Squint is a band out of St Louis, MO that formed in late 2021 and have put out two EPs, toured and had a very busy 2023. The Runts are punk band from Northeast Los Angeles that have been around since the early 2000's and reformed a few years ago. Since their return they have played tons of shows including Sound and Fury 23 and a rooftop, put out some new music and are currently playing a string of final shows before playing last official shows at the Lodge Room in February 2024. They put out a 5 song demo in 2021 and they've played a ton of gigs since then including Tied Down Fest in Detroit earlier this year. Sound and Fury 2023 took place during the entire week of 7/24 - 7/30 including multiple pre shows and after parties. The main fest happened outside at Exposition Park in Los Angeles, CA over the weekend and featured bands from all over the world both hardcore and adjacent genres. My friend Nick Bryden (In Time, Plausible Deniability) joined YLIA to recap the weekend with me live on KZAA 96.5 FM on 8/3/2023. BIG BOY is a band out of San Jose that started in 2019 and they have put out a few releases on DAZE and played shows all over. Big Boy is easily one of the best live bands I've ever seen and one of my favorite bands doing it right now. Cola Boyy is an artist with a history in punk and hardcore in Southern California who started his solo project Cola Boyy about ten years ago and has toured with MGMT and played shows all over Europe. AFFLICTION is a new straight edge band out of Ventura County (805), CA made up of 15-18 year olds. They have been apart of the local scene for some time now and formed the band about 5 months ago. They have played a few shows already and are in the process of recording a demo. I had the whole band on the radio on 5/25/2023 on KZAA 96.5 FM for an interview. TRASH CANT is a band of three 16-17 year old kids out of Ventura, CA that started last year and have been playing a bunch of local shows. Conservative Military Image has been a band just over a year and has already released a ton of great music and is actively playing shows all over the country. IN TIME was on the show in the middle of the pandemic October 2020 before I had ever met them and they had only played a few shows and just put out their demo. Since then they have toured, played tons of shows, put out an EP and shared the stage with Downpresser, Big Boy, Spy, Initiate, Raw Brigade, Dead Heat and Scowl just to name a few. They just put out a 12" EP on Indecision Records called "Save Your Breath" you can stream it everywhere and get a record at the Indecision Webstore. Cameron, the drummer of In Time called in the show and we did a radio interview on 3/23/23 on KZAA 96.5 FM and we got the inside scoop on the new EP, talked In Time van breakdown, building a local scene, hardcore and much more. Rejection Pact was on the show over two years ago and part of the first wave of real hardcore bands I had on so it was really cool to have Devin back on the show for a radio interview on 3/9/23 on KZAA LP 96.5 FM.  Their recent LP Can We Wait? came out a few months ago on Safe Inside Records and you can buy physical copies and stream it everywhere.  Devin and I talked Can We Wait? writing/recording/release, Boise HC, the state of hc, getting older in hc, the pandemic and much more.

FAIM is hardcore band outta Denver, Colorado and they have a new LP coming out on 3/3/23 on Safe Inside Records, this will be their final record.  They have two singles from that record streaming now, preorders are up at Safe Inside and their guitarist Chris Carraway joined the radio show for a live interview on KZAA 96.5 FM on 1/26/2023.  We talked California, college radio, John Muir Trail, the final Faim LP, everything Faim, the Cop City situation in Atlanta, Palestine, the American criminal justice system and much more.

Prevention is a hardcore band out of Springfield, Illinois that has released three EP's since 2019, played tons of shows all over and have some big plans for 2023.  Their guitarist Evan joined YLIA for a live radio interview on 1/12/2023 on KZAA LP 96.5 FM.  We talked Springfield, the local Springfield hc scene, the radio, everything Prevention, midwest hardcore, the straight edge and much more.

MAJOR PAIN is a new hardcore band coming out of Southern California and just joining the Indecision Decisions record family.  They have released a killer demo already and have shared the stage with Shackled, Age of Apocalypse, Restraining Order, Higher Power, Broken Vow and have shows coming up with More to Pride and Gorilla Biscuits.  Their bassist Cole Koopmans (Koops) joined YLIA for a live radio interview on KZAA 96.5 FM on 11/17/2022.  We talked everything Major Pain, Major Payne, hockey, Orange County Hardcore, working at Revelation Records, Fury, the straight edge and much more.  The episode finishes with a playlist made by the band. 

When I got into hardcore in the early-mid 2000's I had no choice but to be front and center for the rise and peak of "amazing core" and the Rivalry Records epic releases.  This era of hardcore is meaningful to me on a lot of different levels.  I was joined by members of the band Fading Signal (North Carolina) took take a deep dive into "amazing core" and the Rivalry Records discography.  We caught up on what's happening with Fading Signal and then we went into our discussion featuring some top 5 Rivalry lists and much more.
