E5: 5 Characteristics of a Digital Enterprise
In this episode, I level set on my definition of a digital enterprise - distinguished by five characteristics that reflect organizations that are truly digital versus "analog" companies. This is important for helping identify what needs to be transformed within the organization.
There's an HBR article that talks about adaptability as a competitive advantage that I reference during the episode.
I'll be having a "fireside chat" with Ian Stendara from Ardoq on Tuesday, April 28th at 9am EST about what enterprise architects can do during the Covid-19 crisis.
In Episode 6, I'll have Josh Feldman of Radian talking about how they make cybersecurity scalable. Tune in!

Prior to Corning, Mark spent 14 years with General Electric (GE) in leadership roles that spanned IT, business development, and internal consulting across several divisions/corporate staffs including GE Plastics, Healthcare, Superabrasives, Corporate Audit Staff, and Corporate Business Development. E3: Principles for Digital Enterprise
Digital enterprises - especially at the beginning of their digtital journey - often do not have sufficient information to inform the decisions about the current operations. The strategy or roadmap may not yet be defined and there may not be policies and standards to follow. This creates a risk of avoidable technical debt that will create more drag on the organization's ability to transform. Principles are a method for addressing this problem by providing guidance for decision-makers in situations where there is ambiguity. Debasish talks about the principles that he's used and thinks are useful for a digital enterprise.
