jump” so when someone asks you how you came up with that, you say “It just came to me!”
Let’s explore how we can optimize this for you in your business.
So if you're a coach, consultant, or service-based business owner who wants to know how to maximize your creativity in business, then this episode is for you.

E 194: When You Buy Coaching But Get Courses
E 194: When You Buy Coaching But Get Courses
On today’s Marketing Monday, we're going to talk about something you might have experienced. It's When You Buy Coaching But Get Courses. So here's an example:
It sounded so great on the sales call. You’d get coaching as well as have access to a huge content library that would answer any question you could think of.
And then you get to the other side and discover live calls packed with tens (maybe hundreds) of people clamoring for help because (just like you) they watched the videos but need help applying the information directly to their business.
The coach only has a few minutes for each of you, and you’re told many times to “watch the video about XYZ”
This is what happens when coaches sell courses and call it coaching.
So if you're a coach, consultant, or service-based business owner who wants to know how to avoid buying a course instead of coaching, then this episode is for you.

We're going to talk about how you can at pretty much any level of an organization, use your voice for impact and influence. And this, again, ties directly to the name of Rachel's company, the un-muted life, and the potential that exists when we hit the unmute button.

We're back on episode #3 with Rachel Druckenmiller, the founder of UNMUTED! Rachel, thank you so much for being here with me. Today, Rachel and I discuss the paradigm shift that needs to happen in business leadership. We need to go from Command and Control to Connect and Care!
Rachel: This has been fun! I love talking about things, but I'm not used to talking about them in quite the same way. So these have been really fun conversations.
Ruthie: Yes, absolutely. And I think if you’re a leader, want to be a better leader, or are an aspiring leader, today's episode is definitely the episode for you. This is definitely the episode for leaders who are paying attention to what's been going on right now, especially if you're stuck somewhere between the old methods and frameworks of leadership, and whatever’s next.

The Ripples of Being The Best You
The Ripples of Being The Best You
Today, Ashley M. Williams, founder and CEO of RIZZARR and I are going to dig into her personal brand. She's got a video show, a podcast show. Her talk for the C3EB Summit centered on aspects of her personal brand and messaging.
Ruthie: Ashley, I've heard you talk about the ripple effect more than once now. Can you tell us what that is? What does it mean to you, and what message are you projecting out into the universe?
Ashley: I love this thing by Lisa Nichols, where she talks about how the world would be different based on who you decided to be. I think each of us has our own idea of becoming the best version of ourselves. You have your own unique set of things you can contribute to the world that can make such an impact on other people's lives. Do not dismiss or doubt that. Don’t take that for granted.

At The Intersection of Woman and Minority
At The Intersection of Woman and Minority
Ruthie: Today, Ashley M. Williams, the CEO and Founder of RIZZARR and I are going to talk about something that we very much have in common. It's becoming a topic that is more and more prevalent in conversations, business or otherwise. That is being at the intersection of “woman” and “minority”.
I think Ashley is a great person to talk to about it, because she actually has been successful at securing funding for her business, despite being both.
Of the $40 billion raised for the US venture capital fund in 2019, only 3% went to minorities and less than 2% went to women. But if you were in that intersection of “woman” and “black”, it was 0.2%. So we have to remember that these intersections can actually further remove us from the resources we need to make it to 5 years in business like Ashley has.

Marketing Consistency: The Problem With It and 3 Tactics to Move the Needle
Marketing Consistency: The Problem With It and 3 Tactics to Move the Needle
Marketing consistency is the exact opposite of winning the lottery. But when we’re marketing, we want to win the marketing lottery: going viral, getting tons of followers, tons of people on our email list, etc.
The trick about the marketing lottery is that you can go viral and still not make any money. Last week, I was playing my guitar and singing a song. It was about going viral, but not getting any new clients. So going viral is like winning the marketing lottery.
The problem is that most of us don't go viral. Even those who do may not immediately see a financial benefit of going viral. In fact, there can be some bad things about going viral because if you go viral for the wrong reasons, you're growing an audience that is not aligned with your business purpose.

Content Resonance: The Sweet Spot of Content Creation
Today we are going to talk about content resonance. This topic is interesting because if you google it, there isn't actually anything there. And that's because this was an idea I stumbled upon when I was talking to Jennifer McGinley about what it takes to make great content. This was a bit before I got firmly entrenched with the idea of radical authenticity. So content resonance was actually a concept that came to me even before radical authenticity.

