Hobart defeated the host team Endicott 3-1 in the semifinal round and then defeated the defending 2022 national champions Adrian College 3-2 in overtime. Today we speak with newly appointed first-year Head Coach of Marian Men's Hockey Clay Van Diest and Team Captain Blake Kleiner. We talk with Coach Van Diest about his hockey playing career at St. Norbert where he played in 2 national championship games (1 win), and 3 frozen fours (2 at Lake Placid). We discuss many other topics such as his coaching philosophy and his overall coaching background. Being a 2nd year program, we talk with Coach about recruiting, growth of the program, facing & getting a win against his old team that he was apart of for 3 years, SUNY Canton Men's Hockey. In today's episode we have a special program, Hilbert College Women's Hockey. This upcoming 2022-2023 season will be their inaugural season as a program and we talked with their Head Coach Cole Klubek and two Assistant Coaches Seth Van Voorhis & Maddie Norton. We asked Coach Klubek about the start of the program and many questions surrounding it along with his own personal background, while with Seth & Maddie we focused on mainly their personal backgrounds and how they look to make an impact this season and be known for. Today we are joined by Coach Jason Bloomingburg & Gio Procopio of Aurora Men's Hockey. Aurora was a surprise to many including myself last year and even became one of my favorite teams to follow. Being a relatively new program, they've shown improvement every year and started last year with an 11-0 record eventually reaching as high as #7 in the USCHO.com Men's D3 Poll. Great episode all around and definitely worth a listen!
