Thirteen years ago, our guest today found herself sitting in a boardroom with a group of the internet’s top marketers. 

All men, and all making their own rules and harnessing the power of digital marketing to build businesses that allowed them the freedom to live as we all dream of. It was at this moment that she realized there was another way. A way out of stuffy boardrooms and cramped cubicles and into cozy slippers and a self-led schedule.

She is the host and face of Your Entrepreneurial Resources where she helps entrepreneurs start, grow, and scale their businesses, connecting them with the right mentors, resources, and tools. Venese shares how she went from running an event and marketing company, connecting local companies with international influencers and international brands with local influencers, to entrepreneur and online course creator.

She saw a pattern: many entrepreneurs were suffering from information overload, they were overwhelmed and needed help finding the right resources, she filled that need How she found her ideal customers through Facebook Groups by participating every day, asking questions, and engaging in chat discussions After speaking to over 350 people she found that 20 to 30% of those people were her ideal audience and 70% would become collaborators.

Today my special guest is Jess O’Connell. Jess started her business after her husband lost his job in 2018 and they went on government assistance. Her first launch generated $1500 in revenue, the proof she needed to give it her full attention. She made a commitment to herself, she would no longer let anyone else be in control of her future. With a background in network marketing, teaching other people how to sell their network marketing business became her core offer. She realized that she needed to stop chasing down all the many things they were seeking and just focus on one, which was: How to teach people how to launch their course and scale to a cold audience.

Scholar Ready teaches math, writing, reading, conducts personal essay writing workshops, and prepares students for the PSAT, SAT and ACT exams. It was started 16 years ago, with the goal to help students graduate with as little student loan debt as possible. 

Jennifer stresses the key to college and college scholarships are; perseverance, strong writing skills and competitive test scores. Every day she inspires her students to confront their academic challenges.