When we're talking about my method - the Radically Authentic Authority Marketing Method - I refer to something called the Expert’s Portfolio. Radical Authenticity: The Key to a Stand-Out Authority Marketing Strategy
Radical Authenticity: The Key to a Stand-Out Authority Marketing Strategy
Today we’re going to be talking about a phrase I've been dropping a lot; radical authenticity. What does that mean? Well, let's think about what authenticity means. Authenticity means you're being genuine.
What makes it so radical is that - especially in the spaces where I work, as a professional B2B person - we don't have a lot of authenticity. We talk about being authentic in such a way that "authentic" is almost a trite word among marketing professionals nowadays. That's why I felt like I needed to qualify that it needs to be radical authenticity.

Out-of-the-Box Ways to Repurpose Webinar Content
Out-of-the-Box Ways to Repurpose Webinar Content
Today, we’re going to talk about repurposing webinar content. So you came up with your idea, you marketed the webinar, you delivered it. It was great. The value was huge, and you're so happy with it. What now? Shouldn't you just create a gated, evergreen webinar?
The big thing is that it’s evergreen and you're like, “This is so great!” It's wonderful, but there's no deadline.
There's no scarcity. There's no compulsion. So what's going to drive people to watch that? So what if it's a lead gen piece?
I think if you've built up some authority and you have a reputation for creating amazing content, then yes. That could potentially work out really well for you.
But like I said, once the event is done, you hibernate. Once you're done hibernating, then you have to ask yourself, “How do I repurpose all of this wonderful content that I have?”
So I'm going to share with you what I recommend to my clients, from what consumes the least amount of resources to the most.

Masculine and Feminine: We’ve Got Them Both
Masculine and Feminine: We’ve Got Them Both
Today, I'm going to be speaking with Dr. AJ of AJ Rao, LLC about something thought-provoking. We're going to be talking about masculine and feminine traits, and the myriad of labels that are out there. I feel like those labels are really empowering for people who now have a way to articulate their human experience and be understood by the people who take the time to learn them. What's something you've noticed regarding people's perception of masculine and feminine traits?
Dr. AJ: It's so interesting that you phrased it that way. Traits and energies don't actually have gender. Over time, the stereotypes which have been created over the evolution of our society have led people to categorize certain traits as masculine and feminine, even if they have nothing to do with your gender expression.
By using those 2 labels, we actually end up falsely dichotomizing traits and energies that shouldn't be dichotomized; they're actually on a spectrum. That's where a lot of our current leadership stereotypes come from. When a woman is being confident and assertive, she gets called the B-word. A man does the exact same thing, and he’s called a powerful leader.

Inclusion Is NOT a Zero-Sum Game
Inclusion Is NOT a Zero-Sum Game
For our next segment, Dr. Aparajita Jeedigunta of AJ Rao LLC and I are going to talk about inclusion. The topic of this episode is that inclusion isn't a zero-sum game. Could you elaborate what you mean by that?
Dr. AJ: Absolutely. There’s this concern that by including more people, you're actually taking away power and privilege from those who already have it. Like when we talk about white privilege. There are white people who are not affluent saying, “I grew up poor.” I’m not denying that at all, but you're still white. There's still some privilege that comes with that.
Just like me being Indian American; people assume that my parents are filthy stinking rich, but they're not. I do have the privilege of having the support of my parents, a stable family structure and a commitment to family. Those are my privileges.
That's really where this “inclusion is not a zero-sum game” comes from. When we think of inclusion, we tend to think of these sacrifices and privileges, but it's not like that. The universe theoretically started from the Big Bang, and it's still expanding. The power and energy in the universe is still expanding. That's sort of how inclusion is. It's still expanding. By including more people, we don't destroy that energy. We just convert and amplify that power exponentially by adding more voices. It's not even linear. When we look at it like a win-loss, zero-sum game, we're just shooting ourselves in the foot.

Failure and Hustle Culture
Failure and Hustle Culture
I ask Nettie Owens of Sappari Solutions one of my burning questions in today's episode, "Is it possible to do all of the work and still fail?" When businesses fail, we often chalk it up to them not trying hard enough. They didn't work hard enough, so their business didn't survive. But is that always true? Nettie levels with us about failure and hustle culture.

Random Thoughts: We're not okay, and that's okay!
Not all of us are okay right now. And that's fine! You might have good day, but then you have a bad one right after. The episodes preceding this one, with Stefanie, do a wonderful job of helping us wade through the hip-deep pressure and stress we're all feeling right now. Even good things can be stressful.
So if you're business is booming because you provide essential products or services, that's still a boatload of stress that wasn't on you before.
If business has tanked because you rely on foot traffic or in-person events to keep revenue coming in, that's certainly stress you weren't counting on.
So today, consider this episode a space that gives you permission to not feel okay. Then head over to Stefanie's 4th episode and do the visualization exercise.
